We stayed here for an overnight. We chose our Grassy Pond for the price and it didn't seem to be as mossy from the pictures. This is a decent park. 6 pull thrus. Don't expect to get satellite, which was fine for us. We only hooked up our electric. We turned off our middle air conditioner because the electric popped when we tried to use the convection oven, again, no big deal. The staff was pleasant and this wasn't much further from I 75. $25.00 and no tax was quite affordable. We'll stay again. We stayed in a 45' motorhome towing. We camped at Grassy Pond FamCamp (Open to the Public) in a Motorhome.

Used this spot when traveling through the area. Very convenient. The park was nice and the ease of the pull-thru was great for one night. Would have enjoyed spending more then one night...next time! We camped at Grassy Pond FamCamp (Open to the Public) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

A military park but open to the public. Very spacious sites though most are tree covered and sites seem level. As you approach the camp rv sites are to your right and if you proceed a little farther on your left are most are pull-through, these are what you want. Very nice and satellite friendly. Sites are NOT reserved, first come first site. Great fishing lake with lots of activity and very family friendly. Also includes boat marina with fishing piers, snack shop. Need a Moody fishing pass at $2.00 a day. Wifi works marginal if that, no cable. Will come back.. We camped at Grassy Pond FamCamp (Open to the Public) in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed at Grassy Pond Rec area August 5th through the 8th 2016. Very nice area but typical military. They cut grass at 0700 on Sat morning but when they got done it looked very nice. We had pull through space and it was very nice with picnic table and grill. Power was 50/30/20 amp. Water and sewer hook up well placed on site. In the RV area there are two shower areas and central one has rec room. Unfortunately rec. room has no A/C which would be ok if you could open windows but you could not. I am sure in the fall it's a great playroom. Kids pool had been refurbished and was clean and well maintained. Took my 5 YO grandson and he had a blast They also had plenty of things to do with boats, paddle boats and the like. Main office on lake has A/C and pool tables there were great. Bugs were bad but didn't really bother you except early morning and at dusk We sat outside with candle and played cards with no problems. I would stay again for sure. We camped at Grassy Pond FamCamp (Open to the Public) in a Fifth Wheel.

This was our first visit to Grassy Pond and will definitely be our last. The park is poorly maintained. The grass is overgrown and shin-deep, mosquitoes will carry you off, and the splash pool is dirty and in bad repair. There is a large metal plate over the drain (directly under the mushroom where children want to play) with very big, sharp screws sticking up out of it. Not at all safe for children! The water was dirty, dead bugs and a very strong chlorine smell. The finish is chipping off the concrete as well as the pool surface and dead grass is all in the fence around the pool area. The chairs are broken and there is no shade. The playground has asphalt milling as ground cover and is hot, smelly, and sticky. Not kid friendly. There is a small play area in the shade with sand but mosquitoes there as well, spiders on the equipment and ants in the sand. The equipment itself is old, faded and dirty. My 5 year old called it "yucky" and wanted to leave. The campsites themselves are large and have 30 & 50 amp service. There is a grill and picnic table on each site but again the grass and mosquitoes are a problem. The water is sulfur and stinks.....literally, it smells like rotten eggs! It's OK for showers or washing dishes since soap covers the smell, but I definitely wouldn't drink it. I saw in a review somewhere that "homesteaders" had been moved out. Not true; multiple sites with what appeared to be permanent housekeeping. Several sites had campers with no occupants, just locked up and sitting there. We are season pass holders at Wild Adventures and will find somewhere else to camp when we go up for a couple days, this is not worth it even at the $25/night rate. It's really sad because with some attention it could be a great place for families. We camped at Grassy Pond FamCamp (Open to the Public) in a Fifth Wheel.

Campgrounds are superb and gorgeous! Staff are friendly and informative. The only issue is do not confuse Moody AFB and the Moody AFB Annex of Grassy Pond. By mistake we took the GPS directions to the base and the Security Forces directed us to their HQ to get directions to the RV park -they and we thought it was on the base. I checked my firearm in as directed and after over an hour, we called the Grassy Pond phone number and THEY told us how to find the grounds (30-40 minutes away), whereas the security force personnel had no idea at all...they all seemed very confused! We camped at Grassy Pond FamCamp (Open to the Public) in a Motorhome.

