Overall Rating:

Small campground in the mountains off the beaten path. A lot of negatives when I had hoped for a lot of positives based on previous reviews. I missed the turn off the main road because you can't see the sign. The road to the CG is a very narrow country road where you pray that no one is coming in the opposite direction. This was the hardest site I have encountered in 3 years to disconnect and level due to erosion of the site. Disconnecting stabilizer bars and the hitch while the truck was leaning down the hill was impossible. The site was wide and level but not long enough due to ruts. I had to pull the trailer to a level spot when leaving to attach the bars. No OTH TV channels. Satellite reception blocked by trees. Tranquility expected by camping in the woods was broken by the fan running on high in a fifth wheel that was not occupied. Most sites are very close together. Staff was friendly. We camped at Long Ridge Campground in a Travel Trailer.

My husband and I spent November 2016 to March 2017 at Long Ridge for the first time. We can't say enough good things about the location and the owners James and Donna! They made us feel so at home, and if we needed anything, they were very accommodating and kind! It was like leaving family when we pulled out. The location is nestled in the mountains with beautiful hills around it, and the sites are level and gravel covered. We had some very heavy rains a few times but there was no mud or anything to deal with which was very nice. Just lots of nature and quietness to enjoy! The shops in Hiawassee were also very nice as well as neighboring towns of Blairsville, and Helen, which is a jewel in itself. If you come here, you will be enchanted with everything! Just can't say enough good about it! Will definitely return! We camped at Long Ridge Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Awesome campground. Nestled in a bowl surrounded by mountains. You don't see the mountains till the leaves start to fall. Its quiet and our type of camping. A nice sized back in lot (we are 40 ft) . A fishing catch and release pond. The fall leaves are beautiful and we have enjoyed the view. We definitely would return. Rt 288 is a good 2 lane road. When you turn onto Burch Rd its one lane and also when you turn onto Jarrard Rd. Uneven road entering the campground. Just go slow. We didn't have a problem. We camped at Long Ridge Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Make sure to visit Bell mountain for a 360 degree view of the area. Head into Hiawassee and look for Shake Rag Road. Head north on that road and follow signs. Its a paved one lane with pull outs. Awesome view.

We loved this place in GA mountains. Superb customer service, owners were very helpful, gave us local stuff to do based on our interests. Helped us into our site. Just know that park accepts big rigs does not mean big rig friendly. They have a couple big rig sites, but super tight. Also, sites are very close, 8-10 ft between. Again loved the customer service, just not a good spot for larger RVS. Location amazing! We camped at Long Ridge Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

DonnaD131, owner at Long Ridge Campground responded to this review

Thank you for the kind words. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay in the North GA Mountains - it is truly such an "enchanted" area, with so much to do.
We are sorry you felt your spot was difficult for big rigs to manage.
We have had 45' 5th wheels on your specific site and though some of the sites are narrower than others - site 7, the specific site you were on is a pie shape site and is over 20' wide. The tongue (or the area the tow vehicle sits on is approx 8' from the next campsite's "tongue") - but the site itself is wider.
Owning a 38' fifth wheel ourselves, we know first hand how difficult sites can be to get in to! We do have plans for the future to expand the campground and install a few larger pull through sites. Hopefully, these will be ready to go for next season.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience with us at Long Ridge Campground.

My wife and I were traveling around North Georgia mountains trying out our Passport America membership and found this secluded park that we will certainly return to. Just follow the Google map from your smart phone to get here.

Not far outside Hiawassee, it offers a quiet place nestled in the ridge of surrounding mountains and plenty of shady sites to choose from. The owners were very nice and helpful. We gladly give them our best review. We camped at Long Ridge Campground in a Motorhome.

(* We paid for 12 months as we are now permanently living here in our fifth-wheel). Long Ridge Campground is relatively small when compared to several other campgrounds nearby, but no one can beat the exceptional customer service the owners provide! The sites are covered with gravel, & clean. There are a dozen or so tent sites, 30 amp sites for smaller RVs & sites large enough to handle any big rig easily. These latter sites are full-service: WiFi, 50 amp, water & sewer included. The campground is secluded with a small catch & release pond & a stream that provides a soothing sound throughout the day & night. The office sells ice & a small amount of other "must have" RV items. There is a seasonal (closed Nov-Mar) RV service & parts store a few miles away. They do on-site service as well. I strongly recommend you call ahead for a reservation as the campground fills up very quickly, especially during the spring, summer & early fall when there are numerous festivals in the area. Come one, come all to Long Ridge Campground! We camped at Long Ridge Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

When you finally find this 'hidden' gem, you'll be glad you did. The route into the campground is a little tight and unnerving in your rv if you're never been to it, especially the tight rural road that's partly a single lane, but, it's worth it.

