Overall Rating:

We were given a site in the "upper" area of the campground, which is right next to a Camping World. The sites were all asphalt and level, but they were completely lacking in charm (see photo). The first site that we were assigned was too short for our travel trailer and car. We were reassigned to a site that was a bit longer. (Actually, we were reassigned twice - the first reassigned space was taken up by a storage trailer, and we had to ask again.) Shortly before we arrived, a water pipe broke in the campground, and we didn't have water for the first couple of hours. There were no trees, and our picnic table was melted in the middle (as though someone had left a hot grill on it). There were sites on a lower level, which had trees and other campers, but we weren't given a site there (even though it was a weekday and not crowded). For most of the evening, we were the only people on the upper level, which was kind of creepy since there was no gate. There was one travel trailer that appeared to be functional but not occupied. There were two obviously non-functioning trailers and a storage trailer - and us. Later in the evening, one other travel trailer arrived and was gone before we woke up. (The travel trailers that you see on the right of my photo were part of the Camping World lot.) They sold firewood, but we didn't have a fire ring in our area of the campground. There was lots of traffic noise, making it difficult to sleep. There was a swimming pool and small pond with paddle boats (we think the warning sign about alligators and poisonous snakes was probably a joke). There is a swimming pool that seemed nice (we didn't use it). There are no planned activities. The office has a few supplies, but not much. The woman who checked us in was very nice, and they do have late arrival. The grass needed to be cut around the sites on top and in the dog park. For kids who are interested in wildlife, there are frogs, toads, and lizards to be seen. We camped at Lake Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

We have stayed there before when it belonged to Camping World but this time the new owners raised their rates from $25.00 to $30.00. The billboard on the interstate says 25.00 and they don't take Good Sam or any discount. The air conditioner in the bathhouse at the lakeside sites was not working. Very hot in there! We couldn't look for a site that we liked without checking in first and paying. We ended up having to change our site anyway because we couldn't get our awning out because of a big tree and the sites are concrete and nice but the ones we have stayed on are not level. I will say the staff was very friendly but the campground just needs a lot more work done which I was told they were working on. Unfortunately we won't be staying there again. We camped at Lake Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Very disappointed this trip. We have stayed at this park many times to meet with Friends and have a good time. In the past it was good Sam and lower priced. When we arrived it was $5 per night higher priced than stated on highway billboard and no discount. So my cost for 4 nights was $50 more than expected. No pool, no cable. Will find new location to set up with friends. We camped at Lake Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Have been to this park many times when it was Camping World. Not a bad park for $20.00 and you got to pick your own site. Not so much with the new owners. Price is now $30.00 and we were assigned a site that was not at all level and had to try to navigate around a large tree to get into our site. Not easy with a motorhome towing a full size truck. The park needs a lot of updating. Will probably not return. We camped at Lake Park Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a convenient location for a one night stay. Although a bit dated (a former KOA) it was clean and the staff friendly. Cable not available, but we could pick up over-the-air television. One unexpected asset is a Camping World within easy walking distance for supplies. We camped at Lake Park Campground in a Motorhome.

This park is no longer Good Sam. We stayed in the upper open section for satellite reception since this park does not have cable and there is only one reliable over the air channel. Do not count on the Wifi either. The sites were a bit short by today's standard but level. There is a seemingly more attractive area down below near the lake. Although close to the interstate we did not find noise a problem. We camped at Lake Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Was here a few years ago at time was really run down. New owner now and he is working hard to make this a first class park. It is very clean and Big rig friendly. If you have satellite bring it as they don't have cable yet. We camped at Lake Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Very friendly staff . Roads were paved. Our site was not real level but not a major problem. Owners are working to make this top notch campground. It is an easy off and on park and a good place to stop. Close to Interstate so there was some road noise but not and issue. We did not use the wifi. There is no cable tv at present. Sites are mostly paved pull-thrus and in good condition. Easy navigation in the park. If in the area we would not hesitate to stop again at this park. We camped at Lake Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Old Camping World RV Park now under private ownership. Owner working to upgrade. Great value. Sites are a little short for pull-thrus! We had to move due to short site initially assigned and trees not allowing us to put out our slides. Site was level! Owner very accommodating and friendly. Bathrooms heated! Wifi awful but owner is working on that! Over air TV okay. We camped at Lake Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Friendly staff, 1st time check-in was lengthy after long day on road. Grounds looked like they were in midst of post-storm clean up with piles on side of roads. Large oak trees with Spanish moss. Overall nicely kept. Convenient to highway. Park not very busy. We camped at Lake Park Campground in a Motorhome.

I stayed here in my 25' MH on 9/25/17. I called ahead and let the woman who answered the phone know I was female traveling alone and was looking for a safe, satellite friendly site with FHU for an overnight. She said she'd put me "up top", which suited me just fine under the circumstances. Easy in and easy out. If I was hanging around or had kids, I'd request the lower section of the park as it has a more "camping among the trees" feel. I drove through that area before departing and really liked it, but it's definitely not satellite friendly. As far as location...it's conveniently located off the highway, but if you're sensitive to highway noise, you might have issues. I did not even notice it and slept like a baby. There is a catch and release fishing pond, shuffleboard and horse shoes. There is also an enclosed pool. The restroom was clean. I can't vouch for the showers. My site was by the office, so had strong enough WiFi that evening, but it was slow that next morning. I used my cell data, so that wasn't an issue. There is no cable as some have pointed out. The woman volunteered the local cable provider went belly up and no one has stepped in to take its place, so they haven't been able to find a provider to replace it. Site: Asphalt, pull thru, fairly level, FHU. Picnic table. I'm pretty discerning when it comes to RV Parks, especially when solo, and felt very comfortable here. It's a bit older, but I wouldn't hold that against them as it's rather charming with all the mossy trees and the pond. There is new ownership and it was evident he is in the process of sprucing up the place. The cabins were being updated. It's obvious some of the older reviews were before the current owner took over. It sounds like the place was pretty run down. He just needs time to get it back up to its former glory. We camped at Lake Park Campground in a Motorhome.

The new owner has done a fantastic job in upgrading the park since he took over. There is a catch and release fishing pond, paved roads for walking or bike riding, plenty of trees for shade. The park is quiet despite being off the interstate. This will be our new "home" whenever we pass through southern Georgia on our travels. We camped at Lake Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

It's no longer owned by Camping World. The new owner Jim met us at the gate after closing hours, and guided us to our site. He's got alot of work to do getting the campground in shape the way he wants it to be. It's a great place to get a good rest. His rates are very reasonable, daily weekly or monthly. We'll definitely be using this park on our trips south. We camped at Lake Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
