The campers are pretty well packed in and some appear to be long timers that should attempt to pick up. Our site was a back end and we have a nice size lot although the ones in the front of park we're almost on top of each other. The camp store had a decent amount of supplies and of course souvenirs. The staff was helpful and friendly but getting into the campground at check in was slow. Campers were lined up to the highway. Since the temperature stayed in the low 90's it was definitely nice to have the large oak trees. We didn't bother with the satellite but between the camps cable and my YouTube TV it was suffice! The WiFi is ok and cell phone reception we as good (Verizon). I would like to come back in the fall/winter to play golf and do the bike trails. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Motorhome.

The good-this is on Jekyll Island and is the only RV park there, so can't beat the location. WiFi is adequate to good. Site wasn't cramped and access was easy. Beautiful canopy of trees over the park. Quiet. The bad-roads were slightly rutted and muddy. Sites don't really have any surface other than dirt. Not level, but easy to level. Showers inexcusable. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Mixed reviews, some campers look like they live there and need to clean up their site. Lots of returning snowbirds, we were lucky to get one night. If your looking for longer than one night the park has a lot of activities going on. We had to disconnect in order to get our trailer level but not a big deal. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Nice park on one of Georgia's "Golden Isles". We came down for "Merry Shrimpmas" Jekyll Island usually has a Shrimp and Grits Festival in September, but Hurricane Irma had other plans. The Jekyll Island Authority decide to do a mash-up with the annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony and we said, " we like grits, we love shrimp... so, Merry Shrimpmas." The park is very convenient on a very small island. The interior roads are a little tight but thankfully with the "5 MPH" Speed Limit you can navigate effectively. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is a nice campground. Our only problem was getting into our spot. It was tight and we had to go the wrong way on the road to get in. Once we did, the spot was good. The campground has a nice little store. Some groceries. Beaches on the island are very clean and nice. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Skip going to Tortuga Jacks. The food was not good and pricey. There is a fee to get onto the island, $6.00 each time so figure out if you think you will be going on and off the island as there is a longer pass. We bought the $6 pass but went off the island a second time.

Overall Rating:

We stayed at this park for five nights. This is a campground, not an RV park with amenities. It is a flat, heavily wooded area where trees have been removed to make interior roads and RV sites. Utilities were put in, a couple of bathhouses were built and that's about it. Not many plants except the trees and not much privacy. All sites are back-in and campground hosts will help you park. The entire park is dirt that is covered with a thin layer of leaves and pine needles. The trees are pretty and there is lots of shade which was nice because it was hot when we were there. Hookups and cable TV were fine. The park is a little dirty and buggy. It is still worth a stay. It is the only venue on Jekyll Island, which is a wonderful destination. A number of great beaches with good parking, extensive biking and walking trails that cover the whole island and tours of the beautiful and interesting historical district. Development has been controlled and this Island is much more peaceful than its neighbors. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed from Christmas thru New years as we have been doing for a few years now. We love this park and the people that run it. It is a great park for relaxing and bike riding and sight seeing. Some people give it bad reviews because of leaves and dirt. I don't know what else they expect to find in south Ga. but this is not your high end resort type of place. Its nice, quite and relaxing. I guess to sum it up. The island has a lot to entertain you and a lot near by as well. If your looking for a camping experience there is none better. If you want a 5 star yuppie resort go else where or stay at the big hotel. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We had to make reservation way in advance to obtain two sites together as we planned to camp with our Daughter's family. We stayed the weekend of Sept 23, 2016. We had 2 pull through sites near the front next to each other. We camped in a 35' Class A and our daughter's family in a Popup. The girls at the front desk are nice & friendly. Our first impression was that the sites were very close together and the roads are narrow. I honestly don't think they could have squeezed in anything else in this campground. The sites are sandy with lots of leaf debris. Very dirty, we had to wash our feet constantly. Whole campground looks cluttered & messy. The whole campground is shaded due to abundant trees throughout. The mosquitos were horrendous. If you ventured out without strong repellant on expect to be covered in mosquitos within minutes. We travel with 2 greyhounds and the natural repellant we had for them did not work. We have no idea why the campground did not spray for Mosquitos with the Zika virus scare going on. Because of the mosquitos, we had to drive everywhere and were not able to take advantage of the walking/bike paths. The campground hosts do not guide you to your sites and the narrow roads are tricky. No Pool, no dog park/area. Our RV site was $48 and the Popup was $42 plus $10 fee to get on Island. Driftwood beach (can't swim there because of high bacterial levels) was pleasant to walk and scenic with all the large driftwood. We had dinner at the Driftwood Bistro restaurant and were very pleased with it. We visited the Georgia Sea Turtle center & the historic district. If you are a tent camper, their areas appeared much nicer and spaced out. If you drive a big Rig, be careful on Riverview drive, there are some low hanging branched you need to steer around. We won't camp here again. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Motorhome.

