Stayed two nights in space 42. A FHU Pull through site near the front of the park. OTA and Cell was fine, and there was some cable provided (DISH did not work due to trees). Plenty of nice hikes and bike rides through the Spanish Moss covered trees and out to the Marshes. Good bird watching. There is also a nice interpretive nature center with a great birding window. Only ding is their refusal to let anyone check in even a little early. We got there 30 minutes early and had to wait around... We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Motorhome.

This is an interesting park. It is one of the most beautiful parks I have seen. The sites are spacious and well shaded. The roads are not so nice. They are more like alleys with trees very close. Some of the turns to get into a site are very difficult. There are a variety of options: back in, pull through, 30 amps, 50 amps, sewer, it depends what section you chose. The hiking trails are well marked. There is a Kroger about 2 miles from the park entrance. Not a lot of lights at night which is nice. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

State park campgrounds can vary a lot, but this one has a lot of recent updates. Sites are a spaced well, though there are limited trees/vegetation between sites so not much on privacy in that sense. Most sites seem to be W/E, but there are a few loong pulltroughs with full hookups. The roads are pretty easy to navigate though there are a number of trees right along curves in the road. Bathrooms are in good condition, with one that has been renovated quite recently. Nice park overall with good proximity to Savannah, which is why they can get away with charging a pretty high rate for a state park. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Motorhome.

This park has a very peaceful feel to it. The sites are huge and private. It's very shady but there's enough sunlight throughout the park to not feel like you're camping in a cave. Full hookups with 50 amp and easy to navigate. Level sites and strong power. Cable tv is so rare in a State Park but this has it. Used the hotspots for internet w/out any issue. ATT (7mb d/l) and Verizon (10mb d/l) without a booster. Bathrooms were a bit dated but clean. I didn't check out the showers. There's lots to do here. Savannah is very close and the park itself has miles of hiking trails. It's a dog friendly area with lots of nice walking opportunities. They have well placed free dog bags and trash cans in convenient locations. There's a nice laundromat 20 minutes away (Suds) with plenty of large and clean machines. Suds is overpriced though. Shopping is very convenient with everything you could need within 15 minutes. The only negative I want to mention is the check in time is 1pm. We showed up at 12:47 and the man at the desk decided to make a point of 13 minutes and not allow us to check in. It seemed a bit petty. Besides that, there was nothing that could be improved here. It's a wonderful relaxing place. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Motorhome.

The only reason I am not giving this a 10 is the roads are tight for the 41' and Dually. Our site was pull through #23. Lots of room for TV and fifth wheel. Beautiful mossy Oaks. Clean restroom with laundry. We did not get to see the marsh trail. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful campground!! Only a handful of full h/u sites, so book well in advance if that's what you need. Very large sites with beautiful foliage. Sites are laid out well and not just in rows. Park itself offers lots of fun things to do, and Savannah is a great city to explore. Will definitely return! We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Outstanding! Two long trails and a short one. About 7 miles total. Lots to see along those trails. day park with playground. The loops are paved, some sites gravel (with sewer) most packed sand. 50/30/20 amp, level and shaded. All sites have a packed sand tent platform, picnic table, cable tv. Bath houses are clean, well maintained. Staff is friendly and helpful. Loop roads are a little narrow, but easily navigated. Great for biking. All sites are pull-through except five back-ins. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Motorhome.

Hike the trails. Shopping close by. Close to Savannah. Plan on a long day to tour it properly - take the trolley for convenience. Tybee Island is another must see place. Light house, beach, neat residential areas and funky downtown. Visit Fort Pulaski on the in or out.

Excellent campground!! As others have noted not a lot to do on park, but a great place for doing the tourist thing in Savannah! Sites well maintained, level and large. Premium sites have sewer connection. At the time of our visit the closest restroom was being rebuilt, so didn't use. Looks like a major upgrade being done. As many reviewers have noted, this park has amazing lot spaces. Each camp section was equally as good as the others, with large lots, a balance of shade and sun, and a great deal of privacy. At $42 a night there weren't any real amenities, however the park was clean, quiet and well maintained. The walking trails were flat, cleared and beautiful. Even though I was advised over the phone that the park honored disabled military veterans discounts, when I arrived they stated I was misinformed and they only provided reduced rates for Georgia disabled veterans. While most of the staff were friendly, the lady at the check in booth was always busy looking at her phone and never looked up to see incoming vehicles and seemed bothered by having to answer questions. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Motorhome.

Skidaway Island is one of the premier Georgia State Parks. It is located on posh Skidaway Island and surrounded by a rather affluent suburb of Savannah. The park is very nice and the majority of the sites are very large. As you get towards the back of the park, the sites get smaller and seem more overgrown and not as well maintained. However, the newest bathroom is at the rear. When we were there, one bathroom was closed and being completely remodeled. The front bath was very old and needed work but it still had hot water, the toilets worked just fine and the laundry facilities worked well. It is apparently the next one to be remodeled. Skidaway is very quiet at night. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a Publix very close to the left when you exit the park as well as two really good churches right at the entrance. Savannah is close and there is lots to do there. Also check out Lucky Supermarket for the best bacon in the world!! Castaways Restaurant is excellent and the Wormsloe Plantation was very interesting.

This park did not live up to our expectations based on other reviews. Paved campground roads were VERY narrow, with trees very close on both sides and some low clearances. Dirt-sand-leaf-covered, pull-out, not pull-thru, W/E sites would have been a mess if it had rained the 2 nights we were there. The nearest restroom-shower building was closed and being rebuilt, with constant contractor noise during daytime and an overflowing, construction debris-filled dumpster right outside our window. The poorly maintained washers and dryers were located at the restroom buildings, but were outside in the weather. The island itself is completely filled by gated residential resorts except for the very small state park enclave, so there is nothing to see locally except inside the park. Our site was definitely not worth $36.50/night, even with the $8/night senior discount. If we were to camp near Savannah again, we would stay in a private RV park on Tybee Island, where we really enjoyed visiting the very well-presented historic lighthouse and two forts. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
