State Campground - very peaceful. Sites are all gravel but level. All roads are paved and well maintained. This is in the forest so all sites are very shady. A small stream runs nearby offering a very nice water running sound to lull you to sleep at night. Fire Rings are provided, restrooms clean and well maintained. Late arrivals check in at the Lodge. Super nice people working there. Elec (50 amp) and water only, no sewer but nearby dump station is available. We camped at Unicoi State Park and Lodge in a Travel Trailer.

Unicoi State Park is just outside of Helen, with quite a few hiking trails and ziplines, did some hiking and noticed some of the park is in need of minor repairs. Good sites a little close to neighbors. We camped at Unicoi State Park and Lodge in a Motorhome.

Campground was clean and quiet. The front desk was helpful with directions. If you have to check in late , you have to check in at the lodge which is just past the entry to the campground coming from Helen Ga. We plan to stay there again if we are in the area. We really enjoyed staying here. The park is lovely, and conveniently located. We were in a full hook-up site, and they are probably hard to come by in high season. The first night we thought our heat pump was not working, so we used our gas heat. The next morning we realized that our 30 amp at the post was not working. The 50 amp was working, and we had a converter with us so no problem. I called the lodge to let them know, and in a few minutes someone came by to fix it. A very nice person, and full of information about the area. We found everyone we came in contact with in this whole area extremely nice and helpful. Also, everyone knows one another in Helen. We camped at Unicoi State Park and Lodge in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Do by all means go to Anna Ruby Falls. It's a beautiful walk through the woods. If you are a senior, with a national park pass, you will not have to pay to go in. I don't know what they charge. Also, a wonderful restaurant to go for lunch or dinner is Bernie's in Nacoochee. Wonderful food and service, can't say enough (make a reservation). We were only here one full day, and we could have used a little more time.

Site was level with pea gravel. Water pressure 80psi. 50,30 &20 amp svc. Sites color coded according to type, sewer & length. Must check in at camp store down in campground not at lodge. Very nice playground and camp store with grocery, interpretive center tv and game room. Many trails to walk, but must pay at Anna Ruby falls due to it being a federal park. Helen a short drive away. Lodge has a restaurant, sitting areas and gift shop. They offer zip line rides but pricey. Trash svc and restroom cleaning done daily. At camp store they have large fire pit with chairs and you can use their firewood for it free. Lake close by many put in their canoe or kayak. We camped at Unicoi State Park and Lodge in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed here over a weekend and really enjoyed it. Check in was easy although not great "quick" parking to unhook the toad while checking in. Sites and streets were a little tight but doable. Overall we had a great experience. The visitor center closes at 6, we were 5 minutes late to it. Looks like they have some cool zip line things but not sure they were open. Campground had good power, water and sewer. Overall a great value and a great location we will be back. Lots to do in the area as well. The folks working the campground really seemed to care, and checked in to make sure everything was good! We camped at Unicoi State Park and Lodge in a Motorhome.

As usual this state park is a delight to visit. Our arear included sewer hook-up which made our packing up really easy. Hosts were most friendly and helpful. We were treated to free "summer" concert on Saturday night at the amphitheater under a full moon. Great musicians and tunes. If you are planning a trip to Helen area this is a must if you can get a reservation. We camped at Unicoi State Park and Lodge in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed at Unicoi for the 1st time this weekend to camp in our new travel trailer. With Georgia State parks, you go to the website or call & you reserve your type of spot (full hook up, water/electric, tent only, etc). Once you get your reservation you go to the park to check in and then it's 1st come 1st serve for the type of spot you booked. We booked full hook up. Upon pulling into the park, campers must register at the lodge. Check-in was simple and they give you your card and parking pass ($5 in addition to the reservation). Unicoi has 11 full hook up locations. We chose lot 22. If we had our choice we would pick from the last 4 right past the restrooms as they seemed to be the best location. 22 was very flat & easy to back into. The lots are surrounded by tons of trees. You're fairly close to your neighbor but we felt it was still very private. We liked the level lots, trees, bathrooms/showers were very clean. The fire pits had a very convenience grate over them you could cook on which we loved. Water pressure was great. Electric (30 amp) was also great. At our site a 22ft sewer or fresh water hose will be totally fine for you. This was a quick weekend trip but we would love to come back. We camped at Unicoi State Park and Lodge in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful location in the north Georgia mountains. We stayed in the full hookup area. We were able to get a great site but some are a little tight and they are first come, first served. Due to the number of trees, no OTA channels but there is a Redbox in town. Visitor center in the campground was convenient and the lodge across the street from the camping area was nice. Loved the area and the weather but didn't love the town of Helen - too touristy and crowded on the weekends. Explore the surrounding small towns - stay away from Helen.