There are several backin 'rv park' style gravel sites up front, and many 'campground' style backin sites under the trees, near the woods, and around the pond. All seem to be well designed and roomy.

Plan to stay here a while, it's away from traffic, near nature, with a pond and large stream near everyone. We camped at Long Ridge Campground in a Motorhome.

First time out for real. So very new campers here. The turn in needs better signage. Almost missed it.

The check in was very smooth, the owner was not in but she contacted a long-termer who came and helped us back into a site.

Site 15 was fairly level, and luckily easy to get into. Other back-in sites required more leveling and as newbie campers would have been hard to navigate into. No cable, but not an issue as Aggies had an off week. :-)

The campground was very well maintained, and pretty quiet. The main thing that would have led to a higher rating for us would have been more than one toilet stall in the main bathhouse.

It was a very nice location for us as we visited Helen, Brasstown Bald and Blue Ridge.

We would camp here again. We camped at Long Ridge Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Small park. Owners are very friendly and helpful, best we have ever experienced. First name basis from check in. We had full hookups but no cable or tv reception. Owners are on site. They are waiting on cable to be installed soon. Sites are well laid out. Big rig sites are terraced and kind of close.
Park has tent sites and small rig sites grouped in separate areas.

We would come back again. We camped at Long Ridge Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We have stayed in and seen many RV parks in the past year (ever since we started full-timing) and the Long Ridge Campground is one of the nicest parks. Their lots are spacious, with picnic tables and fire pits. Views are great from almost any spot. Being small, the park provides much needed peace and tranquility ( if that's what you're looking for). Yet, it's really close to everything you ever want to do in this area. Literally, 4 miles to the public beach, Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds and downtown Hiawassee, 1.5 miles to a public lake access and boat ramp. Famous tourist destination - Helen - is about 20 miles away.

There is a free WiFi available.

The campground is tucked in, so don't worry if your GPS takes you in what looks like a residential area, just follow the road to the big campground sign.

Note: I posted the daily ongoing rate, but we actually are staying here long term (over 3 month) so it comes out to something like $10 a day - can't beat that!

Highly recommended! We camped at Long Ridge Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Lots of things to do around here, provided you are an outdoorsy type: trout fishing, kayaking, boating, photography, hiking, waterfalls viewing, etc

There are 2 farmers market in this area: small one is on Saturdays 9-12 is located right across the entrance to Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds, at the beach/playground parking lot. The bigger one is in Blairsville, turn right before Home Depot and then right again at the first road. This one is held twice a week, Sat (morning) and Tue (evening).

I found this campground because of Passport America. Like someone else mentions here, "don't worry if you think you're in a residential neighborhood " when driving here. It does ver off in a secluded canyon. A beautiful campground with excellent utilities and free wifi. I only stayed here two nights, but I wish I could have stayed a week or longer. The host and owner of the campground was very nice. Campsites were a little difficult to pull into and I did have to level my rig. We camped at Long Ridge Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a campground in progress. The owners are relatively new and are working hard to make this an excellent stay. The site was fairly level and partly shaded. The Passport America discount made this an exceptional value. Getting into the campground was a bit tricky being at the end of a narrow (but paved) road. Almost thought we were lost. No cable and we couldn't get satellite due to the surrounding hills. The area itself is quite scenic. Would return if the opportunity arose. We camped at Long Ridge Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit Haysville, just across the NC/Georgia state line. See Helen, GA a Bavarian style town on the other side of the mountain. Touristy and a bit of a trap but fun nonetheless.

We loved this campground and have stayed here several times. We've even brought friends back to enjoy the same experience. I want to highlight how friendly and helpful the staff and owners are. They are fantastic. In fact, they helped me jump my car off when I accidentally ran the battery down. I would highly recommend this campground and especially the owners. They truly know how to make you feel special and like they want your business and appreciate your business. This is unlike another RV campground that was close by, that yelled at us and asked me to leave. Long Ridge is truly a diamond in the rough. Enjoy your time there. Absolutely beautiful gem of a park in the North Georgia Mountains! The new owners are gracious hosts and make you feel at home. The catch and release fishing pond was a hit with our kids. Saturday night we were entertained with live music on the lawn. I would give them a higher score than 10 if I could. My son said this is the best campground we have ever been to! What a great place to stay! My water pipes broke and they helped me all the way to fix it (they spent quiet some time doing it). Park is under new ownership and very very friendly. Close to Hiawassee and all the local attractions here. Yet very quiet and relaxing. Verizon phone had great reception. High-speed fiber optic Wi-Fi throughout the park. Cannot recommend them more highly. We camped at Long Ridge Campground in a Motorhome.
