We really loved this park and so did our grandchildren, there is so much to do. The park grounds are very well maintained, all of the staff was friendly and helpful. The cell service was in & out and we got no OTA tv. The roads are very winding but in good shape. The only negative's I will say is that the Putt Putt golf was higher than some of the other state parks and the bath house's could use some updating. We will visit this park again. We camped at Vogel State Park in a Travel Trailer.

What a wonderful park this was! We were on site 82 with our 25 ft travel trailer. This upper Loop is reserved for tents, pop-ups and vans only ( stated on a big sign). The interior road to get to the upper loop is pretty windy and narrow, but we pulled our camper up without a problem. Some of the sites are pretty small, but 82 was plenty long for our camper and truck. We camped at Vogel State Park in a Travel Trailer.

The park is beautiful. There is a stream that runs through the campground that my girls loved walking in and playing in. The lake is clean and the water temp was perfect for a hot summer day. The sites are very close together and hard for a larger rig to move through. But the park is totally worth the effort. Hiking, swimming, boating. Would be perfect if sites had sewer. But the bathrooms were clean and close. We will be back for sure. We camped at Vogel State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

One of our favorite places to camp. We had site 65 which is in the tent/ popup. shorter trailer area. Large site with lots of room and no one on one side. Hike up hill to bathhouse but walkable unless health issues. Vogel now site specific so that really helps. Many great sites for all types of rigs. Bath houses clean. Many campground hosts scattered around campground. The campground was full but no issues. Road has noise in daytime since huge motorcycle ride place, but nothing at night. Creek sites help that issue. Small lake with paddle boards, peddle boats, kayak, etc. rental. Also put-put and hiking trails. Waterfall on property and many others close. Couple of playgrounds and small open ball field. Lots to do for all ages. Excellent place for family reunions with many choices to reserve. Also have some cottages. We camped at Vogel State Park in a Tent Trailer.

We went with some friends who got spot R and setup their tents and somehow it was double booked and they ended up kicking us off even though we were setup on there already. Odd situation. We have a 35 foot "pull through" and it was a wierd pull through because of the way the center landscaping was. I ended up actually having to back out because the turn area wasn't large enough. Wierd setup. I'd camp there again but probably in a different spot. Campground had the sound of motorcycle idiots all day on the road outside. Love being near the creek though. We would camp there again. We camped at Vogel State Park in a Motorhome.

Awesome Georgia State Park Campground tucked away in the Mountains of North Georgia. Offers fishing, hiking, boating, swimming and many outdoor activities. Campground has some un-level and deteriorating campsites, but these issues in no way affects the beautify and uniqueness of the campground! We camped at Vogel State Park in a Travel Trailer.

I would recommending hiking the Bear Hair Trail to view a beautiful vista view of the the lake from the Mountain Top. It's a moderate to difficulty trail with several creeks to cross. Allow several hours for the round trip hike.

You can now reserve a site. Over the winter the staff has done lots of upgrades and improvements throughout the park. New rails and decks on cabins, new retaining structures and rails on several RV sites and most RV sites have been graded and gravel added. One creek sites are $36 and the remainder of RV sites are $34. State parks offer a 20% discount if your over 62 ( proof) on sites so only apply a deposit when booking site so that you get your discount when you check in. Great park, good sites and excellent staff. We camped at Vogel State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Campground was relatively full so I had limited options for sites that would accomodate 34' trailer. Some of the larger sites were occupied by smaller trailers and/or tents which limited availability for sites that could accomodate larger trailers. Roads are also very tight for larger trailers. Hosts were very nice. Bathrooms were very clean and well maintained. Putt Putt golf is also available on site. We camped at Vogel State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Great hikes in the area. I Recommend the Bear Hair Gap trail. The view of the lake from the observation area was worth the hike. Blairsville is 11 miles away that has places to eat and a local Ingles and Walmart. Did not get a chance to check on Disc Golf at Meeks Park.

