RVs in a circle facing each other on a large mowed grass field with full hookups. Some sites are larger than others. At our site we were close to our neighbors. Lots of grass and was a great place to walk the dogs. Wifi was slow. Satellite friendly and lots of OTA stations. We were here during the week so can't speak to the comments about loud noise from events. Some train noise but at least they didn't blow their horns at night. It is a lovely place to take a walk; horses, chickens, goats and all. Not too far from Savannah historic district. It was ok for a few nights to see Savannah. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

What the others have said. Not a bad campground but the wifi is hit and miss, a sure way to upset customers. The biggest downfall is the dust from the interior roads. This most likely is the dustiest campground in the USA if not the world. I guess the owners haven't heard of calcium chloride or other things to knock down road gravel dust. 3 weddings going on here the same day and I feel sorry for the guest because of this. Easy in and out. Confusing office location for first time visitor's. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We've stayed here twice--both times for one night only on our way to someplace else. The staff is very accommodating. The sites are on a large, grassy field, but the campground is in a farm setting with a pretty lake and gazebo. There is also a pool with restrooms, but there's only one other restroom/shower in the main office building. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We had a pull-through full hookup site out in the open with a small palm tree and white crushed rock pad. The campground was very busy while we were there and it is advisable to make a reservation if you want any hookups. The office is located in the back and not readily visible when arriving to check in, and RVs are restricted from driving up to it. The laundry has 2 washers and 2 dryers and one of each does not have a coin slot and is on the "honor system" to put $2 for each cycle used in an envelope and leave at the office. The negatives were on our site. The 50 amp hookup plug did not have a cover and there is no breaker at the site to turn off when hooking and unhooking. The sewer was very slow and over-flows when dumping. This had also happened prior to our arrival because there was toilet paper around the sewer hookup. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Very convenient location for visiting Savannah and local attractions. Driving in to the Savannah Visitors Center was quick in the morning and Old Town Trolley provides a voucher for free parking there and online tickets are discounted.

it is a very nice setting. Pond, horses, farm animals, etc. it's clearly not worth $40 for no sewer. I was in a nice open spot away from the area that had sewer hookups, yet I paid the same rate.

I never complain about office staff because after all, what do you need them for after you've checked in. Well, check in was frustrating to say the least. The office staff was terrible. Disorganized, un-focused, and rambled on about nothing. A one night stay took 15 minutes to settle. I thought I was in the twilight zone. The music actually started playing in my head. They have to fix this. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We stayed at Red Gate during the St Patricks Day festival in Savannah. The sites are in an open field with almost no shade at all. The power at our site was having issues which we addressed with the office but by the time we left it was still an issue. The land the campground is on is nice and great to walk around and a convenient drive to Savannah. Not our preferred place to stay, but during St Patricks Day, almost every other campground was full. If we return to Savannah we would probably look elsewhere to stay. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We chose this campground due to its proximity to old Savannah. Savannah didn't disappoint, but this park was a bit of a let down. I will say it is a very unique place. The duck pond and the geese and chickens really gave it a farm feel. The dogs enjoyed watchiing the hundreds of squirrels on the property. But all the sites are out in a big field. No shade, ants everywhere, and no pavement or concrete. We were constantly sweeping dirt, sand and ants out of our coach. There was no escaping it. If you like to rough it, this park is just fine. Nice folks and all, but this park was just not our cup of tea. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

The park campsites are in a field and three or four shaded spots that are not within the other sites, but back in the trees isolated from others. There is no sun in these spots. In the field there was a bathroom that didn't have paper in there for the 4 days the we stayed. This location is fine for seeing the sites. Freeway is just around the corner. Trains 24 / 7 for those romantic nights. Pool was closed look like it was closed for some time. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Beautiful surroundings, clean, large sites. Can only contact staff by cell phone. The laundry has one washer and one dryer and is far from all sites as is the shower and toilet. Each pad is graveled, but when the dirt/clay around the site is wet it becomes a mess. Would love to stay here again if they upgraded all the facilities. Sites are easy to accesses and wide. All are gravel covered. All else is grass. Roads are gravel (and dusty). Trains are constant day and night. Restrooms and showers were clean albeit a bit of a walk. We'd stay again due to the close proximity to downtown Savannah. This is not a destination resort campground but is a good stop over for a few days. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

While this was a nice RV park for our purposes, it is not an RV resort. The sites are spacious and access is good if you are not adverse to driving over grass (it seems solid even after rain). Plan on using your own facilities if you don't want to drive to the showers, laundry or fitness center. Make your reservations over the phone, drive directly to your site, and the manager will catch up with you sooner or later. There is train noise, but it didn't bother us with the windows closed. The park is overpriced, considering the facilities provided. Even with these shortcomings we would still stay here again because if the close proximity to downtown Savannah. This is a tough park to review. The setting is very nice and conveniently close to downtown Savannah. However, right now the park is very much a work in progress. They are still setting up additional sites, the swimming pool is closed until further notice. (They hope to have it open by next summer if it doesn't cost them too much to repair.) The restrooms are semi-clean, but dingy looking. There is only one washer and dryer in the laundry and they cost $2 each. The other reviews are correct about the dust from the gravel road, and how far it is to the laundry, fitness center and bathhouse. We stayed here a week and the daily rate is based on our weekly rate. Overall, the park is vastly overpriced right now for what you get. They should be charging in the $25/day rate based upon our experiences in other parks around the country. I would want to see what improvements they make over the next year before staying here again at their current daily/weekly rate. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

An open campground with E/W/S sites situated in a semi circle. There is a lovely large clubhouse. Wi-Fi is available at sites closest to the clubhouse. At $45 a night it is overpriced, but it is close to downtown Savannah which is only an 8 minute drive. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a field that has a few sites installed around the perimeter. The staff is friendly, but unavailable after 5pm. The pool could not be used as it had not been certified by the health department. This was a bit strange given it was late in the summer. We did discover the out houses, but not the showers. I assume they were there, we just didn't find them or look too hard to find them. The gravel road coming in will raise a lot of dust, so don't keep your windows open. Other than being convenient to downtown Savannah, I don't see this place as having much value for the price they charge. I won't be staying here again, at least not at this price for what you get. Very easy access to Savannah, and to your site from entrance. The main campsite area consists of a large field with campsites on 2 sides. There is a cute, clean little restroom close to those sites (made to look like an outhouse, but is a real bathroom). Other facilities are very far away. You have to walk down a dirt road to the Pool (which was closed), shower house, bathroom and laundry, all of which were clean (we did not use, as we have all that). We just went looking for this, as no one tells you anything! This is a pretty setting...walk down another back road leads to gorgeous home on Lake, with another pretty home site before you reach the main one. It could be very nice RV park, but very confusing when you arrive, as there is no office and no information given out as to where everything is located. Someone just came out of the little store located just inside the gate, called via cell phone, then a few minutes later a young man arrived and led us to our site. There were 2 dumpsters at the opposite end of the field where we were parked. We noted that there were a few shaded sites in a remote area beyond the field where several motorhomes were parked. This was a very expensive park, and not well run. It has potential for being a very nice park, but needs someone with vision to make that happen. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
