Convenient location for a hiking base camp or water sports on Lake Burton. Close to the Appalachian Trail and other hiking trails. Fish hatchery next door and good fishing nearby. The sites are very close together, and the campground is small. During the summer months it can get very noisy with boats and watercraft on the lake. Staff was very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. The gate is locked at 10pm and unlocked at 7am. Very clean grounds and sites were adequate size. Water pressure good and electric was clean and stable. Has both small tent sites and can accommodate large rigs. Bathrooms were clean and showers had hot water. Firewood and ice available and a very small but well stocked "store". We camped at Moccasin Creek State Park in a Tent.

This has been a favorite park of ours for many years. Located next door to a trout hatchery on the shores of Lake Burton it offers fishing and hiking without having to drive anywhere. The stream separating the campground and hatchery is stocked weekly - only open to those under age 11 and over age 65. Fantastic Sunday church service in the park under the pavilion. We camped at Moccasin Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There's a fish hatchery right next door with thousands of trout at varying developmental stages. Also, across the street is a beautiful hike up to Hemlock Falls. The fishing docks over the lake are nice to walk out on. The swings are a wonderful place to enjoy the sunset.

Nice, smaller SP in the mtns of NE Georgia. Clean bathhouses with good hot water and pressure, nice assortment of products in the office for sale like shirts, hats, bait, general supplies. Trout fishing, nice stream and lake views. Paved roads with crush-n-run drives and all seemed to look level. No cell or internet service, would have been nice at times, but in the big picture you're not suppose to be inside anyway..... We camped at Moccasin Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

This was our first camping trip in our new camper. We have a lot to learn but we really enjoyed this camp ground. It was well kept and the people in the office were very helpful and friendly. The only reason I did not give it a 10 was because the spot we had we could not get the full use of our awning because of a tree. We stayed for 3 nights and really enjoyed camping here and the trout fishing near by. We camped at Moccasin Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a nice small park. The sites are nice, but close together. This is not a park to go to if you want privacy. The restroom facilities were one of the nicest I've seen in my 20 years of camping. Also, had nice laundry facilities. The Park is on the edge of Lake Burton, which is very pretty, especially at dusk. Little bike riding opportunity within park - just one paved loop around the park. The GPS stated that the campground was on Hwy 97 coming from Clarkesville several miles before where the CG is actually located. Just something to be aware of if you use a GPS. We camped at Moccasin Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a very nice park as are most of Georgia's State Parks. The lots were level and roomy. There was plenty of shade as we were beside the stream. Park has nice playground and is beside a fish hatchery so my 3 year old had a great time. The only reason it is not a 10 is the lack of sewer, but dump station is very convenient. Camp host and park staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We camped at Moccasin Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Even without 50 amp and sewer, this campground is on the most beautiful lake in Georgia. We were there for a week and barely had to run the air. Great park, but get your reservations early, they book quickly because it is a small park. We camped at Moccasin Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Plenty of shady spots and a nice creek flows along side the campground. The bath house has been rebuilt and is much improved over 2 years ago. Some sites could use more gravel but overall a good place to camp. We camped at Moccasin Creek State Park in a Motorhome.
