This is a great, convenient and relaxing place to stay while visiting Savannah. The property is unique in that it was once a farm, and it has been repurposed well. We stayed in site 3, a pull-thru, and it was easy to access, but found the utilities to be "split".......power and sewer on the correct side, and water on the passenger side. (Not a problem, though.....we had enough hose). Not all of the sites are set up like this, but for some reason, ours was. The Old Town Trolley is a great way to visit Savannah, and they even come right to the campground to pick you up, so you don't have to drive into town to sightsee. All utilities worked well, we had a good Verizon signal, and had no obstructions for satellite. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We loved this small RV park. The area where you park your RV is in an open area and some have shade but some don't have any. The spots are convenient to get in and out and they have several different areas. What makes this park special is ALL the other property that it's located on. There are 5 ponds, horses, peacocks, several variety of ducks, resort type pool and lots of places to explore. This is a great park if you don't have something planned every day in Savannah. The grounds are so beautiful! We purchased a tour on the hop on-hop off bus and they pick you up right at the park. We also miscalculated our dates and they helped us out even though they were completely booked. They found a place on their grounds that we could stay and they were very helpful. We will stay here again. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Wonderful plantation feel campground. Campsites are in 2 different areas of this 440 acre plantation complete with horses, ducks, hens, a goat, cats, peacocks, etc. The big area for campers is the open field as soon as you come onto the property. It is open with minimal shade, but the sites are spacious. We opted for the " semi-private" sites in back of the office. There are 3 of them and well worth the extra $10 per night. We could not even see the field of campers and our site faced a pretty lake, and to our right was a beautiful site of the owner's home and horses (set very far away from us). The staff/owners were very welcoming and made us feel at home. They offered us access to every part of the plantation and encouraged us to take it all in. The pool was nice and clean. The grounds are well maintained and some of the original barns and farming equipment is there. Great walking trails, quiet setting. The only negative was the laundry facilities. Only 2 washers and 2 dryers. One of each is coin operated, the others they have an honor system of leaving $2 to wash or dry for each. The washer and dryers were not commercial grade- after a full cycle for $2 to dry my clothes, they were still very damp, which would have meant another $2 for just about 20 more minutes. Laundry room and office were very clean. They offer horseback riding on the property which we did not use - $90 for about an hour which we felt was steep. Otherwise, this was an absolutely wonderful stay, and will definitely go back! Also on the property, tucked way back, is a gorgeous southern plantation home they use for weddings. Very picturesque and it was a nice walk down to see it. The owners love you exploring the property. Southern hospitality at its best! We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Very convenient to historic Savannah. Easy to get around. Can't emphasize enough to upgrade to the semi-private sites! Well worth it! So much to do and see in the area- stay for a minimum of 3 or 4 days.

Always enjoy coming back to Red Gate. This visit was for a week while we attended a wedding downtown. Very convenient to all the River Street fun and a relaxing get away from the crowds. We really enjoyed the tranquility of the semiprivate sites. We were tucked under a huge live oak tree that shaded us from the worst of the heat. We agree that these sites are definitely worth the little bit extra. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

A very nice park. We rated the value low as we did not make use of any of the amenities i.e. pool, pond, or horseback riding. Value would have been satisfactory had we made use of those amenities. Interesting that you drive across grass to get to your site. Sites are back-ins on the perimeter of a large grassy area. All sites have a fire pit. Plenty long with room in between. Road leading to office is dirt, could get very dusty. Did not see any signage from highway. We stayed two nights. Nice walking trail. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

This is the most amazing rv park. My husband was in heaven! We got one of the three semi-private sites behind the office under some huge oak trees. These are grass sites quite a way from the gravel road so you don't have to deal with any dust. Right next to us was an open field so we had great satellite reception while enjoying the shade from the trees. In front of us was a gorgeous view of one of three beautiful fishing ponds. My husband was allowed to fish without a license which he did every day while I drove the very short distance (about three exits) to downtown Savannah. We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We stayed here 8 nights, and I barely had enough time to see everything in Savannah. One day we took a road trip to Beaufort, SC, to see the beautiful homes there. I wish I had allowed more time for that as I didn't get to see everything. On the way back we stopped by Hilton Head Island (which is HUGE) to check out the golf courses there.