Very nice park, pretty trees, roomy sites. Nice ammenities such as sand volleyball, fishing, and a rec-room with pool tables and Foosball (costs extra). We stayed overnight on the way home from Florida, but would have liked to stay longer. Unfortunately no fenced dog area. No ring at site but there is a community fire pit. No satellite reception due to the pretty trees. Full hook up, pull through. We camped at Grassy Pond FamCamp (Open to the Public) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We stayed at Grassy Pond for three really great days. The area is very wooded, with lots of Spanish moss hanging from the oaks, and is extremely quiet. The sites are shell covered, and some more level than others, but the hook ups are very good. We were able to drive around and pick the one we wanted (site 20), as it was only about 25% full. The WiFi worked surprising well... probably the 2nd best WiFi I've used. The cable didn't work, but over-the-air TV was okay. Good cell service, both Verizon and Karma. The bathrooms and laundry rooms were clean and adequate, open 24 hours. The other side of the green building had pool tables and a big screen TV with satellite reception, and some guests took advantage of it. There was a large fire pit with about 15 chairs around it, and tons of firewood, available to anyone that wanted to use it. Our site had what looked like a brand new grill, and a picnic table on a concrete pad.

It was quite cold when we were there, but we still did the 3.3 mile loop around Grassy Pond, and the 1.1 mile loop around Lot Pond, and they were very enjoyable. We didn't take advantage of the other activities (too cold), but there is a lot to do there, including a wading pool, rentals of various boats for the lake, fishing, basketball, volleyball, etc. Overall, we greatly enjoyed this visit and wouldn't hesitate to return. I would consider this to be a very high value. We camped at Grassy Pond FamCamp (Open to the Public) in a Motorhome.

We enjoyed our stay here, the campground is still run by the military but is open to the public. Sites are all full hook ups, the TV reception was good. The WiFi worked well at our site. Lots to do here. They rent boats , a couple of play grounds, a small wading pool, and a small store at the office. The only thing I would change is to put fire rings at the camp sites. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again. We camped at Grassy Pond FamCamp (Open to the Public) in a Travel Trailer.

It's still under management of the military, but is now open to the public. Our grandkids came for the weekend and had plenty to do. 2 separate playgrounds, basketball, volleyball, fishing and boat rentals. The sites around the outside of the campground were the best. They are angled enough that when you were sitting outside you didn't have a view of the camper next to you and nice wooded views to the rear. We were able to pick up all the major TV networks with just our antenna. Wifi is available, but a little spotty the further you were from the bathhouse. Bathrooms were clean and laundry is available. There is also a common room in the bathhouse complex with big screen TV and plenty of comfy chairs and couches. The only thing we didn't like was there were no fire rings at each campsite. They had a large fire pit near the bathhouse with firewood available but the three nights we were there, nobody used it. It was very quiet and we would stay there again when we are in the area. We camped at Grassy Pond FamCamp (Open to the Public) in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a great place to camp for active and retired military in an RV. The staff is unbelievably accommodating and friendly. The park is easily accessible from I-75, the grounds are idyllic, and there's plenty to do without leaving the campground. We didn't get to use the hiking trails as they were somewhat muddy from too much rain during our stay, and you wouldn't want to swim in either of the two lakes abutting the park (Lott's Pond and Grassy Pond) unless you're fairly adept at alligator wrangling. Now for the bad news... After two nights on a FHU pull thru RV site, we moved some of our provisions into one of their 3-bedroom rental cabins for a 4-night stay while our coach was being worked on at Alliance Coach in Lake Park. We won't remember that aspect of our stay with the same fondness as we will our RV experience. The cabins may be a good deal for a family large enough to fill the three bedroom, but at $72 per night, they're way too expensive for what you get (for two people and a dog). The kitchen and dining areas are barely adequate for two people, the largest bed in the cabin was a full-size (my wife and I had to sleep in separate rooms), and the satellite service was terrible while it was raining and not that good when it wasn't - which was just as well considering that there was only one small, fuzzy, tube t in the whole cabin. So, let's review: RV camping - Good; Cabin camping - Bad. We camped at Grassy Pond FamCamp (Open to the Public) in a Motorhome.

Rate is military. This park was easy to get to from interstate. Arrived at campground and noted sign telling us to pick our spot then go to the office and tell them where we parked. Easy, long pull through sites at the front, but further in was back-ins. Wide, nicely spaced sites, mature trees provide shade, but still able to get TV reception with antenna. Clean facilities and even has a common room. Would stay again if in area. We camped at Grassy Pond FamCamp (Open to the Public) in a Motorhome.

I very much enjoyed camping at Grassy Pond. Everything was a great value. Two small improvements would have made it a 10 for me. First, there were no fire rings at the campsites. It looked like they had one fire pit in a central location for someone to use, but it would be nice to have it right beside your campsite. The only other think that I see that could be improved on is the trails. Some parts were low and very wet and could be cleared out a little. There are several docks on the trail that are closed off and just falling apart in the water, and are now unusable. I do understand the cut backs, but I would be willing to pay a little more to help maintain the beauty of the park. These are by no means show stoppers. The park was a great value and will definitely go back again. We camped at Grassy Pond FamCamp (Open to the Public) in a Travel Trailer.
