One of the nicest COE parks we have visited. Easy access from I-20 near Augusta. Majority of sites are very spacious with plenty of room for RV & vehicle. A large number of sites have lake view and access for kayak/boats. Park also has boat launch, beach, and playground. Will definitely visit again! No shopping nearby. We camped at Winfield COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

This was our second real camping trip and first at a COE campground. It rained and rained much of our stay - a good education on camping in the rain. We still love it! Reservations were easy online. Check-in was simple and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The site itself was terrific! Clean, level, easy to get set up. It's a sandy base which was well compacted and sloped properly for run off during all of the rain we had. Very private sites, lots of vegetation between us and the neighbor. Amazing waterfront views. Nice fire ring, grill, picnic table and a fish cleaning table too. Stairs to get down to the water. The shower was very clean, they could have used a wider curtain, but there was no one else there, so it didn't matter. :) Good hot water and pressure. Trash facility was well-maintained and staff were raking/sweeping areas during the day. Boat launch had a collection of life vests for use in case you didn't have one - great GA program. The biggest detriment/benefit (depending on your goals) was lack of good Internet/cell service. I could get 1-2 bars of 4G on Verizon, but it drifted a lot and made checking radar very challenging. ATT cell was almost non-existent. Had to drive out of the park to the intersection of Winfield Rd. and Mistletoe Rd. for signal. Tmobile was even worse. I didn't have a booster - that's coming soon. Mistletoe SP is just a few minutes away - there's a small camp store there and trails. They sell firewood there. None available at Winfield. We had grief with ants - be prepared. It's a long drive to Evans if you need a Walmart. There is a Dollar General by Fort Gordon, about 10 miles away. Check water levels in Strom Thurmond Lake before going. The water was nearly full pool while we were there, but you can Google for photos of what campsites look like during low water times. It would be much less appealing for views, fishing and boat launching if the water level was low. We camped at Winfield COE in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

A really nice campground on beautiful Lake Thurmond. Almost all the sites are quite spacious, very private and are right on the lake with beautiful views. The site did not require any leveling. We only stayed one night on our way to Myrtle Beach but would definitely stay here again. Ideal for anyone who loves boating or fishing.

The bathhouse with showers was clean but quite warm. Would be nice if air conditioning or a fan were added.

The staff was cordial and friendly. We camped at Winfield COE in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Price reflects Senior Pass rate. Our site was on it's own loop about 50' from the lake and was very private. A little difficult to get into with a 40' fiver but then again, we went in "backward" so our view would be toward the lake. The J. Strom Thurmond lake is huge (72,000 acres) and has over 1200 miles of shoreline. The center of the lake is the state line between GA and SC. Peaceful and beautiful. We would stop here again. We camped at Winfield COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: April, 2008 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This is probably one of Georgia's best kept secrets when it comes to a great campground. It is located near Mistletoe State Park on the Little River portion of Strom Thurmond lake. Most sites are huge and very private, but can vary. Lake front sites allow you to fish, and pull your boat up to your site. Staff is friendly and make rounds frequently. There is a swimming beach, playground, boat launch ramp(s) dump station, etc. We will return soon! We camped at Winfield COE in a Travel Trailer.
