Really liked this park. The place was interesting. The grounds were nice had a couple of nice ponds, pool, allowed to walk all around. They had a film crew there, while interesting they were loud a couple nights. Sites were decent size, good power, very close to town. We would recommend. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Very convenient park if you plan to visit historic downtown Savannah. A bit pricey, but considering the area the price was in line. We stayed in an overflow site that had water and electric only but the setting on this farm is beautiful. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Not much to add to previous reviews. Nice place to overnight or to spend time visiting the many sights historic or otherwise here. Staff is friendly and helpful. The "open" parking areas are good for satellite reception. The Old Town Trolley Tour of Savannah is a great way to see historic Savannah, plus they pick you up at the park. Wifi is weak and mostly useless during typical use hours. We enjoyed our stay here and will again when in the area. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

The usual shopping close by and a Camping World. The dining options in Savannahs historic district is overwhelming but worth exploring.

The grounds at this were like few we've seen. The sites were in gravel or grass. There was an unbelievable amount of space between the sites. Rates were very reasonable. Our dogs fell in love with the place. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed one week and paid $45/night. There was no tax. The reservation process and check-in went smoothly. The reception staff was efficient and extremely helpful and friendly. The park (farm) is a lovely property as others have described. It's a wonderful place to take walks and enjoy nature. The pygmy goats are so cute! The huge grassy areas, playground, lakes, animals, pool, etc. make this ideal for families although we didn't see children while we were there. The office allowed us to receive packages. The campground picks up trash daily at each site. We had two tornado warnings (quite serious and scary) during our stay. Since we're from California with no tornado experience, the staff instructed us on how to prepare, what to expect and where to go if necessary. We were glad to know the park has a tornado siren system which, fortunately, didn't sound during our stay. There is moderate hwy and train noise but it didn't bother us. The roads are a bit dusty. All hook-ups functioned perfectly. Park wifi did not work at our site but did work at the office. Verizon cell, Sprint Mifi and DirecTV signals were fine. If in the area, we would definitely stay here again. They have a huge grassy field where they offer dry-camping (across from sites 4-12) by the volleyball court. If you need a place to stop for the night without unhooking your toad, this would be a good choice. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Museum of the Mighty Eighth is a must. Allow twice as much time as you think you need. Try Joe's Homemade Cafe for a reasonably priced delicious lunch, fantastic desserts, free parking and delightful hospitality. We loved Adventures in Motion Segway tour which includes an audio feed so you can listen to your guide while moving. Take your Natl Park Pass to Fort Pulaski. Catch the canon firing and free guided tour. We enjoyed riding the bike paths on Hilton Head Island.

Check-in was quick and painless. Office staff was great. Campground and site was clean and well maintained. The only reason no 10 rating from me. They have a serious issue with the drainfield area. On the last day of our stay their was raw sewage sitting in the drainfield area. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Easy access to historic Savannah: tour trolley comes right to park. Grass sites, no concrete. Basically level although we did use a bit of block on one side. WiFi only in office (although they claim to cover the entire park). Nice staff. Not sure I am remembering the fee correctly. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Savannah is a historic city and well worth a visit. We took the hop on/hop off trolley two days and felt it was worth while. We completed the loop without getting off then went again and got off at sites we wanted to see.

Most sites are in a ring around the outside of a large field, with electric and water hookups. This time we got a site off the main area, a nice quite site tucked off to the side by a pavilion by a beautiful lake. Sites are grass, reasonably level with water and electric. The "bathhouse" is inside the office. It is a small house with the check in desk, the wifi/common room, and then 2 regular household full bathrooms, not a traditional campground bathroom. The property is very close to Savannah, but is located on a farm setting. My kids love the horses, goats, chickens, peacocks and other animals on the farm. Nice property around which to take a walk after dinner too. This is our second stay, they are always nice and accommodating here. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

What the others have said. Not a bad campground but the wifi is hit and miss, a sure way to upset customers. The biggest downfall is the dust from the interior roads. This most likely is the dustiest campground in the USA if not the world. I guess the owners haven't heard of calcium chloride or other things to knock down road gravel dust. 3 weddings going on here the same day and I feel sorry for the guest because of this. Easy in and out. Confusing office location for first time visitor's. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Most site are in a square around a field. You just drive through the field to your site. The pool was nice and the hop on and off trolley will pick you up from the campground. we thought the roads getting to the historic area were a bit on confusing. Office lady gave us a great parking tip. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We've stayed here twice--both times for one night only on our way to someplace else. The staff is very accommodating. The sites are on a large, grassy field, but the campground is in a farm setting with a pretty lake and gazebo. There is also a pool with restrooms, but there's only one other restroom/shower in the main office building. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We stayed one night. Found out they only have 50 amp hookups. The office was nice about letting us borrow a transformer for the night. We had to pay $10 extra for the other 2 adults but the kids under 18 were free. Bathrooms were satisfactory. One of the 4 showers was out of order. The RV campground was nice. There is a club house we didn't use but peeked in the window. It had a pool table and large TV. I loved the farm atmosphere. They have some goats, horses, ducks, chickens and pheasants. The RV area is very sunny. Could plant a few trees to make some shade. I would stay here again. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

My wife and I wanted to use Savannah GA as a home base to visit nearby cities, beaches and islands. Red Gate seemed to be upscale and boasted having some "semi-Private" sites. Looking at the website campground, this seemed to be true so we called and booked the site & were told B-3 was the most secluded site available. The map showed no other campsites nearby so a higher rate seemed justified. We arrived late but the office was opened and our campsite info was posted indicating where B-3 was located. We backed in and noted a major problem, the pad was significantly lower than the sewer hook-up. Water does not flow uphill!

The next morning we awoke to find neighbors had arrived during the night and those campsites (loose definition) are not indicated on the site map. This is a large and beautiful farm, converted to a RV park. There are a number of places to camp, next to the office, just run a water hose and drop cord out or tent camping under a tree. I overheard others discussing how "disorganized" it seemed to be. Sewer, water and electrical is poorly designed and not up to code. As an example, the conduit to the electrical was not put together and glued, letting in water.

The office is a converted double wide trailer. The "showers" in the office, are two small home-style baths but not built for mass use, and the use/abuse is evident. The hosts were courteous, polite and helpful.

Although I mentioned my concern about the sewer, the maintenance man came by and had no suggestions. He said that previously they put only large "Pusher" trailers in B-3. When I tried to drain the sewer, major problem!

The last day we woke up to cigarette smoke and learned during the night new neighbor moved in and we were "enjoying " his smoke before we got out of bed. We checked out. Not worth the up-charge for privacy.

This is a beautiful campground, great location but significantly overpriced for semi-private accommodations. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.
