Overall Rating:

Great small Campground on the lake with most sites having lots of shade. Check-in is at the Main Office (museum) about a mile from the Campground. Some Lake Sites are Buddy Sites but not noted online. Could be awkward because they are close! Super clean bathroom and brand new laundry machines. It seemed like a Ranger drove through every hour and were always polite. Super clean campground. Lots to do here or Venture Out to Blakely. Great little beach, putt putt, trails and a lot of large Pavilions for family reunion, etc. There is a short pass thru the woods to the beach from the Campground. We rented a 4 person paddle boat for $10/hour (4 hours = $25), life vests included. We had Site 14 and it was 70' long! Our back window had a slight view of the lake. We thought being in the "turn" would be bad but it truly wasn't because the Campground is small. Absolutely NO Cell Service (AT&T). We drove to the Check-In to get 4G. We camped at Kolomoki State Historical Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Definitely pay the small fee for the museum (and short film) at the Main Bldg. SO worth it. Only one mound can be climbed (great 4g up there!) but worth it the free walk. Venture Out to Still Pond Winery & Distillery (about 30 minutes away). Blakely (about 15 minutes away) has grocery stores, fast food and gas...and Chinese Food! A small historic Cemetery. Bluffton (about 5 minutes) has a General Store with excellent produce, meats, jams, ice cream, gifts & supplies.

Easy to navigate. Most sites on water or with water view. Great path to beach area. Beach could of been kept cleaner, trash littered along the water and the sand. Great history of park and walkable trails to see the mounds. Museum was a must see, rangers knowledgeable and helpful. No sewer but dump site was extremely easy and convenient. Canoes, Kayaks and paddle boats were available to rent through the visitor center. We camped at Kolomoki State Historical Park in a Motorhome.

Beautiful. The sites are on a small lake and as we were leaving there were a group of kids getting ready to canoe at the main road end of campground. Very family oriented in my opinion. If I lived in this area I would be visiting this State Park frequently. The first handicap site was not level so we moved to pull through, we got in late and had our pick. We had no data signal from the two main service providers we use. Very few sites were not shaded so satellite would be an issue. We camped at Kolomoki State Historical Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The sites along the small lake would be a great choice. Have lots of board games because many sites won't get satellite service.

This is an absolutely gorgeous park! Small (only 22 sites) and dark and quiet. Just the way we like it! No cell coverage (for us anyway) but there is wifi available at the visitor center. The actual name of the park is Kolomoki Mounds. We camped at Kolomoki State Historical Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

We really enjoyed this park, the park rangers were very nice. The grounds are maintained nicely. The campground has a playground and the recreation area has 3 or 4 more along with the putt putt golf and the swimming area there is plenty for children to do. We fished and visited the mounds, they were very interesting. The park is great for just relaxing also, very quiet. We will visit the park again. We camped at Kolomoki State Historical Park in a Motorhome.

Very nice, small campground. Half the sites are right on the lake. Too cold for us to enjoy the lake, but will definitely be going back. Verizon cell service was ok. Data service was poor. We camped at Kolomoki State Historical Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is a large state park with a small campground. Hosts and registration people were very friendly and helpful. Trails and walks were numerous and relatively easy. The first 6 lakefront sites had good sky for our satellite dish. We stayed 4 nights in late fall and weather was lovely. Six miles into Blakely, but worth the trip to see this historic town. We learned a lot about the mound builder Indians and enjoyed our stay. We camped at Kolomoki State Historical Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Sites are defined and leveled gravel. Several are side by side. There are several pull thrus and several are separated by trees. Sites are generally shady. We camped at Kolomoki State Historical Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We had a wonderful time on our visit. The park was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The only complaint that we have was with trail maintenance. We like to hike, but the trails need some work. I still would highly recommend this park. We camped at Kolomoki State Historical Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stopped off here on a return trip from Florida. This park is not very large. Still, some of the sites are right on the Kolomoki Lake. There are a few very large pull-thru sites although some of the back-ins are not large enough for a big RV. The bath house was typical of a GA State Park, clean and recently renovated. A few of the water front sites are obviously set up to be double sites, although they are not denoted as such. Our truck was only about 10 feet from the neighbor?s tent. There are also sites up off the lake in a more shaded area. There are gray water dump locations between every few sites and a dump station at the entrance. Although not clearly marked, be sure and stop off at the Park Office before proceeding down to get a site. There is no Registration Office at the campground. We camped at Kolomoki State Historical Park in a Fifth Wheel.
