CAUTION-slow down for speed bumps they are whoppers!!! We stayed here twice in January, first for 2 weeks, then a week away and back for a week. It is a simple campground in the middle of the hussel and bussel of the city. There is tons of shopping and food choices within a few minutes drive, if you can survive the ongoing traffic. It can be noisy on a cold crisp night when the traffic sounds from the nearby highway carry. It is important to know that first the office closes at 5pm on Friday and doesn't open until 8am on Monday and second if you do not have a mailbox your mail will go to the office for you to pick up and always remember to put your site number preceded by RV since there are permanent residents there and without the RV 100 your delivery could be in limbo for a while. FedEx and UPS deliver to your site if it is one package but USPS mail goes to office. Great place and large sites for short stays. - witchey1

Very basic park, mainly full time residents. Park located close to i-85, few miles from i-285 and close to Atlanta. Located in a commercial area with some housing nearby. Called in before arriving and we were told to just pick a transient site as we were arriving after the office closed. Staff answering phone was friendly. We followed GPS and it took us to the park. Stopped at office, picked up park map. No other instructions. Followed yellow arrows to transient area. We drove past all the sites, and only one was open, so we came around again, and took that site. Our site was dirt/sand base, narrow long pull thru, full hook up. There was a tree next to us, but were able to get satellite. The site next to us had a reserved cone, and the RVer came in right after us. He told us they reserved it for him. There were no other sites open, and we watched an RV come in later, and leave because there wasn't any open sites. We only noticed one other overnighter, as the rest of the limited stay spots seem to be full timers. If you call, tell them to assign you a site to reserve. If we came a little later, we would have not been able to stay. There are two electric hook up sites out front the office, but those are on a slight hill and have a sign for registration. Sites are close together, the other side of our site was packed with cars. Little green space to walk dogs. We were there on a weeknight, therefore quiet evening. Noise starts around 6 in the morning when people are leaving for work. Basic rate is $35.00, put payment in envelope, drop in rent slot at office. This worked for a quick overnight stay close to Atlanta highways but not for extended stay. - KKColorado
Aug 2017 - $34.00
My rating is based on an overnight stay. Easy on/off on I-85. We arrived on a Sunday when they are closed. We were told to take any open spot on the right. We took site 101 which was level and quite long. We had no one on either side but the sites are close together. The office doesn't open until 9:00 a.m. So we placed our payment in an envelope and deposited in a slot by the office. The power was fine but water pressure a little low. Most of this park appears to be full timers and around 6:30 a.m. The departing traffic in the park was heavy. Overall, recommended for a quick overnight stay northeast of Atlanta! - Rd yacht

Nice wide and deep spaces. All connections (sewer, water and electric) were smartly placed and easy to find. The staff (check in, camp store and grounds) were all super friendly. The only negative was that our site was on the main road in the park and some drivers did not adhere to the posted speed limit. - ETCTA
Mar 2018 - $50.00
Stayed here with a group. Large campground with many types of sites. We were in the premium section. Our site had a wooden deck overlooking the lake. Deck had a picnic table and a gas grill. Propane supplied by the campground. Easy check-in. Sites are well marked. We would stay here again. - RLH
Mar 2018 - $50.00
We stayed in our 45' motorhome for several nights. Near freezing cold weather really slowed things down at the park. Things were pretty quiet. Our 30-RV group used the open pavilion for gatherings and meals. There is a fireplace in the pavilion so that helps keep some warmth in the building. Staff was friendly and responsive to any requests. Our back-in site was fairly level, gravel with picnic table and grill. However, due to rain the entire day prior to our arrival the utility hookup area was completely covered in water. We alerted the staff & they brought a load of base gravel to try to mitigate the standing water. Many of the sites need to have the gravel re-leveled & edged. Several paved roads need asphalt patching as there are broken off/cracked areas. Overall a good place to stay. Recommend you walk your site first before bringing RV to the space. Note: Left Lane at Entrance gate to park is EXTREMELY tight for large RVs. Approach slowly! Swing a wide right into the Campground as there is a stone monument divider at the entrance. Inside campground, the roads can have tight turns. - 2SimsNanRV