This is a small, fairly intimate campground with approx. 20 sites situated around an open field. I would certainly stay here again; especially, for its being so close to downtown. However, the camp would be well served by an investment in some trees/landscaping in the big field and replacing the worn out picnic tables (to begin with). Also, there are fire rings for only about half the sites.

WiFi is only available in the sites near the office. I don't recall that cable is available at all. The spaces are quite close together, some uncomfortably so. We had to move several times in the week while there and ended up on corner site #17, arguably the best site in my opinion.

There are adjacent ponds and a horse farm which add a really nice pastoral feeling. And, the staff are very welcoming and friendly.

Resist accepting site 19 or 20, as they are (inexplicably) only about six or seven feet apart. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Excellent campground that is close to downtown Savannah, but away from the noise of the city. Awesome trails for walking, clean pool, and great fishing ponds for the kiddos! Huge sites for big rigs, super clean, and friendly staff. We will return here soon! Only negative was no cable, wifi, or shade in the middle sites. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

All pads are white rock base, ours had power 50/30 Amp, sewer and water hookup, no cable. Average WiFi. We had a corner lot so it had a nice size yard, pet friendly. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

About 10 minutes to river street area depending on traffic. There are stores and eating places within 2 miles.

We stayed at Red Gate during the St Patricks Day festival in Savannah. The sites are in an open field with almost no shade at all. The power at our site was having issues which we addressed with the office but by the time we left it was still an issue. The land the campground is on is nice and great to walk around and a convenient drive to Savannah. Not our preferred place to stay, but during St Patricks Day, almost every other campground was full. If we return to Savannah we would probably look elsewhere to stay. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Park set up was nice- pretty lake and trails but there's also a lot of dirt! We only had one day of rain so we had very dirty dogs. There was also a lot of road noise, sirens, and trains (which come thru all night blowing their horn) all that having been said, staff was nice and laundry and dumpster were easy access. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Easy drive to Savannah and campground does offer tickets to tour downtown at a discount- highly recommend the tour! Savannah is a fascinating city! Also only 4 miles to Kroger, Walgreens, and several restaurants

We loved this park. As others stated, there are no trees in most of the campsite area, however we were here during a cool spell and that was not an issue. The park was clean and well kept and has walking trails and a small animal farm which my wife enjoyed. There is also a playground for those with small children. The driveways are dirt with gravel only on the parking pads, but even with rain the ground was solid. The water is good (no smell). The employees were helpful and friendly and seemed to know their business. The rate we got included a reduced "off season" discount. Regular fee would have been $45. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

17 minutes to Historic Savannah with normal traffic. Easy commute.

Beautiful rural park only 10 minutes from downtown Savannah. Easy access with plenty of room to maneuver. Would rate a 10 if they paved the dirt roads and added cable. I will return. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Easy in and out. Parked close to office and Wi-Fi was fine. Looks like they have cleaned the place up a lot from a year ago when we were there. I had no problem with noise but there is a lot of areas with thin grass. It did rain while we were there but no big deal. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Go to Love's for great food.

Since the sites are around an open field, maneuvering a big rig is very easy. Most sites are in full sun except for some back ins by the trees which enjoy afternoon shade. Apparently there are some sites in the trees also. It's a pleasant enough atmosphere and is close to downtown Savannah and about 7 miles off the interestate. No cable and no wifi except at the clubhouse. Weak, unstable or nonexistent wifi is getting to be the norm for parks as the need and usage increase. Frustrating. Some sites are very close and others are more than ample so pick your spot if you can. Fire rings have been added since our last stay but the picnic tables need to be replaced. The price has gone up $5 every year. If you need wifi, Red Gate is a problem. But if not, it's a nice CG. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.
