This place has a split personality. There's a section with monthly or seasonal sites. They are very wooded & seem to have space between sites. There's sites as you come in that are on gravel & looks like a parking lot. Very close sites. We're in a section that is also on gravel. Some space between sites, back up to a grassy area. The picnic table is old. I don't think we'd come back here. We camped at Twin Lakes RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Utilities are in the right place on our site and worked well, although the water hookups are in a hole underground making it awkward to access (it is because it freezes in winter). WIFI was strong and consistent with our signal amplifier. There are no excellent RV parks in the north Atlanta area, so this is clearly the best there is. Sites are level on gravel and easy to access. Nice ponds with fountains. If you want to have a site on the water don't plan to stay long - they have no sewer hookups. Park remains in the 19th century in that they do not take credit cards. We camped at Twin Lakes RV Park in a Motorhome.

My site was a pull thru that was not level and was just long enough for my 33 foot 5th wheel. The sites are very close together. During the night, some idiot was using the campground roads as a drag strip. This campground is more of a mobile home park than a recreational park. If you are staying here, you are better off taking a site down by the lake. I will not stay here again. We camped at Twin Lakes RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Really good Campground 30 minutes from downtown Atlanta and 10 minutes from Lake Lanier. It is close to the highway but not so close that traffic is audible. Very quiet and dark at night. The lakes (really just big ponds) are attractive and a walking path bisects them and continues on around the back of the property. Premium sites are level but on a very steep hill that was challenging to enter/exit some of the sites due to the slope and narrow entry. I wouldn't want to try getting a 45 footer in some of these (others would be fine). Once in, the premium sites are huge and level. Most would easily accommodate two or even 3 RV and tow car. Due to the slope of the hill, your uphill neighbor will look right into your windows when they sit outside. Our 50amp power did not work, the campground had it fixed (old wiring missing a second ground) in less than 3 hours. Premium sites will almost certainly have no satellite access due to trees. Sites along the lake will have satellite but are closer together and have water and power but no sewer. Interior roads are paved but a little rough in spots. No bathrooms or laundry as far as we could tell. Turning out of the campground onto the main road can be tricky with traffic. Grocery stores, food, fuel, and plenty of shopping (Target, Wal-Mart, Best Buy) nearby. Cash or check only. We extended our stay because we enjoyed it so much. Reservations are on the honor system since they only accept cash; no real penalty for no shows. We had to move spots when we extended due to our spot being "booked" but nobody ever showed up at it. Office staff are nice and helpful. Price is extremely fair for the campground. For an extra $5 the premium sites are a bargain as they are far larger than the lakeside sites and have full hookups (as long as you don't mind the hill and the lack of satellite). I would definitely stay here again. We camped at Twin Lakes RV Park in a Motorhome.

Twin Lakes is about 10 minutes north of Alpharetta so it's in a convenient location for visiting that area (we were there to visit friends). There's a great supermarket (Ingles) just a mile or so away. Access to the park is down a narrow local road but it's not far so wasn't a major issue. The park itself is in a pretty, scenic location, but the sites themselves are problematic. If you're able to get a premium site (we weren't, they were all taken, even though we made our reservation over a month in advance), you'll have a huge wooded site, possibly shared with another RV, tiered along a very steep hill. The standard sites, only $5 cheaper, are tightly packed in a dead-end gravel parking lot (a trailer that came in after us spent 15 minutes making a 20-point turn trying to get backed into their site at the end of the lot). The other odd thing about our lot was that the water spigot was embedded in the ground, rather than on a post, making it difficult (and wet and muddy) to hook up the water. We paid $30/night, and the rate goes up to $35 for 2017, no credit cards accepted. The WiFi worked decently well when we could get connected, but there were plenty of times it refused to connect. Apart from the disappointment of the site, the area is pretty and quiet, and there's a short loop trail around one of the lakes which we walked our dog on daily (it requires some rock-hopping over a stream). Overall it's a decent home base for a local visit but if we return it'll be just for a few days to visit friends again (unless a premium site is available, in which case we might stay a little longer). We camped at Twin Lakes RV Park in a Motorhome.

I stayed here in a premium site for 2.5 years while working in Alpharetta. Although my site had lots of trees, I was able to use my Winegard Walk Out for DTV with no problem year round. The reason the water hook ups are in the ground is so they work in the winter - it can get down in the single digits and it is mandatory that you have a properly heated and insulated water hookup from Oct - Mar. The staff are great. Even when we lost power (entire campground) during an ice storm, it was restored the next morning. Very safe park and plenty of places within easy access for dining, shopping, etc. Highly recommend this park. We camped at Twin Lakes RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Shopping at the shopping center just off GA 400. Lowes, Wal Mart, Best Buy, etc and eateries one exit up. Lanier Tire is just up the road if you need service of that type and they do RVs -bought GY 614s from them.

