Feb 2017 - $30.00
Lots of permanent residents and roads are very narrow; could be a problem for a large RV. Gravel pads with some grass. Works fine for an overnight. - Bojangles
Nov 2016 - $35.00
The people that own this park were so nice to us. We stayed for 3 months and never had a problem. They have a laundry room that was nice and clean. Bathhouse was so clean and even smelled cleaned when you walked in!! The workers here made sure to keep it very clean.
The park itself stayed very quiet. Speed limit is 5, which I loved since I have a toddler that likes to run around. The owners also ride around during the day AND night checking on everything. Will definitely be back if my husband has a job near by again. Thank you Country Boys RV, we had the best stay. You take wonderful care of your guests. - Shelby Shoemake
Sep 2016 - $29.00
This park was great, they have redone the campground, both bath houses are new and there are 10 full hookup sites 1-10, every site that we checked had 30 and 50 amp. All the wood around the campsites is new. Park rangers were very nice and helpful. Golf course was very nice. - thejones357
Jul 2016 - $26.00
Took my two grandsons for a 2 night stay at this State Park near my home. The park has recently undergone a large renovation and in my opinion it was tax money well spent. Campsites have been upgraded with new gravel, roads repaved, underbrush cleared, etc. Park has lots to offer. We played real golf, putt putt, and the boys went swimming at the beach area. A few sites added sewer hookups and the cable was being re-done while we were here. My only complaints were no wifi or cell phone service, and my pull thru site was a little off level. If you have stayed here before, give it another try. Much improved. - dennish
May 2016 - $32.00

Went to a membership promotion to this camp site. This is the old KOA campground on lake oconee. When we arrived I immediately noticed this campground was run down. Not a lot of care given in last several years. This is a small campground with 25 percent permanent campers that looked a little rough. Several of them were for sale. Only 11 lakeside sites so don't even think you'll be on the water. Most sites were not level. The rail cars were at one time nice but not been maintained. They looked out of place in the mix of permanent campers and the rental trailers (they called cabins). I would be scared to launch a boat at the boat dock. No place to park your boat trailer in the area. I don't know how they worked that out. What they called the beach looked like they had dumped several loads of sand by the lake several years ago. But this sales guy that was trying to sell me a membership ( 15,000 dollars) seemed really inspired by this place. All during his sales pitch he kept repeating "I can't promise you anything ". I had no intention of buying into their resort going over there and after viewing the site I couldn't wait for sales pitch to be over. They'll try to hang you with one of several different package deals. I don't understand why they call it a resort. - John Quincy jones
Nov 2016 - $50.00
We went in for a "presentation " that was VERY VAGUE, when we asked what type, ie., time share, co-op purchase, etc.
Upon arrival, we were lead through the entire campground to a site that did NOT have the requested 50 amp service. Taken to another area that was SUPPOSED to fit our 42' 5th wheel. 1st site was already occupied, next site was too narrow AND had low hanging tree limbs. Finally settled on the last site in the park that could accommodate our rig. It was filthy, littered with trash including a pair of used latex gloves. The entire staff, except for one of the sales staff, was rude and snarky, not interested in customer service.
We were put in an area that was relatively unoccupied. However, 2 of the 3 nights, other campers were brought to the site right next to us...so close that we couldn't even extend our awnings. One of those campers even commented to me as to why they were put next to us...they took up part of our "yard" space, and there were plenty of other available options.
This campground was HORRENDOUS.
AS for the "presentation," the "salesman" was EXTREMELY OFFENSIVE! Within the first 20 minutes, he told us 3 times that if we weren't interested, then we were wasting his time, and we wouldn't be welcomed back. He also referred to women's temperament "during their time of month." And finally, he spoke badly of law enforcement and gave us his political views on the presidential candidates. Having spent over 35 years in Customer Service and Sales...I was APPALLED! Not to mention, my husband is retired Law Enforcement.
Needless to say, we did NOT PURCHASE their "membership" and we would camp in a LANDFILL before EVER CONSIDERING THIS DUMP AGAIN! - 1-CampeR

Georgia Power campgrounds as a rule are very nice and well run. This park is no exception. You must call for reservations, not available online. Check them out! - happygacamper

