The view is gorgeous! We stayed here one night but we thought it was beautiful and did not have a problem leveling out. There are a lot of full timers here but that didn't bother us. Staff were friendly. We camped at Lake Oconee / Greensboro KOA in a Motorhome.

The only sites that seem to be rented out at this park are the pull throughs. The nicer sites seem to belong only to TRA members. Although I had read reviews here that said it was impossible to level in these sites, I booked anyway (dumb). Turns out it is impossible to get level in these too close together sites. And the drive way around the sites has giant washouts that threaten your axle. The staff was the only exceptional thing about this awful experience. Everyone who worked with us was very nice. Obviously the staff knows about the situation. The brought boards to try and get us level. When we said we had to leave, they graciously refunded our money. These staff members deserve a better place to work. We camped at Lake Oconee / Greensboro KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The town of Greensboro is very close and is a great place to visit. Be sure to go to Yesterday's Cafe and get the pie. Wonderful. For camping, move down the road to Parks Ferry.

We were invited to stay through Travel Resorts of America, so it did not cost us anything. We stayed at site 264 and found the site not level and much too close to other sites. Getting into the site was tight for our 35 footer. I watched a few others bigger than ours and they seemed to have a few problems getting in. It seems like they only want to fill the sites and they really don't care about how close you are to others so your privacy is not that good. There was no fire pit at most of the sites, the miniature golf course is really terrible. There is only one location to get rid of your garbage. This is one place that we would not recommend to anybody and we will not ever go back there again We camped at Lake Oconee / Greensboro KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a Travel Resorts of America member park now converting from a KOA. We stayed under Coast to Coast even though we are TRA members so it didn't cost us. The C2C sites were rather narrow and not level. There are some nice lakeside sites but you have to be a TRA member and it has to be a home park to get the nice sites. We camped at Lake Oconee / Greensboro KOA in a Travel Trailer.

We came to this park via a free offer from Travel Resorts of America. We stayed at site 43. Pull-thru and full hookup. A little tight but manageable. Nice deck area looking out to lake. Deck needs a little care but still ok. Very clean and peaceful. TRA just aquired the property not too long ago. It was previously a KOA. They are working on continued repairs and enhancements. Took a tour and was impressed with benefits and price to become a member. If you would like to check out park first if you take the tour you can get 4 days 3 nights free. Only other thing is no cable and very limited tv channels from antenna. Other than that it is a nice place. Good fishing and boat ramp and docks. 2 pools and daily activities available for all ages. Once they get everything done this will be a great resort. Pet friendly too. We camped at Lake Oconee / Greensboro KOA in a Motorhome.

As we arrived after 6, we were helped to our site by the host. We found this helpful as the roads are rough and turns are very tight. We were placed on back in site #17, which is on a downhill slope. This would not normally bother us, except the drain was behind the slab, uphill. Needless to say, you cannot get drainage flow from the RV in that direction. We called the host, who, at first was not sure if he could relocate us (even though there were more open spots than reservation envelopes left). He did manage to find us a level site, except this site was such close quarters on the slab with the power box and permanent deck that we could not fully open the slide and stepping out of the door was more like rock climbing due to the drop between the skinny slab and built on deck. Not to mention the bumper scraping on the first site and the back 9 feet literally hanging over the hill on the second site. The park and view of the lake are beautiful, but the sites that we were given are counter productive to Being in an RV. We have been at several grounds much cheaper with sites that actually keep the type of RV you are traveling with in mind when setting up sites. If camping here, be ready for challenges. The host was wonderful, but unfortunately the young lady at the front desk was unfazed by the hassle of setting up at one site, only to have to change sites an hour later and being left with a level but otherwise unsafe alternative. We did request a handicapped accessible site, 17 did have better access to the deck and a ramp at the end, but the second site was more of a death trap for my husband who uses a wheelchair and walker. We camped at Lake Oconee / Greensboro KOA in a Motorhome.