We have stayed at this park many times and have always found the staff and facilities to be great. Vogel has a beach, rental boats and fishing along the main lake. There are creeks and streams to enjoy, puttputt golf, play grounds and a nice camp store.

Campsites are nice size and most are private. They have 3 areas to camp in based on equipment. Tent only, rv sites and an area for pop ups and tents which can also accommodate smaller trailers: this area is serviced by a narrow road which limits the length of your unit more so than the actual camp site. We have camped in this area with an 18' Burro pulled by a standard pickup. I'd say nothing larger than this, in this area. We camped at Vogel State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful state park in the mountains above Blairsville. Windy roads to get here, and some tight turns inside the park, so be careful. But, this park is really nice. Sites are a little tight, but once you get in, there is plenty of room to spread out. We had a great time here. We camped at Vogel State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Well located and beautiful state park in the heart of Georgia's northern mountains. Vogel State Park surrounds a gorgeous small lake and is within easy drives to the historic gold mining town of Dahlonega, the charming "Bavarian" town of Helen and to the highest point in Georgia--Brasstown Bald. That said, the road into, through and out of the campground includes some very tight turns and relatively steep grades that might be a tough for large rigs. (We were towing a 29' TT) Our site was very nice sized, flat, and equipped with 30A elec. and water. WiFi did not work in our area and TV reception via a power antenna was minimal. However, the beautifully wooded surrounding and central location made up for this inconvenience. We would return and encourage others to consider this state park as a great base for exploration of the mountains in Northern Georgia. We camped at Vogel State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Allow 2-3 hours to visit Brasstown Bald-amazing views. Helen is a shoppers paradise--very touristy, Bavarian style town. Far too crowded and commercialized for our tastes. We much preferred Dahlonega--a very historic town with a great museum showcasing their gold mining history, many great looking shops, a fabulous chocolate shop with amazing truffles and several gold "mining" opportunities.

This is a beautiful state park in the north Georgia mountains. One of my favorite, if not the favorite, state parks anywhere. Friendly staff, largest campsite we have ever had anywhere next to a stream and it was pretty quiet even though filled over the weekend. We camped here around 35 years ago and since then it has only gotten better over the years. Nice camp office and store. Love this place. We were warned that a black bear and her cub had been spotted in the campground, but we never saw them. The famous Apalachian trail passes right under the portico of the building and the store has tons of backpacking supplies and clothes. Neat place on Neal's Gap. Vogel State Park is a OK park. The check in was fast; we made reservations on line about a month in advance. We stayed 6 nights. The roads are tight. I would say it is not big rig friendly. It is a old park and not designed for anything over a 30 foot RV. It was very busy and the bathrooms are small and old. One shower would flood when taking a shower. They tried to keep them clean, but with so many people there it was hard for them. The toilet paper is like sand paper! Bring your own!

They have no sewer hook ups so you have to take a shower in the bathroom or fill up your holding tank fast. They have no laundry, we had to go to town for this. It rained a lot, so make sure you tilt your awning for rain run off. The hiking trails are beautiful, but have steep grades, not for out of shape people. They have a few Black bears running around we saw one on the trail, a full grown 200 pounder! We slowly backed away from it and went back down the trail. Be careful of the yellow jacket wasps they live in the ground and if stung will ruin your day! They have a nice man made lake with a small beach that you can swim in. It got very busy on the weekend as the park filled up with locals for day use. This is a older average state park campground. Stores are very far away, bring your dirty laundry with you. Blairsville has only one laundromat. No TV and Wi-Fi is very poor and slow at the store. We camped at Vogel State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Do your shopping in Blairsville; it is a long drive from the park. Go to Brass Town Bald mountain. If you want a Disney World like tourist trap visit Helen GA. Go hiking on the trails in the park very nice and beautiful. Stop by the road side shops and get boiled peanuts and REAL Georgia peaches!!
