We only stayed one night at this campground and that was in the overnight section, so I don't know how it would be for a long stay. I think I'd like to come back and spend some time here. The people in the office are very nice. The sites are long and level. The hook-ups convenient, except for the cable tv. We were in site 58; site 57 would have been better for the cable. That is on a pole shared by two sites, so it is close for one site but far for the other. - mrpeepers
Apr 2016 - $35.00
Yes, the roads are paved, but narrow. The sites are gravel, but uneven. I'd disconnected the towed, so I could move around on the site to get the rig level. There appears no maintenance is done, as the site was trashy and needed mowing. We stayed two nights, but the park is really only good for an overnight stay. - ETX
Feb 2016 - $35.00
This park does not offer any discounts other than coupons found on their web site. However, we found that since we were unable to print the coupons as we had no printer with us in our motorhome, they would not honor even their own coupons without a hard copy.
The park is easily accessible and is located about a mile south of I-20 on highway 441.
We've stayed at this park three times over the last couple years and it has improved considerably this past year after the main roads in the park were paved. The sites remain gravel/dirt. About half the park are long term residents, but overnighters are parked in the sites located nearer the front of the park.
This park is okay for an overnight stop, but we wouldn't recommend it for much more than this. - Johnson's

Took my two grandsons for a 2 night stay at this State Park near my home. The park has recently undergone a large renovation and in my opinion it was tax money well spent. Campsites have been upgraded with new gravel, roads repaved, underbrush cleared, etc. Park has lots to offer. We played real golf, putt putt, and the boys went swimming at the beach area. A few sites added sewer hookups and the cable was being re-done while we were here. My only complaints were no wifi or cell phone service, and my pull thru site was a little off level. If you have stayed here before, give it another try. Much improved. - dennish
May 2016 - $32.00
Beautiful site but regular campground and all facilities closed for construction. 11 sites available in equestrian area. No sewage or dump site. Hard to understand signs and maps Host and ranger very helpful. Construction completion maybe done July. - Always young
Jun 2014 - $28.00
Better than we expected! Large and clean sites with plenty of space. We stayed at #26 and it was flat. Sites closer to the stream are smaller, but there is still plenty of room for a fifth wheel or large travel trailer. People are supper friendly and bath houses were clean. It was quiet and there is space for any size camper in the park. Large swim area and a small lake for small boat with no motors as well. The only thing is the bath house near the circle with lake views is not updated. - gsimichele

As of July 2016, this facility was a KOA (again?). This "resort" is not at a resort standard. The camground requires that you unhitch your tow vehicle prior to entry because of the narrow roads. The site they put us in would not accommodate our 30 ft coach. It was too steep of an entry to the site and our back bumper dug into the dirt. After much debate, they moved us to a site across the way from the original site. After dragging our bumper along the cement for about 5 feet due to a steep entry, an employee commented about how lucky we were to get the shadiest site. We did not appreciate that since it was so difficult to enter the site. It was over 100 degrees when we checked in about 6 pm this day.
The restroom facility we found had exposed electrical wires, and no mirrors. We were unable to find the shower facilities. The entry gate requires a code to enter. The employee who was guiding us to the site opened it for us, but we were never given the code. It wasn't an issue for us since we arrived about 6 pm and knew we were leaving early the next morning. If we had known Lake Oconee Village was so close, we might have had dinner out while the RV cooled off. Entry into park is deceptive of park quality. Road into park from I-20 is very narrow.
Another review mentions a view of the lake. From our site, we could not see or hear the lake. If we hadn't taken a walk later that evening, we wouldn't have know the lake existed. The sites were not easy to use the hookups, based on their locations and how you had to park at each site. We rated site as bad because of the entry issues and hookup issues. - Ms Winnie
May 2016 - $54.00
The park is large and has lots of nice features. It is "rustic" and in need of repair. The decks at each site are wonderful, but are falling apart. Need paint and replacing rotting boards. The rest of the park is in the same shape. The sites are all tiered on hillsides, makes them all have a unique view of the lake, lovely. We can hear the waves lapping at the shore from our site, nice. Many trees, so no satellite dish can operate in our site unless we put out the portable one. No cable, and we could not receive any over the air channels. No biggie, kind of nice. Both pools are closed for repairs, so you might ask when they are going to be functional. Our site is not what you call spacious as far as the pad, but it is not near to any other sites. The hookups were not easy because they end up being under the slide out. - beach89bum

Newly converted to KOA - and still working at coming up to what you find at most other KOAs (at least in our experience). Our experience was very poor due to the to physical facilities related to site levelness and at least one very good opportunity for a "high center" danger.
Upon our arrival we were checked in by a courteous staff member. We were assigned to our spot and off we went. The only KOAs that we've stayed that we were not guided to our spot.
This is where the issues started. The "pull through" we were assigned to was a dirt spot - not gravel, not concrete but dirt. "Pull through" is a misnomer here - the sites are very short with severe angles and corners to cut around. With our gasser Class A our levelers couldn't level out. We changed sites 3 more times before I found a washed out site that I could level on BUT when you opened the door the bottom step was about 18" off the ground. The electrical box was leaning severely towards the water faucet and the lid was difficult to open.
After complaining I was reassigned to another spot. A back-in . I did a recon of the site and figured I could back in. I did only to find out there was 30 amp service only. (Note: I was very specific in needing a 50 amp service.) So I was again reassigned to a spot just above where I was sitting. As I looked the spot over I noticed what I believe to be a very serious problem - the real possibility of "HIGH CENTER". If you don't know what a high center danger is - I advise you to learn. In my 22 year US Army career I have seen this problem - it So I did a K turn with my 38' sports car and avoided the possible danger. Then went to a new spot. We made it work - but it wasn't easy.
In the end - this has real possibilities BUT for now avoid this place. It is about 10 miles off the I-20.
While the staff is pleasant - there are SERIOUS problems with the facility. This place has real potential but can be a real danger.
AVOID. - bigben