We chose this campground due to it's proximity to friends living in Cumming. We stayed 23 nights. Due to our long stay, we chose full hook-ups and were put on the "plateau" containing sites 41-51. This plateau is a gravelly, rocky, dirt parking area with zero landscape or charm. If the sites next to you are occupied, you're fairly close together. When it rained, there were some puddles but they were navigable. If you can live without sewer, I suggest trying sites 71-74 & 80-90 which are alongside the lake. If you happen to have a motorhome & can finagle your hoses, ideally you can pull head-in so your windshield gives you a big, wonderful lake view. While we didn't specifically love the plateau area, we loved everything else about this CG. The staff were super friendly and helpful and happily recd packages for us. They also gave us coaching on how to handle freezing temps. The park allowed us to leave our MH unoccupied for a week while we took a trip. Additionally I had to stay alone a few nights while the hubby traveled and I felt perfectly safe. All hook-ups worked perfectly. The CG wifi was intermittent. We had excellent Verizon cell, Sprint Mifi and DirecTV sat signal. If we needed to return to this area, we would certainly considering staying here again. We camped at Twin Lakes RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The greater Atlanta area has lots of traffic so plan accordingly. The CG is 45-60 minutes to downtown and 60-75 minutes to the airport. The CNN tour is over-priced and only worth if it you're a CNN fan and/or tv broadcast fan. The Jimmy Carter Presidential Library is a little small and less snazzy compared to other presidential libraries but worth a half-day visit if you're interested. The town of Dalonega is very cute if you're up for a drive and have a day to explore.

Easy to get into. we were parked up and away from the lake, basically in a gravel parking lot. There is parking down by the lake, but full when we arrived. We had enough room to put out slides and there was a picnic table. No privacy but we felt comfortable enough. The area was very pretty, with a lake and a few swing sets. I found such peace sitting on those swings, watching the fountains spout. We had a full hook up. Close to 400 and you could get around pretty easily. We don't look for activities so this was satisfactory for us and we would stay again. We camped at Twin Lakes RV Park in a Motorhome.

This was pretty much the only RV park in the area for us to use as a base to visit family/friends over the past several years. Other than some sites in the woods it's just three gravel parking lots. The water connection is in the ground. I often had to bail out the muddy water to connect/disconnect the water. Owners/staff are very nice. No clubhouse. No restrooms or showers. No pool. Wifi worked this last time we were there. Wishing there were more convenient choices, but there aren't. It's overpriced a bit for what they offer. It's really only worth no more than $25/night. We camped at Twin Lakes RV Park in a Motorhome.

It is a very nice place to spend a night or a week. It is kept neat and clean and while we were there it was quiet. The sites near the office are close together and there is no shade. Most but not all have full hook-ups. Some sites are 30 amp, some are 20/50. Up the hill further back there are bigger sites with many shade trees. These sites cost a bit more but if I were going to stay for a longer than a week, I'd hope to get one of those sites. They have daily and monthly rates. No showers or laundry that I could see. It is easy to get to route 400. If you travel the alternate roads be aware that there is a great deal of development going on around the area, construction may make passage tricky.

This is a nice place to stay if you are going into the north metro area of Atlanta. It is also convenient to the North GA Mountains.

If you bring your dogs, there are poo bags and waste canisters conveniently placed all over the park. We camped at Twin Lakes RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

This park is very convenient to North Atlanta and surrounding cities. Most sites have sewer/electric/water, some just electric and water. They offer a dump station on the property. No cable offered but my antenna worked great. I choose an area away from the trees but there are shaded spots available.
This park is quiet and is surrounded by trees/forrest and has two lakes on the property, hence, Twin Lakes. The office manager was very helpful and accommodating with directions.
I noticed that the electricity does fluctuate going down to 110 on each leg at times. Granted, it is very hot right now so I'm sure there is a heavy load on the grid. I was only able to use 2 of our air units which was adequate but I had to watch for other electric usage as I didn't want to go into a brown out situation.

Be careful pulling in or out on the main road as it's right at a blind curve.

Once you are settled in at Twin Lakes, it's very peaceful. We camped at Twin Lakes RV Park in a Motorhome.

Our site was on the end of the parking lot behind the office and dumpsters. Nothing to commend it other than that it was in shade until 1:00pm each day due to the big hill next to it.

Due to the heat and the full campground, the hookup voltage at the site was so low that the safety system in my RV kept killing the power. The owner came out and replaced the site's breaker, which helped a bit. We camped at Twin Lakes RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is not a destination campground as there are no amenities (no cable or bathroom facilities) but it is convenient to northern Atlanta and northern Georgia. There are quite a few permanent residents, not a problem, some sites on the lake without sewer. Our site was part of the parking area, we were able to use our satellite since our site didn't have any trees, it was a level, gravel site. There is a whole page of 40 rules! We camped at Twin Lakes RV Park in a Motorhome.
