Nightly rate is based on weekly price. The sites are located around the perimeter of a large grassy square. The roads inside the park had many potholes. Most of the sites are back-in, and you drive over the grass to access your site. The sites are adequately spaced for slide-outs, but close together. There is no shade at the sites or in the grassy square. We did enjoy walking around the farm, which was lovely.

The lounge, laundry and kitchen area were clean and well equipped. There was even a small workout room available to guests. The park was very dog-friendly. We saw many travelers with well-behaved dogs; one of our neighbors had 4 dogs!

As with so many of the parks where we have stayed, the wifi was problematic. When we were able to connect the Internet was slow, and continuously dropped.

The noise level was also an issue during our stay, not only from the adjacent highway, but there was also a good amount of traffic on the interior roads at odd hours. There was one evening when fireworks were lit off at the park for 45 minutes at 11pm.

The best part about this park is the proximity to downtown Savannah. We stayed here to tour the city, and we were only 5-10 minutes away from downtown. We spent most of our days just walking the squares, and this park allowed us the convenience of a short drive. I should add that the park is not in the best part of town, but we felt safe inside the park. We would stay here again next time we visit Savannah. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We travelled to Savannah almost every day during our stay, and found that the cheapest parking is at the Civic Center. Only 50 cents per hour.

We found the most delicious panaderia just a couple of miles away, tucked into the back of a convenience store (Jasmine Food Mart). The smell of fresh baked breads overwhelms you as soon as you walk in. We visited this store 4 times during our stay!

Campground is close to town to tour Savannah and surrounding areas. Parking spaces were not level. Luckily we were small and could find a flatter area on our assigned spot. We did not have crushed rocks but dirt and grass

Be sure to have an outside filter on your water as it smells bad.

Due to limited choices in area we probably would camp here again. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Former farmland provides attractive background with loads of open land, stands of trees and ponds. Main RV area is a huge rectangle with units facing toward huge grassy center. Solid crushed rock site was level with convenient utility connections. Very good water pressure, very good wifi. Some highway noise and significant railway noise. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Unique park. Much open area. Didn't do it but horseback riding on site. Appears to be working ranch.

Initially all full hooks were full but offered dry camping and wait list. Got last full hookup sit.

No cable but 10 on air channels. All good except couldn't get CBS.

Tour trolley picks up at campground at 9am but returns a little late (4:30PM). We took a cab back - fare $16.00.

Would return. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We had a pull-through full hookup site out in the open with a small palm tree and white crushed rock pad. The campground was very busy while we were there and it is advisable to make a reservation if you want any hookups. The office is located in the back and not readily visible when arriving to check in, and RVs are restricted from driving up to it. The laundry has 2 washers and 2 dryers and one of each does not have a coin slot and is on the "honor system" to put $2 for each cycle used in an envelope and leave at the office. The negatives were on our site. The 50 amp hookup plug did not have a cover and there is no breaker at the site to turn off when hooking and unhooking. The sewer was very slow and over-flows when dumping. This had also happened prior to our arrival because there was toilet paper around the sewer hookup. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Very convenient location for visiting Savannah and local attractions. Driving in to the Savannah Visitors Center was quick in the morning and Old Town Trolley provides a voucher for free parking there and online tickets are discounted.

Stayed for 6 nights with our fifth wheel. Great location to use as a base for exploring Savannah, Tybee Island and other points of interest nearby. Even drove up to Hilton Head one day. Hop On Hop Off Shuttle comes right out to campground and picks you up to take you on a tour of the Historical Downtown Savannah area. Sites were spacious and well maintained. it is a very nice setting. Pond, horses, farm animals, etc. it's clearly not worth $40 for no sewer. I was in a nice open spot away from the area that had sewer hookups, yet I paid the same rate.