Not able to stay as we hoped as this park was closed in October when we got there. - Jamboee89
Jun 2008 - $16.00
Georgia Power Lake and can obtain reservation information from their web site. Only about 5 miles south of Interstate 20. Walking distance to the beach and nice playground. Washer/dryer located at bath house, but didn't use them. I will camp here again. - Crop Guy
Nov 2016 - $32.00
I love this park. New owners took over in mid-October, and I can't say enough about how accessible and attentive they are. The park is lovely, with a beautiful lake in the middle. The new owners are investing in making it even better; when I was there, they paved the roads, and they're working on an expansion. The bathrooms are clean and spacious and the laundry is reasonably priced.
One thing that would make it better would be to add cable TV. Currently they offer Direct TV boxes for rent at $5/day, and I had a lot of trouble with it.
Overall, it's among the very best parks I've stayed at, and I've already made my reservation here for next spring! I highly recommend it. - CamperChris4
Aug 2016 - $40.00
We have stayed here several times in the past and like it as an overnight. This time I called for reservations and was not told about PAY FOR VIEW cable nor did they give me the WiFi access information. I would hope they will remember this short fall and correct it in the future. Easy hook ups for all utilities. Fair voltage around 112 V operated both A/C ok. - Waster
Jul 2016 - $40.00
2nd time in this campground. It is shady and level with pull-throughs large enough for big rigs. They have really tried to make this a nice campground with walking a path around a nice size man made lake. The sites were close but private with fencing and natural shrubbery. Lots of poison ivy on both visits so watch out! The thing I didn't like most is this is a "workers" campground. Lot of permanent blue collar workers making noise, talking, music, etc. really early in the mornings to the point of being rude. On the first visit there was a police chase with a crash resulting in front of our loop. So I'm thinking it isn't the best quality of people in this area. We used this as a stopover both times, but most likely won't be back because both times there seemed to be some kind of chaos. - freedmskr
Feb 2017 - $25.00
Great park. Wooded, lake, boat ramp, swimming. Large level sites, group areas playground. Sites well spaced. - Falco
Aug 2016 - $20.00
We were happy. Found this campground, very beautiful, very spacious. We got waterfront view of Lake Oconee. The ground was level. It's so many trees around so you need extra careful and skill when drive the motorhome or trailer because of the trees. Each site is full hook-up. You can't swim on the lake but you can bring your boat or kayak because there is a boat pier in the campsite. One of the best campground we visit. - dije1208
Apr 2015 - $20.00
After leaving another campground in the area due to deplorable conditions, our family was lucky to be able stay at Old Salem campground. For $20 per night, you get ultra clean, newer restrooms, laundry, two new playgrounds, boat ramp, beach, and spacious sites with new picnic tables. We do our fair share of camping resorts, state parks, and private parks. This has to be one of our favorite campgrounds. Nice layout and family friendly. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys any type of camping. Will be returning for 4th of July. - Lulubelle80
Jul 2012 - $20.00
This campground is nicely wooded and most of the sites are shaded and level. While we enjoyed our stay, there are some pros and cons. Pros: level sites, quiet, not crowded, with a decent beach area. Cons: bath house was old and very dated, grass was overgrown, no trash receptacles anywhere in the park (had to go outside the gates to a dumpster), some sites have pea gravel but mine was dirt. Also the site I had was lower than the road. It rained one night so all of the water flooded our site. It appears that there are only two employees (the hosts) who work here. The campground is owned and operated by Georgia Power. I'm very surprised that they invest so little in the maintenance. Oh well, for 20 bucks what should I expect? - jconnally
Mar 2007 - $14.00
This is a beauitful park on Lake Oconee - a real fisherman's park. There are nice level back in sites which were huge. The price was right for a two night stay. The park hosts were very nice and helpful as well. This one is on my list to return too. Only drawback was its a tad bit out of the way, but worth the drive. - User224
Nov 2006 - $17.00
We celebrated Thanksgiving here with my family. This is a very clean campground with spacious sites. The facilities are a bit dated, but well cared for. Situated right on the lake with separate loops for RV & tent campers. Lots of trails to walk, friendly camp hosts, and neighborly campers. Some of the sites are far from being level, but otherwise a good place to kick back and enjoy some peace & quiet. - kdouthit
