Site 1C. Spacious, grass surface, picnic table, quiet, but no sewer. Great view. Lots of places to walk dog to view horses, chickens, peacocks ,water, etc. Convenient to Savannah. We would stay here again. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Nice park about 10 minutes from Savannah. Lots of grass, large sites and fine for big rigs. It had full hooks, but no cable. Satelitte worked well. Walking trails, swimming pool, etc. on the down side, the driveway is dirt and dusty. We were near the entry and all cars had to pass by. Very dusty. The sewer arrangement on our site (#1) was poorly situated. We had to move to use the sewer. They do have propane, which we needed. With the windows open there is some train and traffic noise. That being said, we would recommend this park for your visit to Savannah. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Old Town Trolley will pick you up and return you to the RV park if you make arrangements in the office.

Grass and gravel site, picnic table in good shape. Level lots. Wi-Fi worked but was having DNS trouble. Reported it to the office, they were working on resetting it. Wonderful farm setting, horses, lakes, chickens and alligators. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We rented a car and went into Savannah several times. Very close by. Could not get into the River restaurants even during the week. We took a Movie Tour and it was wonderful.

Have stayed here several times and have very few negatives. Closest decent CG to Savannah's historic areas and very convenient drive to and from CG. Close to every type of store needed. CG roads are crushed gravel and have been smoothed out so pot holes no longer an issue. CG office has been relocated closer to campsites, a plus. Sites themselves are mostly level and large enough for every sized rig. Most can be driven into although referred to as "back in". Distance between sites was comfortable for us, not 'state park' space but definitely better than many CG's we have been to in high tourist areas. Hookups were adequate and well located. Open field so satellite access shouldn't be a problem. Minimal road noise at some sites closest to it, and yes, there are trains that go by, but not a problem or distraction for us. Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Agree with most who say WiFi should be improved, but that's really the only negative issue we have found. Noticed a concern about the surrounding neighborhood - don't know why. It seems absolutely safe to us - and we've been 'out and about' in Savannah well after dark, returning to the CG very late on several occasions. Tour trolley will do pick up right at CG and return you back by dinner time! Amenities were fine (liked the pool!) but would suggest they increase number of washers/dryers to fit size of CG! Overall, this is our "go to" CG whenever we go to Savannah! We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Don't forget there is free bus service in historic area. The Pink House! food is awesome and atmosphere is perfect. Can be formal or casual (the bar area has same great food). Also love 'Savannah Smiles', a dueling-piano bar actually between Bay St and River St. Don't miss out on the pedicabs - take you almost anywhere in the historic area (not allowed on River St but will take you to the elevator!) Easier to get than a cab and much more fun!

Most sites are surrounding a large open field. All are crushed gravel and level. Even though the sites are back in, they are accessible from the back side so you can drive through. The ground is firm, so you can drive most anywhere. The check-in was interesting. Went in to the office to the counter and was invited to a private office where the registration was completed. Was given lots of local information. Friendly, but a little long. The grounds are beautiful. On the back of the property was the Mackey House. Beautiful. Red Gate is close to Savannah. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is a pretty small park and very well kept. It was basically all open field and you can enter from the front or the back of the site, so really almost like a pull-thru. The utilities worked well, probably the only complaint there is they are shared with your neighbor so we felt like we were really close together. The sites are level. There is plenty of room to walk your dog and a little pond for fishing. It is very close to downtown Savannah which was a real bonus. We would stay here again. We camped here for 4 nights which was all we could get. Would've liked to stay longer. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Campground is close to town to tour Savannah and surrounding areas. Parking spaces were not level. Luckily we were small and could find a flatter area on our assigned spot. We did not have crushed rocks but dirt and grass

Be sure to have an outside filter on your water as it smells bad.

Due to limited choices in area we probably would camp here again. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Nightly rate is based on weekly price. The sites are located around the perimeter of a large grassy square. The roads inside the park had many potholes. Most of the sites are back-in, and you drive over the grass to access your site. The sites are adequately spaced for slide-outs, but close together. There is no shade at the sites or in the grassy square. We did enjoy walking around the farm, which was lovely.

