Love this place! Clearly the owners are making it their home and sharing it with others. Minutes from I75 northbound exit #92, it is quiet, clean, easy access, with more than enough space to maneuver any size rig. Bathroom is clean, showers with hot water and good pressure. Laundry room was an extra treat because we had been traveling for a week on our way to Florida. Very clean and worked well. Tall pines are filled with song birds and the grounds are well cleared of brush. The owners are tremendous, greeting you like family when you arrive from a short, shady road coming directly to the campground. We liked it so much we stopped again on our way back north from Florida. There is gas just before camp entrance too. Thank you Southern Gates! Keep up the good work! We will see you next year! We camped at Southern Gates RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed at Southern Gates last year and loved the small, quaint feel. Like going home to family. We just returned and unfortunately, it has been sold. We were so shocked at the appearance that we didn't tell the new owners we had been there before. They told us some story how "they had cleaned it up since buying it". What they did was take all of the charm and appeal of the campground away. They may have trimmed a few branches but they also tore out the gardens and plantings all over the grounds. The Office had been like walking into a friend's home but now it is stark and unwelcoming. I am very sorry to say that they have ruined a homey place and made it look like a KOA. Stark and cold. We will not be returning. We also missed the cookies that the other owner gave us. We camped at Southern Gates RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We planned to stay at this park months ago for stop along our Florida trip. Seeing a low rating that a reviewer left had us wondering if we made the right choice. Indeed we did! Southern Gates RV Park is convenient to the interstate, and the welcome at the office was very reassuring. We used our Passport America savings without a hitch. Owner escorted us to our pull through lot, which was huge! The new owners of this park are very accommodating. Staff refilled one of my propane tanks and carried to my trailer. The new owner explained that they basically bought a park that was in disrepair and are working hard to update. It appears to us they are doing a good job of it. There is a clean laundry and bathhouse, the park is clean and easy to navigate. Be sure to have your propane filled before you leave. We would certainly stay here again. Arrived late Saturday and the owners were working on the grounds. They were very helpful and showed me to my campsite. Diesel fuel is available in town and was the same price as the next town. We would return again. We camped at Southern Gates RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very quiet and peaceful campground. The roads are dirt and easy to maneuver. Camp sites are level. Wi-Fi is available, no cable. Some sites have ability to reach satellite TV. Campground has a mixture of sun or shady sites. The showers are very clean. AT&T is good. We did not have any ant problem.
We only stayed one night on our trip south. Will definitely return. We camped at Southern Gates RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This park has new owners. They are very friendly and working hard to clean up the park. Easy off and on I75 but no road noise. Great place for an overnight or quiet stay. Shopping is 10 miles north. We came in early but there was no problem and allowed my son to visit us for free. We will come again. We camped at Southern Gates RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Hard to rate this park. The new owners are very nice and accommodating, offering to set up a remote tv antenna for us! It is a small park in some nice shady pine trees. Very basic, no tv on air service, but our pull thru was easy to get into and had room for us so as not to unhook our toad. The pool looks sparkling clean. Downside - we had ants move into our motor home after just the one night. The rate is very reasonable for full hookups. For us, we would only use this campground as a one night stop. We spent one night in a long pull through under large trees using Passport America, cash. The sites and roads are gravel with some rough roads. The 50a power was good, we didn't use the water or sewer. There were lots of small bugs bothering us when we set up mid afternoon. We wanted an open site for our rooftop dish but even moving within the site we never were able to get a signal (too many trees), we did get 7 or 8 OTA channels. It would be difficult to get a signal anywhere unless you had a portable dish. The staff was helpful. A major problem we discovered was an ant infestation at our next stop the day we left. One night and we had hundreds of ants in the kitchen and living room. Before we even brought the slides out we had to get had to purchase ant spray and bug bombs. We will not return due to the trees, the high price and especially the ants. We camped at Southern Gates RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

