This was our 1st RV park on our tour of Georgia and the Carolinas and we couldn't have chosen better. The owner patiently waited for us to find the place and guided us in as we had no SatNav (GPS). Peaceful and beautiful surroundings and real hospitality. We came back for our last night and saw more of the place. Enormous site with rolling countryside and a backdrop of forest and lakes; you could easily spend a day there walking round. It is exactly as presented on the website, an honest no frills place, well run and great value. - BoringBob
Apr 2018 - $25.00
So glad we found this gem!! It's a great campground. It's very nice, clean and quiet! Spacious sites. We camped in a 40 ft. 5th wheel. Very nice and helpful owner. He is always working to improve the grounds. Wish we could have stayed longer! Would have really enjoyed seeing a bluegrass concert here. Would definitely come again and recommend a visit here. - PinkNana
May 2016 - $25.00
This was the strangest place we've stayed to date.
Pros - the land itself is beautiful. Amazing views, peaceful. Very friendly staff.
We were placed not on a real spot. We were piggybacking off another spot where the resident was away for the weekend (the owner directed us there) but the location for us was perfect.
Cons - the layout is just bad. Most hookups are at the front of the driveway so you can't use them. The driveway is hilly. Tons of loose dogs (even the staff's dog was loose - I think it was the staff's dog). There were long-term campers who were probably the least friendly people you could meet. NOT A PLACE FOR BIG RIGS - there is a low-hanging wire before you enter that is under 13 feet. You will catch it. Just go VERY slow and your antenna will snap back and forth. While we did make a reservation, indicated specifically we had a 45' Class A motorhome, they really didn't have a place for us. Their solution was to pull through a large field of grass and piggyback onto a resident's site next door as he was away for the weekend. Most of the lots were back-in and were parallel to the road, so you basically had to parallel park. It was the strangest thing.
All in all, this place seemed like an wonderful opportunity lost. The land was gorgeous. If they were to update the lots to have the hookups in the right location, if they were to build the lots correctly, it would be amazing. - Kamnel
May 2015 - $22.00
We stopped here for a night. No problem getting a nice site with a view of the river. Staff was very friendly and helpful and park was obviously well-maintained. A great spot for fishermen, the park has a boat ramp. A hiking trail wends along the river. - WxToad
Oct 2014 - $22.00
Sites are a little close to each other but this is a very nice city park with many sites right on the river. Fair Verizon signal. - mockturtle
Jun 2018 - $30.00
Terrible campground, way out in the woods. The sites are too close (we had our neighbor's septic pipe right at the foot of our steps). Our hookups were in our neighbor's site. When pulling in, I had to remove glass and trash from the site to keep from running it over. The fire ring was filled with household garbage (banana peels, empty cans, paper, and who knows what). But the creek was nice.
I'd find another campground if concerned with the trash and close quarters. If you are looking for a nice creek to float or paddle down, and don't care about a trashy site, this may be your place. - glenstmary
Jun 2018 - $31.00
The campsite was fairly spacious. Plenty of room for the tow vehicle and extra space for moving around. The park needs some fixing up...more gravel throughout the park and lots of pot holes need to be fixed. The area had plenty of rain of the past week or two, so the lack of gravel created some muddy spots at the sites. Wifi was not consistent. This campground does not have a pool, playground, or cable (and I couldn't receive any "air" channels), so our grandkids were very bored. Of course, I knew these things when I made our reservation. Still, there is plenty of open area for a pool and playground to be added. They do have a driving range; however, I didn't see anyone use it during the 3 days we were there. Seems to be many full-timers who live there. - jconnally
Nov 2017 - $35.00
The site was level and easy to navigate. We had a great view of the creek just feet from the campsite. I did notice quite a number of long-term guest. We used the driving range and had a lot of fun. The town of Cave Spring is only about 2 miles away. I would recommend you bring an empty water jug and fill it at the natural spring in the park downtown. The wifi worked pretty good. I would stay here again but I would try to stay closer to the rear of the campground so I would not hear the cars on the main road. - walterwegozz
Jun 2011 - $25.00
Excellent campground! Not really a bad site in the campground, but the lakeside sites are amazing! However, no reservations are accepted, so you need to arrive during the week to get a lake site. There are several lakes for fishing, and a really nice beach right next to the campground. Ideal for biking and hiking as well. The only grills available in the campground are built into the fire-rings. There are at least four really nice handicap sites available that remained unused during our stay with a full campground. No sewer hookups at sites, but a nice dump station is at the campground exit. Very strict rules exist, so make sure to follow them! And when they say the lake is open from "Sunrise to Sunset," they mean 6:30 until 8:30 with no exceptions. We enjoyed our visit and will definitely return!! - RandyP
