I agree with the other camper who said not to bother. We have camped at several military campgrounds and have always had a good experience. This is an exception to those other campgrounds. First we called the office number numerous times on different days and got a recording, left messages for call back and nothing. 3 hours before we arrived we called the office# and finally a woman answered and said there were 5 open sites. We arrived to find one site taped off with yellow caution tape, another site with a van parked off to the side in the woods but no vehicle on the pad. We pulled out and parked in parking area in front of the office hut and husband called base security to ask if it was OK to dry camp for the night. He was told to go to a building and check in which he did but guy in office had no idea why he was told that! Husband came back and drove back into campground to look at the site where van was parked and another camper told him the owner takes his rig out and is gone for days meaning site is not paid for but discourages someone from using it. We paid and used the site for the night. The remaining sites were occupied by long term people but not all workers. 1 retiree had been there since October so 2 week rule not in-forced. Another site had a 35' motorhome, 30' tow trailer, the truck to haul the trailer and 3 cars. Another site had a portable garage frame with tarp setup in front of the trailer. I would dry camp in a Walmart parking lot before returning here. We camped at Lakeside FamCamp (Military Camping Only) in a Motorhome.Undo

Nice park with several sites available but the bathrooms, specifically the men's was atrocious. One toilet was severely messed up and wasn't cleaned for two days! The women's was fine and I had no problem. A few sites were 50' long and nicely separated from your neighbor. Quiet and nice park. There is a little bar that is busy during the week. Our neighbor, Jeff, who is responsible in some fashion there, was extremely helpful when we were concerned about getting to the dump station in the morning - someone was parked there and he made sure they moved. The biggest issue we had was on our departure GATE 2 (which is the only RV accessible gate) is closed on the weekends, which we did not know!! Luckily for us the security spotted us heading for the exit and flagged us down to wait while he brought someone up to open up the gate for us. So it all worked out fine, but if you're planning on arriving or leaving on the weekend you should call first to find out the proper procedure. We camped here in a motorhome. Civilians and Reserve military personnel working on the base and long term (years) permanent residents prevent transient overnight or short term stops. Before taking the time to stop, call the MWR number and ask if there are sites available. Chances are slim to none an open site will be available. The CG does not take reservations. We wasted a lot of time coming off the interstate to the CG only to find civilians working on the base were occupying nearly all sites and that no sites were available. We stayed here 3 nights. Our purpose for being in the area was to attend an Atlanta Braves home game and the travel time was into Atlanta was fine. This camping area was very shady and very peaceful. We were made aware that poison ivy was a problem they are working on and therefore we knew to be watchful. The bathrooms and showers were clean and the washers/dryers were the most reasonable I have seen anywhere. I was able to get 4G service for computer and good cell phone service with Verizon. We were very close to the exchange and a club. Would definitely return for another short stay. Would not consider long term only due to no sewer sites. Does not take reservations. Few or no open sites available for transient camper's. Most if not all sites occupied by long term active duty personnel stationed at Dobbins ARB. CG not accessable from off baase on weekends or after 5p Mon thru Fri, and then only accessable through Gate 2 located off Atlanta, Road.