Georgia Power campgrounds as a rule are very nice and well run. This park is no exception. You must call for reservations, not available online. Check them out! - happygacamper

Not able to stay as we hoped as this park was closed in October when we got there. - Jamboee89
Jun 2008 - $16.00
Georgia Power Lake and can obtain reservation information from their web site. Only about 5 miles south of Interstate 20. Walking distance to the beach and nice playground. Washer/dryer located at bath house, but didn't use them. I will camp here again. - Crop Guy
Aug 2016 - $40.00
We have stayed here several times in the past and like it as an overnight. This time I called for reservations and was not told about PAY FOR VIEW cable nor did they give me the WiFi access information. I would hope they will remember this short fall and correct it in the future. Easy hook ups for all utilities. Fair voltage around 112 V operated both A/C ok. - Waster
Jul 2016 - $40.00
2nd time in this campground. It is shady and level with pull-throughs large enough for big rigs. They have really tried to make this a nice campground with walking a path around a nice size man made lake. The sites were close but private with fencing and natural shrubbery. Lots of poison ivy on both visits so watch out! The thing I didn't like most is this is a "workers" campground. Lot of permanent blue collar workers making noise, talking, music, etc. really early in the mornings to the point of being rude. On the first visit there was a police chase with a crash resulting in front of our loop. So I'm thinking it isn't the best quality of people in this area. We used this as a stopover both times, but most likely won't be back because both times there seemed to be some kind of chaos. - freedmskr
Mar 2016 - $40.00
This is a small campground with two lakes/ponds. Great trail around the park and ponds. Nice deck out over the lake where you can sit. Very wooded. Some pull through sites. We were in a back in spot that was easy in and out. Only 39 sites and they are adding more. Spacious. Library, and elliptical workout machine. We stayed three days. Very quiet campground with great WiFi and great hookups. Thick gravel, but we leveled just fine. Trees in between sites. Not a resort. A campground. Would stay again for sure. - User3274
Aug 2016 - $20.00
We were happy. Found this campground, very beautiful, very spacious. We got waterfront view of Lake Oconee. The ground was level. It's so many trees around so you need extra careful and skill when drive the motorhome or trailer because of the trees. Each site is full hook-up. You can't swim on the lake but you can bring your boat or kayak because there is a boat pier in the campsite. One of the best campground we visit. - dije1208
Apr 2015 - $20.00
After leaving another campground in the area due to deplorable conditions, our family was lucky to be able stay at Old Salem campground. For $20 per night, you get ultra clean, newer restrooms, laundry, two new playgrounds, boat ramp, beach, and spacious sites with new picnic tables. We do our fair share of camping resorts, state parks, and private parks. This has to be one of our favorite campgrounds. Nice layout and family friendly. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys any type of camping. Will be returning for 4th of July. - Lulubelle80
Aug 2014 - $20.00
Clean, well kept park on Lake Oconee. Most sites are gravel and large with good spacing. Each site has a nice table, fire ring, and grill. Lots of shade trees means satellite locations are at a premium. This is one of the Georgia Power parks. Shopping, restaurants, and movies and about 2 miles away in an upscale shopping area. It gets really busy on the holidays so get reservations. The park usually closes immediately following Labor Day but this year the doing a trial and will be open until September 28. Stop by and check it out. - Pjoe
Jul 2012 - $20.00
This campground is nicely wooded and most of the sites are shaded and level. While we enjoyed our stay, there are some pros and cons. Pros: level sites, quiet, not crowded, with a decent beach area. Cons: bath house was old and very dated, grass was overgrown, no trash receptacles anywhere in the park (had to go outside the gates to a dumpster), some sites have pea gravel but mine was dirt. Also the site I had was lower than the road. It rained one night so all of the water flooded our site. It appears that there are only two employees (the hosts) who work here. The campground is owned and operated by Georgia Power. I'm very surprised that they invest so little in the maintenance. Oh well, for 20 bucks what should I expect? - jconnally
Mar 2007 - $14.00
This is a beauitful park on Lake Oconee - a real fisherman's park. There are nice level back in sites which were huge. The price was right for a two night stay. The park hosts were very nice and helpful as well. This one is on my list to return too. Only drawback was its a tad bit out of the way, but worth the drive. - User224
Nov 2006 - $17.00
We celebrated Thanksgiving here with my family. This is a very clean campground with spacious sites. The facilities are a bit dated, but well cared for. Situated right on the lake with separate loops for RV & tent campers. Lots of trails to walk, friendly camp hosts, and neighborly campers. Some of the sites are far from being level, but otherwise a good place to kick back and enjoy some peace & quiet. - kdouthit