Disclaimer: I was in town for a family gathering and wanted to check out this park out so I stopped by. My first stop was the MWR office. The excellent value rating is the price. There are a lot of services available at this office, unfortunately, caring that there was an RV park on-site wasn't one of them. The young lady answered my questions but couldn't provide a map or brochure for the park. She also wouldn't take reservations either...call first before coming here! I got directions to the park and headed out. There is a sign at the entrance for new arrivals. Step 1, pick a spot. Step 2 check in at the office. Too bad there aren't any empty spots. One possible spot had somebody's car in it. Very heavy tree cover throughout. The road is narrow and trees are close. Every occupied spot had evidence of long-term occupation; semi-permanent steps, PVC poo pipes, fences and in one case a lawn! Yep, a honest-to-goodness real grass lawn! To his credit he had a sign for the "FAMCAMP spot of the month"!! I think that since this is a reserve base the rules may be different as far as long term/permanent party occupation of the FAMCAMP. I don't think we'll stop here. Good Luck! - CGRetired

I agree with the other camper who said not to bother. We have camped at several military campgrounds and have always had a good experience. This is an exception to those other campgrounds. First we called the office number numerous times on different days and got a recording, left messages for call back and nothing. 3 hours before we arrived we called the office# and finally a woman answered and said there were 5 open sites. We arrived to find one site taped off with yellow caution tape, another site with a van parked off to the side in the woods but no vehicle on the pad. We pulled out and parked in parking area in front of the office hut and husband called base security to ask if it was OK to dry camp for the night. He was told to go to a building and check in which he did but guy in office had no idea why he was told that! Husband came back and drove back into campground to look at the site where van was parked and another camper told him the owner takes his rig out and is gone for days meaning site is not paid for but discourages someone from using it. We paid and used the site for the night. The remaining sites were occupied by long term people but not all workers. 1 retiree had been there since October so 2 week rule not in-forced. Another site had a 35' motorhome, 30' tow trailer, the truck to haul the trailer and 3 cars. Another site had a portable garage frame with tarp setup in front of the trailer. I would dry camp in a Walmart parking lot before returning here. - petpeople
Dec 2012 - $12.00
Nice park with several sites available but the bathrooms, specifically the men's was atrocious. One toilet was severely messed up and wasn't cleaned for two days! The women's was fine and I had no problem. A few sites were 50' long and nicely separated from your neighbor. Quiet and nice park. There is a little bar that is busy during the week. Our neighbor, Jeff, who is responsible in some fashion there, was extremely helpful when we were concerned about getting to the dump station in the morning - someone was parked there and he made sure they moved. The biggest issue we had was on our departure GATE 2 (which is the only RV accessible gate) is closed on the weekends, which we did not know!! Luckily for us the security spotted us heading for the exit and flagged us down to wait while he brought someone up to open up the gate for us. So it all worked out fine, but if you're planning on arriving or leaving on the weekend you should call first to find out the proper procedure. We camped here in a motorhome. - Bill & Debby's Wild Ride

We were here for a month while receiving medical care at Emory. The managers are pleasant, kind and easy to deal with but work on a limited schedule. The park is a mixture of full time mobile homes and RVs passing through. No bathrooms, store or playground. Pool closed in Sept. The roads were recently repaved. Our site was level. It was quiet even up front. Water pressure is high but we always use a regulator so no problem. WiFi good at our site. Lots of restaurants and shopping in walking distance. Not scenic but clean, safe, tidy and pleasant for walking. Thankfully they enforce poop scooping for pets. Would stay again if in the area. - rudyhehn
Apr 2017 - $60.00
Park needs updating. Roads are paved but rough. Pool is open May to Sept. we had a pull thru site and it was level but I saw other spots that weren't. Concrete patios no picnic table at our site. Roomy spots. We didn't have to unhook the tow. Stayed one night passing thru. Food, gas, etc near by. We walked to a gas station to pick up a couple things. Plenty of grassy areas for walking the dog. Tennis court in bad shape. We in the back so it was quiet. - Patricia57
Nov 2016 - $40.00
Run down park with no amenities. We were there in the summer and the pool (which is already small) was closed. Sites are super narrow; we were afraid we would slide off the gravel! And it was not at all level. We have automatic jacks but had to use blocks, so that our wheels were not off the ground. Ugh. It's quiet enough; that is about the only positive I have here. But the folks who run it are nuts when it comes to dogs - actually stopped and harassed us to see if we had a bag with us when walking our dog! - Georgia family campers