Sep 2008 - $20.00
We love to go to Rocky Mountain. It is close enough, but far enough away, that we feel like we have gone somewhere, without the long drive. We love to fish so we always try to get a lakefront site. It is wonderful for family, or couples. Has a great beach area plus grills if you are there only for the day. - ElizabethDN
Oct 2007 - $20.00
This is one of our favorite campgrounds because it's secluded, has excellent sites. Lakefront sites are spacious. Some sites are a bit unlevel. There is a beautiful beach for swimming. The scenery is gorgeous. This is a friendly campground. It is on a first come first serve basis and you fill out your envelope and pay on the honor system. Staff come by sites and are friendly. This is a dog friendly campground too. - hqndagal
Jun 2017 - $30.00
A real find. This small campground is located at State Mutual Stadium, home of the Rome Braves minor league baseball club. Great location adjacent to the Oostanaula River and Downtown Heritage Trail system. Gravel pads with patios, water and 15/30/50 power hookups. Operated by the friendly Braves staff, who will even give you a golf cart ride to the stadium. Great way to combine a trip to the ballpark and a night of camping. Open year round, reservations required - contact Braves office to book. - AtlantaBrave
Oct 2016 - $14.00
We stay here every year while visiting family. The only site I'm comfortable in is Site #1 the disabled site. Our coach is 38' and the other sites are up on a hill and not level. Very pretty area situated on Lake Allatuna beach. Open year round. - Luvs her horses
Apr 2014 - $17.00
This is a beautiful Military campground. However, it is Not big rig friendly. The railroad track you have to cross once leaving the interstate scrapped the bottom of our motor home even while crossing it very slowly. The road in the campground is steep and windy with over hanging tree limbs. We could not get level on our site and did not put out the slides. It was a very uncomfortable night. We saw only two sites which might work for a big rig but driving through the campground is very difficult. The staff were very friendly on the phone; however, we received no warning as to the challenges of staying there in a big rig. The lake is very pretty and the campground appeared to be very well maintained. In a smaller rig this place would be ideal. Be aware, however, there is a lot of road noise from the interstate. - Wgcamper
Oct 2013 - $16.00
This park was disappointing for us for several reasons. First, it is down a very narrow winding two lane road and over some steep and angled railroad tracks. On one turn, we launched our coffee pot from it’s location and broke it. The turn in, if you enter from one direction, is very sharp (125+ degrees). Distance wise, it’s only a few hundred yards below I-75 and one does hear the interstate. Once in the campground, we were assigned the only available site we were told that would handle our 40 ft rig and it was the handicapped site. It was under the trees (all sites are under the trees) so our rooftop satellite wouldn't lock on. Our bow-tie antenna, with built in booster, pulled in about 8 channels. Most were junk i.e. religious, QVC, infomercials etc. ) and not worth watching. The on site free cable was inoperable so we missed a World Series game. The lake was down due to flood control so no boating or swimming. Only one restroom was working and it was a hike from our site. It does offer 10 rental cabins, 10 tent sites and 12 W/E only RV sites. The CG shows an unsecured Wi-Fi at our site but we could never connect. Our Verizon Mi-Fi allowed us to get the internet. It’s a bit of a drive to the nearest small town of Cartersville and the closest grocery chain was 6 miles away. All in all, this is one facility that we will avoid in the future, even if it means paying a bit more somewhere else. - 5thwheeler
Mar 2008 - $18.00
Actually I did not stay in this campground. A friend wanted me to check out for him. This place is a REAL DIVE, cars up on blocks, what was left of the road in the campground had huge potholes in it, lots of trash and lots of seasonal RVers with rundown RVs. Overall really run down. I would not recommend anyone staying there. - ETB
Oct 2018 - $38.00
We stayed one night. Electric and water only, site just big enough to park our 25ft travel trailer. Ram 1500 TV had to park next door on mulched yard. Down hill site. Fire ring cluttered. Large pine tree too close to site to allow awning to open fully. Trees on the other side close to site required careful parking to allow room for slide out. Our site was right next to the entrance/exit gate, lots of traffic going by. Other sites farther away may not be as noisy. Dog droppings near site. A railroad runs within 100 ft and is very active with as many as 3 trains per hour, all with loud horns, thundering by at all hours of the day and night. The roads used to get to the campground are not the best, narrow and choppy. We have paid less for much better. Restrooms were clean and recently upgraded or constructed. Nice tile floors and shower walls. Would not stay here again. - Capt RonB
Aug 2018 - $41.00