New owners try hard to accommodate. Sparkling clean pool, quiet park, great location just off interstate. I asked if they had a shade umbrella so I could enjoy the pool area, and 3 minutes later there it was. Excellent service, great pricing. This campground is under new ownership, as of a week ago. They are great, first time campground owners working quickly to improve the grounds. During our four night stay, we observed them daily clearing brush, opening walking trails around the two ponds, lifting the tree canopy, cleaning the office area, etc.. They are friendly, eager to please, and committed to improving the park. The sites are not well defined, but the new owners are working to correct this. In the meantime they walk you to your site before you drive-in, to make sure you know where to go. (Once we walked the campground the site locations became obvious.) The spacious FHU (w/s/e) sites are grass over a sandy surface with a choice of 30amp or 50amp service. Best of all, most sites are shaded by wonderful Pines and Cedars. There are no paved pads as this is a "campground" style park not an "RV park" style park. All of the sites appear to be level, except site number 12; and all sites are easy to get into with the majority being pull-thru. We got our 36' Journey and our Suburban into Site 11 and level in just a couple of minutes, and we saw a larger Winnebago pull in after us and also get into their site and setup quickly without any issues. (They didn't even have to unhook their toad.) Even with the campground being close to I-75, it was remarkably quiet. We had our windows open for most of our stay and it was quiet enough for us to read and enjoy the nice weather. The sounds from I-75 were just a light background that didn't interfere with us enjoying the song birds. This is a wonderful park to pull over for a night of rest, or to stay a few days to just relax and unwind. The new owners have a lot of work to do, and are working quickly to improve the park. As full time RVers, we appreciate owners who want to make their parks clean, comfortable, and pleasant places to stay. So if any RVers are traveling through the area, patronize this campground and support these new owners. We camped at Southern Gates RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

RV park junket, grass needed mowing, ant beds everywhere, limbs needed trimming, and the roads were basically dirt trails that meandered through the park in no order. No real organization of layout of park. No WiFi or TV even though they said it was there. We would Not stay here again. We camped at Southern Gates RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed at Southern Gates RV Park for a week. After checking in the owners gave us an RV-shaped cookie and walked us to our pull-through site (all sites here are pull-through). The owners couldn't be friendlier or more helpful. The site was very level. The water, electric, and sewer connections were convenient. We had no problems with any of the connections. The park is quiet and peaceful with clean landscaping. The days that we didn't go to local parks and hung around the campground were peaceful and enjoyable. The laundry room featured two washers and two dryers at $1.25 each, which is very inexpensive for a campground, and they worked well. Although we didn't use them, the bathrooms looked clean. There is a pool which we didn't use as we stayed here in December. The campground is located on a quiet street where we were able to walk our dogs. We used our TV antenna and were able to get several channels in clearly, including local channels, MeTV, and GRIT. Within 10 miles there are several stores and businesses including Walmart, AutoZone, local grocery stores, Tractor Supply, a hardware store, restaurants, a movie theatre, and multiple gas stations. The only store closer than ten miles is down the block from the campground, and it seems to only sell crafts and small gifts. We camped at Southern Gates RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The Georgia Veterans State Park in Cordele is beautiful with trails, a military museum, and a marina. Providence Canyon (the "little Grand Canyon") is about 2 hours away but well worth the drive. In Albany the Riverfront Park is also beautiful, but the walking trails aren't the best. About an hour away is Maranatha Baptist Church, where former President Carter still teaches Sunday School on almost a weekly basis.

We found this campground via Passport America. We found the campground to be the easiest we have parked at in years of camping. You stop at the office, register, and they escort you right to your site. The next morning, you simply drive right out. The sites all look very level and they are so wide. We think it would be definitely be worth it even at their reduced rates rather than the half price we paid. There are not the "scary" long term residents you sometimes see in other campgrounds. We only counted 4 that looked like they were full time residents and their units were all clean and the areas around were spotless. We used our antenna and picked up all of the local channels. They came in very clearly. We will do our best to spread the word about this campground and all campgrounds who are willing to forgo half of their revenue to campers who really should appreciate it. We camped at Southern Gates RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

An older park in need of much maintenance. Our price reflects the Passport America rate. Would never pay the asking non-discounted price of $50.00 for a 50 amp Pull-Thru. Acceptable for an overnite stop, but not much more. Many seasonal units that are pretty rundown, along with some Mobile Homes. Their Web Site talks about holding your Rally here, but with so few sites available it would have to be a really small Rally. They offer WiFi, but system must be down as you can connect, but no Internet Access. We camped at Southern Gates RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

No tv antenna reception - we have a king jack. You don't find out til you are parked there is no cable, no tv reception and no internet service. (They have a service - it doesn't work at all) And there are no refunds after parking. I cannot for the life of me understand how they think this experience is worth $50, let alone the discounted cash rate of $25. It is a dilapidated park in the middle of nowhere with run down mobile homes as neighbors. Keep moving down the road. We camped at Southern Gates RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.