Aug 2017 - $41.00
Calling this a resort is like calling a beat up old Caddy a luxury car. It's an old park with minimal upgrades. It's tight and the speed bumps bear the scars of many landing pad scrapes. The sites are so close that there's no parking for a vehicle other than on the street, which makes it even worse getting in and out. Lot of permanent residents, with junk outside. The sites are crumbling blacktop for a pad, not level.
The biggest problem we had was with the manager on duty when we arrived. After check in we were assigned a site. With cars in the street I had to jack a 40' 5th wheel around a car, and miss an old motor home that was just over the edge of the street on the other side. It was tight, but we managed to get in. When I plugged in the EMS and flipped the breaker it immediately tripped, then showed no voltage. I tried it two more times then went to the office. The manager who checked me in acted like it was big imposition to even come out, telling me and everyone else in earshot about how he didn't want to do this and he didn't want to mess with this crap. When he couldn't get a reading on the breaker he then wanted me to plug in my RV. Politely told him I would plug in my EMS, but not RV on a plug that had already shown a problem. Apparently that really made him mad because he told me that if I didn't plug in my RV he'd refund my money and I could leave. We were in a bind and needed a site because of commitments, so I asked about another site. He pointed to a small site across the street, and told me I could take it or leave it, despite several other larger sites nearby. We did get into the site, with the front at the edge of the street, but at least the EMS showed good power. Several neighbors who had heard the man came up to us after he left and all said they couldn't believe how rude and arrogant the man was. Will never stay here again, and would advise anyone else to find another park. - Wraber
Jul 2017 - $41.00
Location, location, location. Close to Atlanta, the Braves ballpark and other attractions. The park is older but comfortable. It was easy to navigate for our 24 ft. RV. The owners were helpful in getting us a 5 day stay by moving us around but that was fine with us; it helped us out. There a few big rig spaces but not many. Close to Hwy 75 with no traffic noise. We would come back. - NancyD382
Jun 2017 - $42.00
Not a resort. This is in the perfect location for Braves Baseball and amenities in Marrietta and nearby Atlanta. Staff is friendly. The huge drawback of this park are the speed "mountains" throughout the park. Everything scrapes bottom--jacks included unless you are able to angle perfectly which is difficult with cars parked out in the roads. Sites are very tight. - krj89

ADMIN NOTE (February 2017): It has been reported that this park is now only open to event participants.
NOTE (October 2015): THE RENOVATIONS PLANNED FOR THE SUMMER OF 2015 DID NOT OCCUR, BUT ARE NOW UNDERWAY. THIS PARK WILL NOT BE OPEN AGAIN UNTIL EARLY 2016. - ramblin' vagabonds

April 9, 2015 ADMIN NOTE: The manager of this park has reported to us that the facility (Jim R. Miller Park) is undergoing MAJOR renovations and will not have RV Sites available until AFTER SEPTEMBER 2015.
We were at this park for 16 nights. The rate is $15.00 per night for 1 night or 16- very reasonable. The staff is very helpful. It's one of the Georgia State Fairgrounds, but the campground is separate from the Fairgrounds. It can be quite busy with many police related facilities in the area. There is a police shooting range nearby that can be heard at times. The fairgrounds is also used for many police and ambulance related practices and training. In most cases you would never know it's going on. - dthurk
Aug 2014 - $15.00
Giving this an extra point for being so affordable. One set of restrooms was locked and leaking water under the door. The other wasn't very clean and the trash hadn't been emptied in awhile. Not much to do, BUT it's quiet (if there are no events), pleasant, spacious and HUs work well. Only 1/2 mile to Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield National Park and as convenient to Atlanta as anything else we could find. Enter through Gate 1. Stayed several days and will definitely be back. . - TheRollingJones