Great stop over traveling from Tenn to south of Atlanta during the week. You do not want to go thru Atlanta except Sat or Sun if you can help it. We stayed here a few times. It isn't far from 75. Easy in and out and nice to be on the lake to go for a walk after your long day of driving. Great lake front sites and plenty of room to walk around. Different types of sites, most without sewer but there are a few with and you can dump your grey water in grey water areas marked. Full easy to access dump as you leave the CG. We had a very steep site this time but it was a large pull thru - we wanted to stay hooked up and it met our needs. Might ask, if level is important to you. Ducks around everywhere that are very friendly. Great verizon service and over the air channels worked ok. They do have cable but we did not utilize. Trees everywhere so not always sat friendly unless u can move yours around. Lovely rolling park like setting. They have a marina for your boat and a small store with basics. Between the Lake and the Pool, it is a nice summer visit. - FrancisandRenee
Jul 2018 - $55.00
Great views on the peninsula of Lake Allatoona. These amazing views could have made up for the park deficits, though in my view, were not sufficient to change my overall negative review. There are very few sites that have sewer hook-ups at this park. Every Tuesday, they have a service that costs $25 to dump both gray and black water tanks. Most of the sites are unpaved. Most sites are rather highly sloped. A great many of the sites are unpaved. The restrooms were reasonably clean, though not air conditioned. A few of the sites which seemed occupied by longer-term patrons were unkempt with personal belongings. The laundry facility had 3 working, older model, top loading washing machines and 3 very old functioning dryers. Patrons are largely rule-abiding, though they don't enforce the two-vehicle limit rule such that certain areas in the campground seemed like a parking lot. Sadly, I experienced a decidedly agitated patron in the laundry room who offered a direct physical threat. Having sought help from the management office, I was unable to feel comfortable that they would control the agitated man whose profanity and direct physical threats were of great concern. Feeling unsafe, I left the campground early without an offer of an apology by the campground or a refund for the days unused. - talldriver
Jun 2017 - $16.00
Campground is right next I-75 (traffic noise). Sites are spacious, well maintained, sites however are not level: Our side was literally a hill. It was very difficult to back into our site. Very nice scenery as we were next to the lake. - jonk90
Sep 2016 - $15.00
Very convenient for an overnight off of I75. Sites are older but electric has been upgraded. Hosts were very helpful and friendly. Gate is locked after hours with no admission...get home after curfew and you are walking! Some roads and sites were a little tight for our 33ft. Great value with the Access pass. For longer stays we prefer McKinney, which is nearby and is much more peaceful. - tom&kathryn
Jun 2007 - $26.00
Nicely shaded well manicured sites with level pad for outside cooking and or tenting. I-75 does cross over front entrance to park and sites 1 -29 noisy during the day hours. Park attendants are hit or miss regarding hospitality. Some are overly friendly and others are down right mean. We have camped at this park for 7 years now and love the convenience of local new built Publix grocery store on hwy 41 a mere 2.5 miles away. Only major complaint is that front gate is locked at 11:00PM with no exit until 7:00AM. This makes it very tough. They should combination lock the gate. I guess I should be glad for the security right? Some of the lower number sites are small but in no wake cove of lake Alattonna so boats at Blockhouse day use don't jeopardize safety when swimming. The park is controlled by the Army Core Of Engineers Mobil, AL division. Reserve USA is now sub contracted out and what a mess. Much better last season. Ugh!! Anyway nice park and don't let I-75 scare you. Its still very nice and will continue to camp there for years to come. - beech2000
Dec 2016 - $30.00
This is a campground behind the main marina building. While it has a pretty view at the lakeside, it is apparent that the main business is the marina. The entrance/exit gate is difficult to maneuver around because of all the boats and cars that are parked around it. They have a dump "hole" on the right side of the entrance, in front of the parked boats. (hole only-no water and hard to find without the small sign pointing it out.) One way in/out and the roads are extremely small and in poor condition. The site was pretty level but was buried under so many pine needles we could hardly pick out the perimeter. Fire ring, picnic table and grill at the site. No wifi but we got a good signal with Verizon and AT&T. It looks as if they have made a few improvements (laundry room with washers & dryers in the shower building, next to the marina office) but it is still a work in progress. - LizabethC
Oct 2016 - $25.00
A full service marina and campground. We have camped here. We've had a boat here and this summer for the first time we rented a pontoon to take some out of town family out on the lake. The rental was very nice and reliable. We enjoy all aspects of this marina. Very good service and prices. - Mason Moore
Aug 2011 - $35.00
There are so many things wrong with this place. The gate is broken. There is trash everywhere. The restrooms are nasty and supplies are never available. The office manager is a disorganized and very rude person. We paid $600+ for a month and a week which was not recorded properly and I received harassing calls and then when provided the receipts there was no apology just pure rudeness. Also, our window was shot out while we camped there. It was a disaster and NOT WORTH A PENNY! - TNTRVTRAV