Went to a membership promotion to this camp site. This is the old KOA campground on lake oconee. When we arrived I immediately noticed this campground was run down. Not a lot of care given in last several years. This is a small campground with 25 percent permanent campers that looked a little rough. Several of them were for sale. Only 11 lakeside sites so don't even think you'll be on the water. Most sites were not level. The rail cars were at one time nice but not been maintained. They looked out of place in the mix of permanent campers and the rental trailers (they called cabins). I would be scared to launch a boat at the boat dock. No place to park your boat trailer in the area. I don't know how they worked that out. What they called the beach looked like they had dumped several loads of sand by the lake several years ago. But this sales guy that was trying to sell me a membership ( 15,000 dollars) seemed really inspired by this place. All during his sales pitch he kept repeating "I can't promise you anything ". I had no intention of buying into their resort going over there and after viewing the site I couldn't wait for sales pitch to be over. They'll try to hang you with one of several different package deals. I don't understand why they call it a resort. We camped at Lake Oconee / Greensboro KOA in a Tent Trailer.

We went in for a "presentation " that was VERY VAGUE, when we asked what type, ie., time share, co-op purchase, etc.

Upon arrival, we were lead through the entire campground to a site that did NOT have the requested 50 amp service. Taken to another area that was SUPPOSED to fit our 42' 5th wheel. 1st site was already occupied, next site was too narrow AND had low hanging tree limbs. Finally settled on the last site in the park that could accommodate our rig. It was filthy, littered with trash including a pair of used latex gloves. The entire staff, except for one of the sales staff, was rude and snarky, not interested in customer service.

We were put in an area that was relatively unoccupied. However, 2 of the 3 nights, other campers were brought to the site right next to us...so close that we couldn't even extend our awnings. One of those campers even commented to me as to why they were put next to us...they took up part of our "yard" space, and there were plenty of other available options.

This campground was HORRENDOUS.

AS for the "presentation," the "salesman" was EXTREMELY OFFENSIVE! Within the first 20 minutes, he told us 3 times that if we weren't interested, then we were wasting his time, and we wouldn't be welcomed back. He also referred to women's temperament "during their time of month." And finally, he spoke badly of law enforcement and gave us his political views on the presidential candidates. Having spent over 35 years in Customer Service and Sales...I was APPALLED! Not to mention, my husband is retired Law Enforcement.

Needless to say, we did NOT PURCHASE their "membership" and we would camp in a LANDFILL before EVER CONSIDERING THIS DUMP AGAIN! We camped at Lake Oconee / Greensboro KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

As of July 2016, this facility was a KOA (again?). This "resort" is not at a resort standard. The camground requires that you unhitch your tow vehicle prior to entry because of the narrow roads. The site they put us in would not accommodate our 30 ft coach. It was too steep of an entry to the site and our back bumper dug into the dirt. After much debate, they moved us to a site across the way from the original site. After dragging our bumper along the cement for about 5 feet due to a steep entry, an employee commented about how lucky we were to get the shadiest site. We did not appreciate that since it was so difficult to enter the site. It was over 100 degrees when we checked in about 6 pm this day.

The restroom facility we found had exposed electrical wires, and no mirrors. We were unable to find the shower facilities. The entry gate requires a code to enter. The employee who was guiding us to the site opened it for us, but we were never given the code. It wasn't an issue for us since we arrived about 6 pm and knew we were leaving early the next morning. If we had known Lake Oconee Village was so close, we might have had dinner out while the RV cooled off. Entry into park is deceptive of park quality. Road into park from I-20 is very narrow.

Another review mentions a view of the lake. From our site, we could not see or hear the lake. If we hadn't taken a walk later that evening, we wouldn't have know the lake existed. The sites were not easy to use the hookups, based on their locations and how you had to park at each site. We rated site as bad because of the entry issues and hookup issues. We camped at Lake Oconee / Greensboro KOA in a Motorhome.

Lake Oconee Village isn't too far away on an easy to drive road. We recommend entering park (if you dare) using 44 to Carey Station Road. It's longer, but safer driving conditions in an RV.

The park is large and has lots of nice features. It is "rustic" and in need of repair. The decks at each site are wonderful, but are falling apart. Need paint and replacing rotting boards. The rest of the park is in the same shape. The sites are all tiered on hillsides, makes them all have a unique view of the lake, lovely. We can hear the waves lapping at the shore from our site, nice. Many trees, so no satellite dish can operate in our site unless we put out the portable one. No cable, and we could not receive any over the air channels. No biggie, kind of nice. Both pools are closed for repairs, so you might ask when they are going to be functional. Our site is not what you call spacious as far as the pad, but it is not near to any other sites. The hookups were not easy because they end up being under the slide out. Tips for other Campers:

We stayed in camp for both days. The camp offers a boat ramp and there is dock fishing as an option.