Nice people, well maintained, check or cash only, full hook-ups, Sprint cell good, Satellite locked easily. Most water front sites do not have sewer. The electrical box on our site was about 10" above the ground, our slide went over it easily - very innovative! Some might call our site, the big gravel lot, but the beauty was the drainage when it rains and parking for our MDT. Plenty of room to back in. We will come back! - Born2RV
Apr 2018 - $35.00
As detailed in previous reviews, the permanent sites on the hill in the trees are well spaced, the lower transient & lakeside sites are jammed together in a couple of gravel parking lot areas. The utilities are hap-hazard arranged in the rear of the sites ON the ground. AT&T mifi was 2 bars, campground wifi was weak to none. OTA was about 30+ channels. There is NO cable TV and NO playground areas. Only thing going for this campground is the lakes which are really just large ponds. OK for an overnight or 2 but that's all. - lllkrob
Mar 2018 - $25.00
This is a strange park. Half the park is in a wooded area on a hill, and those sites are well-spaced, shaded and very attractive. The other half is more like a WalMart parking lot with hookups. Unfortunately, we were in the latter. Our site was gravel, and if we opened our awning, it hung over the driveway that provided access to our site plus two others. The park seems to cater to a lot of semi-permanent or permanent residents, and there is a school bus that comes into the park to pick up kids. Staff was friendly. Propane and ice available and reasonably priced. - rlemke53

This place should be burned to the ground. It's beyond words how bad the infrastructure is. Many sites have power poles that are destroyed or worse, bare wire with electrical tape. The roads are narrow and pothole laden, and the water can range from normal to green slime coming from the water tap. The majority of the guests are monthly renters who have turned this place into a worse than trailer park situation. Avoid at all costs. - cjcoombs
Jun 2015 - $25.00
This is the most horrible park we have ever stayed at. We were wishing that we had just parked in a truck stop for the night. the site was horrible uneven We could not even put our slides out because we could not put down jacks as it was so uneven. They have only 30amp service . Tthis place has some potential but it needs a lot of work to get up to what people want in a RV park . - indian
Aug 2013 - $30.00
This place was beautiful on a lake with water side camp sites. It would be a solid 10 if they would install AC in the restrooms. Paved streets, paved sites, very clean. When it is 95 degrees outside, it is over 100 degrees in the restrooms. Just cool them down and this is a great park. I will be back. - aliner man

Definitely a mixed bag. Mostly long term, working folks with a few transient spots. Nice clean new showers and laundry. Sites are a little tight and there is a surplus of mud when it rains. But is is very peaceful and quiet at night (except for train whistles in the distance). Tucked into a residential area with narrow but navigable streets to get in and out. Call for reservations - don't bother with the web site form, it won't be answered. Friendly staff though when you call. Quite expensive for what you get but supply is quite limit near Atlanta. We stayed 3 nights. - MNroadie

Filled out online reservations never got a call or email. Had to call, l got some one that was telling me l could only stay one maybe two nights, because of the age of my rv. It's a 97 but in great shape. He told me to contact the lady who is the one that makes reservations. She never answered the phone. When I got there my rv was one of if not the nicest one there. The roads are in rough shape you have to drive very slow. This place is in very poor condition. Never got wifi, after trying for a hour I just gave up. No cable tv. Most of the people staying there seemed to be long term. I would only stay here as a last resort. - dmb123

We booked and paid for our site online. There was no one at the gatehouse but we knew our site number and parked there. Beautiful sites and gorgeous views on the lake. Sites have water and electric. There is a good dump station on your way out. Sites are clean and well maintained with concrete pads for the Rv. Roads are paved. We loved this park and would definitely recommend! - Mimi-Papa
Apr 2017 - $32.00
This was a really great park for a 2 night stay. We stayed Fri-Sun and had a great time. The sites were nicely laid out with some decent privacy between them. Each had water and power (50amp) and a picnic table with a fire ring. They sold firewood on site. The campground is right on a lake which was beautiful and very serene. There were some boats on the lake (Lake Lanier is extremely popular for boaters) but we did not notice any extra noise. The staff were all very nice. The dump station would be my only "ding" on this park as getting in requires some tight turns. Also, the park gates close at 10:30 so you have to be in or you get locked out. - clink-182
Feb 2017 - $15.00
Sites 12 thru 25 are the most scenic and are the ones being reviewed. They are on a peninsula overlooking the lake. All sites have tall pines offering shade and sun. The parking pads are paved and level but narrow. They also have picnic tables that sit on a concrete pad and offer a fire ring as well as a BBQ grill. The only draw back to many of the sites is the ground drops off steeply from the parking pads making exit/entry to your camper difficult. We were in site #20 and to get to the first step of our camper was about 20 inches. If it were not for this I would have given the sites a rating of 10. - Poe Dog