Stopped here on our way home from Orlando so the kids could see and hang out at the beach for the evening before our final leg home. They had a 2 night minimum but we went ahead and paid for the two nights because of the location. We were told it was a 1/4 mile walk directly to the beach and thought it would be a relaxing stop. We were wrong. Everything went wrong starting from entering the island. The road was closed with no detour signs or heads-up from the front desk and had to try and turn around a 37' foot camper. After an hour of driving out of our way we finally got to campground to be completely underwhelmed. It was very dirty, cramped, and noisy, with no pool or playground and no direct access to beach. We payed more for the pull-through so we didn't have to disconnect and we ended up having to because we had to drive about 15 minutes to get the the beach. The beach was horrible. I have never seen such dirty murky ocean water anywhere on the east coast. I was so upset with the location, etc. that I went to go see about a refund and found out the store was closed at 6 PM on a Saturday. Needless to say we left disappointed and out $90 ($42 per night plus $6 entrance fee to the island). Oh, also someone stole my husband's brand new $350 phone from the picnic table in front of camper (I was able to track it by gps going down the highway). There is nothing appealing about this island. Don't stay here. You would be better off at a Walmart parking lot. At least you wouldn't get covered in dirt. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We hosted a small TAB rally here around the Easter holiday. Campground was full but quiet. Girls at front desk were friendly and helpful. Ideal location for seeing the island. Best way is by bicycle. Not far from St.Simon's or Cumberland Island. The camp host was very friendly and accommodating. Two nice community rooms for gatherings. One brand new one is large and very nice. Bathrooms are older but they are kept clean. Updates with vents and a/c would be nice. Water pressure varied.

Great little bird sanctuary at the campground, pretty and well maintained. I would stay here again. Seems like a fun place to spend some of the winter months. We will be back someday. The campground manager is helpful and friendly. Pretty trees and Spanish moss through out the campground. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Eat at Driftwood Bstro. Try shrimp and grits. All desserts are delicious! Driftwood Beach very pretty spot. Eat at Southern Soul on St. Simon's. Go for prime rib on Friday. Get the "generous cut" dinner. Delicious! Go early. They run out. Great biking on Jekyll Island!

We stayed at Jekyll Island from December 30 thru January 2, 2016 on our way to Florida. We normally stay in Brunswick, GA but thought we would get the Island experience, what a surprise. Wonderful campground and great people to help. Can not say enough good about it even after I hit a tree branch pulling in. The people in the site across from us gave me a name and he came out News Years day to patch my roof. Walking distance to the beach and fishing pier. Bicycle riding is the transportation of choice on the trail which circles the island. Cannot wait until next year. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Motorhome.

The sites are a little close together for my liking. The site is covered in tree bark chips. All of the hookups worked and the place is well maintained by a legion of campground hosts. The campground hosts were very friendly and helpful. The campground is a good way from the other attractions on Jekyll Island so you will need some type of transportation once you get there. There are lots of very large trees real close to the road. Be very careful. We asked the girl in the office about extending our stay one night. "Nope, that site is rented." No offer of another site or any alternative. Lots of Snowbirds in the campground staying several months. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Bring your bikes. There are bike paths everywhere and everything is flat. You can also rent an electric mini car on the island. I saw several people using them but I didn't inquire as to the cost. There are a lot of ticks. We pulled 5 off of our dog during our 3 day stay.

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small private campground that has a casual family feel to it. There were no permanent residents that I could identify but there were plenty of people who were there for long stays and fixed up their sites to be quite homey. Given the season Christmas decorations were abundant. I liked it but some might not because it was quite cluttered, not clean and neat.

The restrooms were clean but women's restroom near the front where the activity center is had a horrific sewage smell the entire time we were there. We just used the other facility.

The sites and interior roads are dirt, sand, and leaves. It is pretty messy but we were able to keep things clean enough. There is hardly room for parking a second vehicle so we parked on the other side of the road.

Riverview drive has many trees that do not provide 12.5 feet of clearance if you maintain your lane. If it has rained the trees are even lower because of all the spanish moss. Driving back to the park was a challenge and I was grateful that there was very little traffic.

The park is big rig friendly but it is tight as are many parks. I would say Riverview drive is not big rig friendly. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The historic district is a must see.

Drift wood beach (actually dead trees not drift wood) and the trails around it are worth a visit/walk/bike ride.

Jekyll Island has some great bike trails including an excellent trail from the campground to the historic district.

We stayed here about a year ago, and it was great then and even better now. The sites are good sized, with lots of fully mature trees. It can be a little challenging getting around the trees and on to the sites, but well worth it. This has become one of our favorite parks. The staff is friendly and helpful when needed.