The route in was odd. Our navigation had us take Stagecoach Road. It appeared to be the only way here from the 1-20. It was like a stagecoach road....beware. And there was a sign that says it floods. We are looking for another way out to the I-20.

Newly converted to KOA - and still working at coming up to what you find at most other KOAs (at least in our experience). Our experience was very poor due to the to physical facilities related to site levelness and at least one very good opportunity for a "high center" danger.

Upon our arrival we were checked in by a courteous staff member. We were assigned to our spot and off we went. The only KOAs that we've stayed that we were not guided to our spot.

This is where the issues started. The "pull through" we were assigned to was a dirt spot - not gravel, not concrete but dirt. "Pull through" is a misnomer here - the sites are very short with severe angles and corners to cut around. With our gasser Class A our levelers couldn't level out. We changed sites 3 more times before I found a washed out site that I could level on BUT when you opened the door the bottom step was about 18" off the ground. The electrical box was leaning severely towards the water faucet and the lid was difficult to open.

After complaining I was reassigned to another spot. A back-in . I did a recon of the site and figured I could back in. I did only to find out there was 30 amp service only. (Note: I was very specific in needing a 50 amp service.) So I was again reassigned to a spot just above where I was sitting. As I looked the spot over I noticed what I believe to be a very serious problem - the real possibility of "HIGH CENTER". If you don't know what a high center danger is - I advise you to learn. In my 22 year US Army career I have seen this problem - it So I did a K turn with my 38' sports car and avoided the possible danger. Then went to a new spot. We made it work - but it wasn't easy.

In the end - this has real possibilities BUT for now avoid this place. It is about 10 miles off the I-20.

While the staff is pleasant - there are SERIOUS problems with the facility. This place has real potential but can be a real danger.

AVOID. We camped at Lake Oconee / Greensboro KOA in a Motorhome.

This is now a KOA campground and price reflects KOA discount for holiday weekend stay. Hopefully, they will be making some improvements to this park. There is no cable TV, the Wi-Fi is spotty and you have to obtain they password from the office (one password per device), and our site was pretty unlevel. The lake sites were definitely not built for big rigs and very difficult to maneuver with our 41' fifth wheel. Very crowded, which was to be expected on a holiday weekend; however, there did not appear to be any site limitations as far as vehicles and people go. Some sites would have four to five cars on them. The pools appeared to be clean but we did not use them. We camped at Lake Oconee / Greensboro KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We booked our stay for North Shore during the month of February 2015 for our stay in April 2015. Upon making reservations we were quoted $32 per night for a lake front site- no deposit required. The week prior to making our trip we called to double check reservations and were told they didn't offer sites for the amount we were quoted and a lakefront would be $70 per night or could take a regular site for $40. We decided to take a $40 site. Upon arrival, the park was in deplorable conditions. Pictures online are NOT true to what current conditions are. Sites were un-level, not shaded, no fire rings, no grills, and the picnic tables were all rotted. The pools looked to not have had water in them in several years, the play set was leaning and unable to play on, the mini golf hadn't been tended to in several years. The bathhouses smelled of urine with moldy curtains. Definitely NOT worth $40 or $70 per night. The sites were stacked one on top of another- just not how we like to camp. Needless to say, we wound up getting a refund and heading to another campground for our weekend. We've camped at many other resorts- this was definitely not worthy of that type of title. Wouldn't recommend this park to anyone expecting a resort, especially if you have children. There are several other parks in the area for half the price of this that are much nicer condition. We camped at Lake Oconee / Greensboro KOA in a Travel Trailer.

We were very disappointed with this campground. We arrived at 4 p.m. on a Sunday and the office was closed and the security shack was not manned. If another camper had not come by and told us to look in the mailbox for our packet, we would not have gotten past the gate. We were Coast-to-Coast guests and the site we were given was small and very unlevel in an area with several other rigs almost shoulder-to-shoulder while there were many vacant sites closer to the lake. The entire park had a run-down appearance. We will not be returning to this park. We camped at Lake Oconee / Greensboro KOA in a Motorhome.