We stayed in the full hookup, blue section. The sites are close together but there is still room where you are not on top of each other. The site was level, shaded, and clean. Though the welcome center was close by, we only saw it open once. Maybe this was due to being the "off season." This park has great trails but expect to climb stairs and hills. We got great T-Mobile cell coverage but no TV stations. We camped at Unicoi State Park and Lodge in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There are great wineries & vineyards in the area but most are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Online information can be incorrect so be sure to visit their websites for correct hours and days open. Some have amazing views and others have amazing architecture. Don't just go to the closest one. You can spend a few days just doing this!

Once again, GA State Parks do not disappoint. We decided to head to Helen for the Christmas Festival and we enjoyed beautiful weekend with the family in the mountains of North GA.

We arrived Friday evening, easy check-in we reserved a "full hook-up"
site but our sewer line was too short.

After spending a few hours in Helen on Saturday, we had lunch at the Tavern/Sports Bar at Unicoi the club sandwich was fantastic.

Fall/Winter camping is great but this location would be excellent in summer also. We had a stream running behind our site. We camped at Unicoi State Park and Lodge in a Travel Trailer.

We arrived on Memorial Day Weekend, the campground was full. There were mostly tents and very few rvs. The campsites are nice size and level. We had a buddy campsite in Laurel Ridge (#34) big enough for an RV and a tent. There was no bath house on our level and area. We had to descend about 2 stories of steps to get to the nearest bath house and wait to shower because there were only 2 shower stalls for lots of campers. The bath house was usually very messy. Saw a bear trying to get into the garbage cans by our campsite. After Memorial Day the campground cleared out quickly. The trails that we went on were beautiful and well kept. The scenery is very nice. We fished out of kayacks and the kids even caught some small brim. There is a small stream that runs close to the playground and the kids loved playing in the cool water. The beach and swimming area leaves something to be desired. We ate dinner at the lodge restaurant and the buffet was overpriced ($18) and not very good, the whole catfish was not fully cooked. There was no wifi signal that we could find. We camped here for 5 nights. We would camp here again. We camped at Unicoi State Park and Lodge in a Travel Trailer.

Upon arrival, the desk clerks told us they just had selected our site, and had the paperwork handy. Checking in didn't take more than 3 minutes. We asked for the stickers for the Georgia RV Program (not all parks have them, so we make it a point in asking for them) and the clerk handed us 3. We only stayed 2 nights, so that great! The site was very nice, the rig backed into the top site, one step down we had a similar size site for recreation, with a fire ring and a picnic table. The visitor center is a short walk down the hill. Staff at the center was very friendly and helpful. The beach is a comfortable walk along a trail. Mind you, the water is cold! There is also a very nice foot trail to the lodge. Personnel at the lodge were setting up for a banquet and had closed the gift shop early, but when we notified someone we were unhappy about that, they opened up the shop for us, with the entrance through the tavern. They were also showing a (free) movie on Friday night, but we didn't want to walk back along the trail in the dark, so we didn't stay for that. The trail turned out to be well lighted, we were pleased with that. They seemed to have a lot of activities at the lodge. We were very happy with our stay and will certainly stay again. We camped at Unicoi State Park and Lodge in a Motorhome.

We visited the park for a short one night stay. We made our reservations online and upon arrival we discovered that an additional five dollar vehicle parking fee had to be paid. This was not a surprise we appreciated. Our in advance reservations reserved a site, but the sites are given out on a first come first choose basis. In other words we were guaranteed a site, but we were given a map at registration and told to drive through the campground until we found an empty site marked with a "white" reflector. We could then take any of the sites so marked. The bathrooms were fairly clean, but well worn. They were close to our campsite and seemed to be fairly well located to the loop where we were staying. We did not visit the park amenities as we were passing through. Helen GA, is located a short drive from the park. It was already decorated for Christmas and looked like a great place to spend the day. We camped at Unicoi State Park and Lodge in a Tent Trailer.