The lounge, laundry and kitchen area were clean and well equipped. There was even a small workout room available to guests. The park was very dog-friendly. We saw many travelers with well-behaved dogs; one of our neighbors had 4 dogs!

As with so many of the parks where we have stayed, the wifi was problematic. When we were able to connect the Internet was slow, and continuously dropped.

The noise level was also an issue during our stay, not only from the adjacent highway, but there was also a good amount of traffic on the interior roads at odd hours. There was one evening when fireworks were lit off at the park for 45 minutes at 11pm.

The best part about this park is the proximity to downtown Savannah. We stayed here to tour the city, and we were only 5-10 minutes away from downtown. We spent most of our days just walking the squares, and this park allowed us the convenience of a short drive. I should add that the park is not in the best part of town, but we felt safe inside the park. We would stay here again next time we visit Savannah. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We travelled to Savannah almost every day during our stay, and found that the cheapest parking is at the Civic Center. Only 50 cents per hour.

We found the most delicious panaderia just a couple of miles away, tucked into the back of a convenience store (Jasmine Food Mart). The smell of fresh baked breads overwhelms you as soon as you walk in. We visited this store 4 times during our stay!

Unique park. Much open area. Didn't do it but horseback riding on site. Appears to be working ranch.

Initially all full hooks were full but offered dry camping and wait list. Got last full hookup sit.

No cable but 10 on air channels. All good except couldn't get CBS.

Tour trolley picks up at campground at 9am but returns a little late (4:30PM). We took a cab back - fare $16.00.

Would return. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Former farmland provides attractive background with loads of open land, stands of trees and ponds. Main RV area is a huge rectangle with units facing toward huge grassy center. Solid crushed rock site was level with convenient utility connections. Very good water pressure, very good wifi. Some highway noise and significant railway noise. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Stayed for 6 nights with our fifth wheel. Great location to use as a base for exploring Savannah, Tybee Island and other points of interest nearby. Even drove up to Hilton Head one day. Hop On Hop Off Shuttle comes right out to campground and picks you up to take you on a tour of the Historical Downtown Savannah area. Sites were spacious and well maintained. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We loved the food at Paula Dean and sons restaurant, The Lady and Sons in Savannah, the food at The Pirate Restaurant was also very good. Loved historic downtown Savannah.

We had a pull-through full hookup site out in the open with a small palm tree and white crushed rock pad. The campground was very busy while we were there and it is advisable to make a reservation if you want any hookups. The office is located in the back and not readily visible when arriving to check in, and RVs are restricted from driving up to it. The laundry has 2 washers and 2 dryers and one of each does not have a coin slot and is on the "honor system" to put $2 for each cycle used in an envelope and leave at the office. The negatives were on our site. The 50 amp hookup plug did not have a cover and there is no breaker at the site to turn off when hooking and unhooking. The sewer was very slow and over-flows when dumping. This had also happened prior to our arrival because there was toilet paper around the sewer hookup. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Very convenient location for visiting Savannah and local attractions. Driving in to the Savannah Visitors Center was quick in the morning and Old Town Trolley provides a voucher for free parking there and online tickets are discounted.

This is a great, convenient and relaxing place to stay while visiting Savannah. The property is unique in that it was once a farm, and it has been repurposed well. We stayed in site 3, a pull-thru, and it was easy to access, but found the utilities to be "split".......power and sewer on the correct side, and water on the passenger side. (Not a problem, though.....we had enough hose). Not all of the sites are set up like this, but for some reason, ours was. The Old Town Trolley is a great way to visit Savannah, and they even come right to the campground to pick you up, so you don't have to drive into town to sightsee. All utilities worked well, we had a good Verizon signal, and had no obstructions for satellite. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We loved this small RV park. The area where you park your RV is in an open area and some have shade but some don't have any. The spots are convenient to get in and out and they have several different areas. What makes this park special is ALL the other property that it's located on. There are 5 ponds, horses, peacocks, several variety of ducks, resort type pool and lots of places to explore. This is a great park if you don't have something planned every day in Savannah. The grounds are so beautiful! We purchased a tour on the hop on-hop off bus and they pick you up right at the park. We also miscalculated our dates and they helped us out even though they were completely booked. They found a place on their grounds that we could stay and they were very helpful. We will stay here again. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
