This is a very nice campground. Unfortunately, there were gnats everywhere and made it impossible to sit outside. We parked in the loop not by the water. The sites were spaced farther apart and not as many people. We camped at Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park in a Tent Trailer.

Really a nice campground. One of the vest state parks we have stayed in. We had a huge pull thru site close to the lake. We were lucky to get the site though because it was very full and you do not get an assigned site. It seemed that people were having spaces saved for them because chairs were blocking open spots and someone was putting reserved tags on sites and the people were coming in late at night. No sewer hookups if you plan on staying longer and out sit only had 30 amp service. The wifi worked great as well as the cable. Only negative was the black gnats, they were everywhere probably because of the lake. We would definitely stay again. We camped at Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We had made reservations for 3 nights with the hopes of staying a few more days if we liked it....it was beautiful! We arrived late on a Sunday and found clear directions at Welcome Center for late check in...drove up to campground and found our paper with our name on it. This park is a first come first serve and apparently we got super lucky and got a huge spot right on the lake. It was dark so wouldn't see our surroundings until the next morning. Gorgeous park....quiet and well maintained. We checked in and was greeted by a very nice gal at the desk that answered all of our questions...where to buy propane(across street at Bait shop) where to get groceries (across street at Stiplings General Store) and laundry (they had facilities at the park). We hiked and biked here, great trails setup. Tried to go to the Cypress Grill didn't know that is open only seasonally and sometimes only the weekend. Enjoyed Cordele's though...great lunch and even better dinner. The little lounge in main lodge was also very nice. Water service and electric were on point. No sewer but totally fine and used dump on way out which was clean. Also take note the SAM Train only runs on weekends as we didn't know that either and was little disappointed but the park more than makes up for that. We camped at Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed for 1 night as a stopover on the way to Florida. This was a very nice campground and our site was on Lake Blackshear. Had a display of airplanes, helicopters & other military equipment that was very interesting! Would stay longer if we were in the area again. We camped at Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park in a Travel Trailer.

My wife and I just returned from a 4-night visit to Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park. This is a park that we've wanted to visit for quite some time. We certainly weren't disappointed. The sites are very roomy and the manner in which the sites are arranged RV'ers are afforded a high level of privacy. The employee checking us in was very nice, polite and helpful. We will return to this park again as it is about 100 miles from our home. I would've given the park a 10, but I just can't give a 10 w/o sewer connections at the site. There are a several interesting places to visit in the area. Plains, GA (Home of former US President Jimmy Carter), (Andersonville National Historic site which includes the former site of Camp Sumter "Civil War" military prison, the Andersonville National Cemetery, and the National Prisoner of War Museum, which opened in 1998 to honor all U.S. prisoners of war in all wars) and the (Habitat for Humanity Global Village & Discovery Center in Americus, GA). We camped at Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park in a Motorhome.

This CG is associated with the Lake Blakeshear Resort. Sites are non-specific, so get there as early in the day as you can to have a shot at the best sites. The posts that are painted green are 50amp, the ones that are unpainted are 30 amp (we were not told this upon check in). About 1/3 of the sites are "water" sites. The sites are a little tight for my liking and I was disappointed to see them adding more sites in part of the CG. Those sites were even closer with no trees or other vegetation to afford privacy. There is good WiFi available in the CG. The bathrooms are old, but well maintained and fairly clean (all except a sour smell because someone didn't clean out their mop one day!). There are static military exhibits that are pretty interesting - several tanks and airplanes from the WWII and Vietnam era. This CG is very convenient for those traveling I-75 or U.S. Hwy 280, both major roads. There is one general store with fuel (gas and diesel) in the area, in fact the general store has a pretty respectable meat market. The Park/Resort has golf, a short-line railroad that runs to Cordele, Ga., a couple of restaurants, frisbee golf, and an RC flying field. Geocaching is promoted in this park. We camped at Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This was our second overnite stay at this campground. We chose a 30 amp pull thru site at the back of Loop 3 since we did not need to run air conditioning. Sites are generally spacious and offer some privacy. The park offers many inviting attractions for longer stays such as lake sites, lodge, golf, Sam Shortline train and military history. The park is located about 10 miles from Cordele. Stripling's Meat Market near the entrance is well worth a visit. We camped at Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice park. Every site is either on the lake or very close. Good golf is 1/2 mile from campsite. very clean. No sewer but dump is convenient and clean. Showers were very clean. They even came by and raked our gravel. Park host was very visible. We camped at Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park in a Travel Trailer.

There are 3 beautiful camping areas next to each other. Areas 1 & 2 have beautiful, back-in, water front sites and area 3 is wooded. You pick your site when you come in. The very narrow road is paved, but compromised by tree roots. Sites are packed sand/dirt for your unit, but the picnic table & grill areas are on pea gravel. Grass between sites is nicely mowed and trees are nicely trimmed. Gnats and ants are abundant, so be prepared. If you have a smaller boat & a waterfront sites, you can pull your boat ashore. Restrooms/showers are newer & spotless. The free WIFI did not work at all. We camped at Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park in a Travel Trailer.

-excellent Lakeside rv park/campground with many lakeside backin sites, and others that ate backin or pullthrus
-manuvering may be difficult for some longer units since trees border the lanes, but also provide a lot of shade during the hot months
-sites are mostly gravel base, with r/r tie edges, and elec, water, cable, and free Fast wifi(some offer 50a, ours had two 30a, a first for us)
-sites are mostly adequately spaced, though some have curiously close 'picnic' areas right into the neighboring site, strange.
-Overall a good place, if the weather is tempered(mostly hot and humid July and August especially) We camped at Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park in a Motorhome.

Word to the wise, if you camp here bring ant bait and spread it around your camp site, around the parameter of your camper around anything that touches the ground. If you don't, you WILL be invaded by ants this I promise you.

If you're lucky enough to get a water side camp site beware all sorts of flying insects anytime the temperature raises. Beautiful campground, we camp here at least 3-4 times a year. Golf Carts are allowed but must be completely street legal and are only allowed to be used in the camping area. This really sucks because the rest of the park is beautiful. Check-in at the main entrance then select any open spot. On the first night we stayed in the upper area away from the water. The next day we were able to move to a spot right next to the water after the morning exodus. The outdoor display of military equipment was very interesting. The military museum was very small and lights weren't on in many areas, making it difficult to see several displays. Staff seemed generally indifferent, but the park itself is excellent. We also ate at the resort restaurant. The food was good, but the service was very slow with only our family and one other in the place. We camped at Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park in a Motorhome.

Overnighting here was easy and relaxing. Seems to be a destination type of park, especially for families. The variety of activities invites campers to stay for a while. Sites range from tight lake front views to wide open camping away from the water. Fire ant mounds suggest that bugs could be a problem in warmer weather; gnats gathered in our adult beverages as we enjoyed the sundown. This park is definitely on our "leisurely visit" list. We camped at Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Our GPS took us via the rear entrance so had no signs for registration station and ended in campground that was nearly full even though we had been told the day before that reservations were not needed. We unhooked toad and went to registration station as we were not to be on sites without being registered. Since, Georgia Parks are on a first come first serve basis which means no site specific even with registration. The staff are efficient but not friendly, and most sites are level and very spacious with the only 50 amp service in sites boarding the lake. All other sites are 30 amp and we found many electrical posts with broken/cracked receptacles. Utilities, however, were strong but the interior paved roads are suffering from tree root invasion and our motorhome duals didn't not enjoy,so beware especially campground 2. We camped at Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park in a Motorhome.