I never complain about office staff because after all, what do you need them for after you've checked in. Well, check in was frustrating to say the least. The office staff was terrible. Disorganized, un-focused, and rambled on about nothing. A one night stay took 15 minutes to settle. I thought I was in the twilight zone. The music actually started playing in my head. They have to fix this. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is a great, convenient and relaxing place to stay while visiting Savannah. The property is unique in that it was once a farm, and it has been repurposed well. We stayed in site 3, a pull-thru, and it was easy to access, but found the utilities to be "split".......power and sewer on the correct side, and water on the passenger side. (Not a problem, though.....we had enough hose). Not all of the sites are set up like this, but for some reason, ours was. The Old Town Trolley is a great way to visit Savannah, and they even come right to the campground to pick you up, so you don't have to drive into town to sightsee. All utilities worked well, we had a good Verizon signal, and had no obstructions for satellite. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We loved this small RV park. The area where you park your RV is in an open area and some have shade but some don't have any. The spots are convenient to get in and out and they have several different areas. What makes this park special is ALL the other property that it's located on. There are 5 ponds, horses, peacocks, several variety of ducks, resort type pool and lots of places to explore. This is a great park if you don't have something planned every day in Savannah. The grounds are so beautiful! We purchased a tour on the hop on-hop off bus and they pick you up right at the park. We also miscalculated our dates and they helped us out even though they were completely booked. They found a place on their grounds that we could stay and they were very helpful. We will stay here again. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This is a small park, but access to Savannah and other areas (shopping, theaters, etc.) is excellent. If you can get it (and afford it), go for one of the three semi-private spots. I think we got the best spot in the place (B3), which overlooked a huge adjacent grassy field and horse paddock. We walked all over the area, and while we didn't use any of the amenities, the pool area, playground and clubhouse all looked great. The rest of the spots were pretty much scattered throughout a large field, so there was no sense of privacy or spacing between rigs. Still, if returning to Savannah, we'd stay there again even if we couldn't get one of the semi-private spots, as the location was just too good. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

What can I say about Savannah except "Wow!" Other than the heat and humidity, this city warrants a much longer stay than what we were able to do. So much history, so much to do and see here. We've been on the road full-time for 17 months traveling the US, and it is one of the gems of our adventure so far.

Always enjoy coming back to Red Gate. This visit was for a week while we attended a wedding downtown. Very convenient to all the River Street fun and a relaxing get away from the crowds. We really enjoyed the tranquility of the semiprivate sites. We were tucked under a huge live oak tree that shaded us from the worst of the heat. We agree that these sites are definitely worth the little bit extra. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Wonderful plantation feel campground. Campsites are in 2 different areas of this 440 acre plantation complete with horses, ducks, hens, a goat, cats, peacocks, etc. The big area for campers is the open field as soon as you come onto the property. It is open with minimal shade, but the sites are spacious. We opted for the " semi-private" sites in back of the office. There are 3 of them and well worth the extra $10 per night. We could not even see the field of campers and our site faced a pretty lake, and to our right was a beautiful site of the owner's home and horses (set very far away from us). The staff/owners were very welcoming and made us feel at home. They offered us access to every part of the plantation and encouraged us to take it all in. The pool was nice and clean. The grounds are well maintained and some of the original barns and farming equipment is there. Great walking trails, quiet setting. The only negative was the laundry facilities. Only 2 washers and 2 dryers. One of each is coin operated, the others they have an honor system of leaving $2 to wash or dry for each. The washer and dryers were not commercial grade- after a full cycle for $2 to dry my clothes, they were still very damp, which would have meant another $2 for just about 20 more minutes. Laundry room and office were very clean. They offer horseback riding on the property which we did not use - $90 for about an hour which we felt was steep. Otherwise, this was an absolutely wonderful stay, and will definitely go back! Also on the property, tucked way back, is a gorgeous southern plantation home they use for weddings. Very picturesque and it was a nice walk down to see it. The owners love you exploring the property. Southern hospitality at its best! We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Very convenient to historic Savannah. Easy to get around. Can't emphasize enough to upgrade to the semi-private sites! Well worth it! So much to do and see in the area- stay for a minimum of 3 or 4 days.

This is the most amazing rv park. My husband was in heaven! We got one of the three semi-private sites behind the office under some huge oak trees. These are grass sites quite a way from the gravel road so you don't have to deal with any dust. Right next to us was an open field so we had great satellite reception while enjoying the shade from the trees. In front of us was a gorgeous view of one of three beautiful fishing ponds. My husband was allowed to fish without a license which he did every day while I drove the very short distance (about three exits) to downtown Savannah. We will definitely stay here again. Tips for other Campers:

We stayed here 8 nights, and I barely had enough time to see everything in Savannah. One day we took a road trip to Beaufort, SC, to see the beautiful homes there. I wish I had allowed more time for that as I didn't get to see everything. On the way back we stopped by Hilton Head Island (which is HUGE) to check out the golf courses there.

A very nice park. We rated the value low as we did not make use of any of the amenities i.e. pool, pond, or horseback riding. Value would have been satisfactory had we made use of those amenities. Interesting that you drive across grass to get to your site. Sites are back-ins on the perimeter of a large grassy area. All sites have a fire pit. Plenty long with room in between. Road leading to office is dirt, could get very dusty. Did not see any signage from highway. We stayed two nights. Nice walking trail. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
