First the website needs to be updated. The Restaurant on site shows the Lunch Buffet for 7.48 + tax, when we went to get it - it was 10.85+tax. Big difference - when ask why and show them the website was told that they haven't updated the website. Kinda a bait and switch deal. In the pool area - all the lounge chairs are broken - basically not use able. Advertised cable available - must make deposit at office. Husband checked on this - and was advised that was for the box, but they don't have any boxes. (No cable). The grounds are nice - thankful it was not a full campground or sites would be very close. We camped at Golden Isles Vacation Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed one night, had Breakfast before leaving. Recommend this Campground. Spacious site, however sewer hook ups were very close to the next site. So we told the neighbor that we would not dump until morning. We camped at Golden Isles Vacation Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Check in took 15-20 minutes. Cable TV only available using their cable box, for a $40 refundable deposit, which you hook up to the back of your TV. We were not willing to take down our wall mounted flat screen TV to do this, so we had no cable. Wi-Fi okay. Ladies restroom/shower building was locked at 6:00 AM. Close to I-95 but not much traffic noise. We camped at Golden Isles Vacation Park in a Motorhome.

The park used to be a nice in and out for traversing Route 95. Then, they raised the price. Still, not bad for a park with poor wifi, optional cable, grass sites, dirt roads, and a large population of people who can't afford to live anywhere else. The ambience is not uplifting. We've stopped here for years but will skip it in the future. We camped at Golden Isles Vacation Park in a Motorhome.

Easy access from I-95. Plenty of room for our 38' Class A in an overnight pull through site. Roads are gravel but perfectly fine. Sites are grass but very neat. The only issue we had with the site was a lot of little ant beds. Mgmt needs to treat for ants. Did not use the wifi so can't comment. CATV was available but you had to rent a box. We used our satellite. The showers are very nice, updated and very clean. Site mostly open and sunny, one tree at end of site Stayed here with Passport America. We camped at Golden Isles Vacation Park in a Motorhome.

Good overnighter right off I-95. The check-in was easy and quick. Interior roads were adequate. The sites were just long and wide enough on grass. The wifi was OK. There was no CATV in the "overnight" pull-thru area. Most had their antennas up to catch several OTA channels. I asked at the office. They said you to find and orange cable CATV and a put a credit card down on a scramble box, remote. Didn't bother. We camped at Golden Isles Vacation Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed 1 night in a 40' 5th wheel. Easy on/off from I-95. Dirt roads within the park, and was extremely muddy/wet from recent rains. Appears to be an old park. Pull thru sites for over night stays are close, but large enough to put slides and awning out. We did not venture out around the park, so can not provide many details. OK value for over night stop and would stay again for a night. We camped at Golden Isles Vacation Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is an older park in need of some serious upgrading. We didn't use the pool, but it appeared to be in good condition. The roads are all gravel and have multiple pot holes. Sites are grass with concrete patios and picnic tables. No trash pick up, but 2 centrally located dumpsters. Unfortunately, these were emptied in the wee hours of the morning waking us up. Multiple full-timers. We seemed to be the only people picking up after our dog. The main buildings all need to be painted. While the outside needs lots of work, the office and cafe were quite clean and up to date. The staff was helpful and the food was good and reasonably priced. OK for an over night pass through. Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

The road into the park is easy to navigate, some of the roads in the park are narrow and at times blocked by cars. The park has about 145 sites, a number of them are permanent and not kept up all that well. There are a few cabins and tent sites as well. Check in was fast and friendly. We were in Site 42, a gravel and grass pull through end site. We had full hook-ups, no issues and 50 amp electric. The end site was a little wider than the others and there was a picnic table. There is a dog walking area as well as a large field and an old service road at the back of the park. We could get the WiFi to work on our phones and tablet but not on our laptops, we spoke to others who had the same issue. Verizon signal was fair.

There is a restaurant on site but it was closed while we were here. We stayed December 27, 2017 - January 2, 2018 and paid $31.00 a night with a combination of Passport America and Good Sam discounts. There was a lot of fireworks and gunshots on site on New Years Eve and construction everyday while we were here. We camped at Golden Isles Vacation Park in a Motorhome.

This campground is hard to evaluate. Positives....close to interstate for easy off and on. Truck Stop/Travel Center at exit. Grocery store nearby, Good interior roads. Level sites. New clean laundry machines. Restrooms/showers appeared recently remodeled. I did not use them because i always use mine in my motorhome.I did use the laundry and they worked just fine. Negatives......the front desk lady was not friendly at all. When I walked in she was waiting on a customer and she did not look up at that customer or ever looked at me. When the customer asked about the advertised WiFi she mumbled probably not. then when asked about the advertised cable she said you needed a box and she had none. There is no landscaping between sites. The sites are mostly grass with some gravel. Easy pull thru but very close together. Barely room for your picnic table between your RV and your neighbors hookups. No fire rings. No shade. The sewer connection is at the back of the site. Extra extensions needed to reach it. Good Electric and water connections. Good Verizon signal. A few good over the air TV stations. It appears that about 50% of the sites are either yearly or seasonal. They do appear mostly tidy. The entire campground just looks old . Being near the interstate there is highway noise but did not seem obtrusive. Would I stay there again? yes. For $20 it was a good stop on the way to your destination. We camped at Golden Isles Vacation Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

I stayed the winter here, from December through May 2017. It's $500/month, including electricity. There is laundry on site as well as a diner with a M-F breakfast and lunch buffet that is very popular. Non-campers come in droves to eat there. The campground is pretty nice but run-down in parts. Certain areas are where folks have been living there for years. Other areas seem to be where the folks come and stay a while, then move on. Some shaded lots, some in open sun. I highly recommend the shaded ones. You're not paying for the electric here, but the a/c is working overtime. The water had a strange and very unpleasant smell to it at times and then it would resolve. There is something that bubbles up from something (can only assume it's sewage) near the center green area where the dogs are to be walked. I saw that they were working on that the week I was leaving so maybe it will never be an issue again. I did see the bathrooms and they looked fine. Private shower stalls. Laundry facilities were nice. Never had any problems using them. Close to Winn Dixie and other stores. Nice area where you're driving over bridges that cross over inlets to the sea. Very close to Jekyll Island. Hospitals and Veterinary clinics are nearby, truckstops are right around the corner. Campground isn't far from I-95. I would go back again, but choose my site more carefully. And I'd try the buffet, finally. There is a pool but not open in winter months (though it could be, as hot as it was most of the time.) There is a covered picnic table area outside of the office, near the pool, with ceiling fans. AND you get your own mail slot in the office. You can have packages delivered there, too. Convenient. However, the gals behind the counter are workcampers and with all those plates spinning, they can get overwhelmed. They need to have more than one person behind the counter. Ask for fire ring or you won't get one. Wifi isn't bad and can get cable if you get a box from the office. We camped at Golden Isles Vacation Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Find a shady spot, enjoy the local bird chatter, get yourself to the beach, treat yourself to the buffet, buy your propane at the truck stop, not the campground, and just have a good time. Have a couple of jugs of drinking water on hand for times their water gets a little sulphur'ish.

We usually rely on the ratings in the Good Sam travel guide when looking for an overnight stop. After staying here we thought the owners brother must have rated this park. All gravel roads and sites; most very rough and uneven. They advertise "cable TV" but it is an antique Comcast system that you must plug your set into a receiver box- impossible when your TV is built-in. Well, we did have water, electric and sewer hook-up but that is the best we can say for this park. We camped at Golden Isles Vacation Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here as a base for touring Jekyll Island and St. Simons Island. We ended up staying here for 5 nights. The price reflects the PA rate for the first 3 nights with 50 amp. The last 2 nights were at the regular rate of $37.50. This was an OK park. the sites are a little close. They are mostly pull through. Plenty long for our 35' fifth wheel and truck. The park is well located for visiting the islands. There's a Winn-Dixie market just down the street, but it's a bit of a drive for any other shopping. We would probably stay here again if in the area. We camped at Golden Isles Vacation Park in a Fifth Wheel.
