The staff was very friendly and check in was easy. We stayed in trail C site 18 and had know problems with the road or getting our camper in the site. This site was very muddy and desperately needed gravel added to it. Trails F,C, and E are all large enough for a bigger camper. The restrooms are outdated but keep very clean. The campground in general is very nice with views throughout of the lake and Stone Mountain. It is a bit over priced for the condition of the park, but overall a nice place to camp. Most of the activities in the park require additional money. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Hike the Cherokee trail, great trail going around the mountain with great views. If you like BBQ eat at Fox Brothers in Atlanta. Best ribs I have ever had.

Nice place to stay when visiting Atlanta. Higher priced sites recommended located on the top level. We stayed in a "mid range" full hookup 50 amp site in "L" loop. Some of these are hard to enter and egress when sites are full with campers and vehicles. Some asphalt is broken and not level and are shorter than they say. Good WiFi and cable with nice store. Fire rings and table at each site. Beautiful lake and much to see at Stone Mountain. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Store personnel lukewarm to customers. I picked up a whole bag of trash from the site upon arrival. Lots of litter that had been there awhile as well as some fresh stuff also like a aluminum bake pan. As we looked at other sites for a future stay, also noted lots of litter on them also. At one site we turned on water spigot to fill up our dog bowl as we were walking him, and the bowl filled with muddy water. Just be aware need to flush pipes before connecting to your rv. Our site was spacious and had a great view. However configuration of fire pits meant we enjoyed seeing and hearing every word of our neighbors as they enjoyed their pit only feet away. Site was large enough to completely park toad in front of 45' RV. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

I didn't like that we had to pay the park entry fee just to get to the campground within, but that's just the method, I guess. Once in, you have a free pass to go in and out as you please with no additional fee. The park is nice, very much like a state park. Our site in particular needed some repair and caused us to park rather awkwardly as a result, but due to the time of year was not a big deal. You get all of the park amenities (climb the rock!) with your campground stay. You do not get the "amusement" park, though. The rive from the park to downtown Atlanta is rather cumbersome especially considering the traffic. But, it makes for a very nice retreat after visiting Atlanta. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed a few nights. Great location. The campground needs some work. Interior roads and sites are in need of repair. The highly desired F loop is a safe bet, other loops could be a challenge for larger RVs, low ground clearance, tight turns, leveling in the site etc. We would return for the location itself. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

The entire campground was filled due to the Highland Games and pumpkin festival. That made wi-fi very sporadic. Otherwise it was perfect! We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Big rig friendly with large sites but our site was not level. Showers and laundry was good. Cable was good but Wi-Fi was not very good. There was no dog park but easy to walk along the roads in the campground. This was Halloween weekend so we rode hay ride, decorated pumpkin, roasted marshmallows - all free activities. The Sunday morning campground church service was good. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

This campground is located in Stone Mountain. The walk to the top of the mountain was just a mile but strenuous. The view made the walk worthwhile. The activities were open on Saturday only due to the season. You can take a free shutter to the marketplace and laser show. Atlanta is about 20 minute drive. Walmart was 2 miles.

As mentioned in other reviews, the Premium sites near the office (F, C and E Trails) are in good shape with mostly level sites of packed gravel with curbs. The other loops are indeed in need of some repair. The roads are broken-up and many of the sites have broken pavement, narrow and not very level. The website recommends you use the on-line system for reservations (with a $5 service charge). When I made my reservation the site only showed three sites available, however when I arrived the park was not close to full and many of the sites in the Red area were open. The office staff said that it is better to call for reservations because the on-line site doesn't "update" so it won't show all the open sites. The campground is convenient for trips to Stone Mountain Park and you can get a two day pass for the same price as a one day. Lots of roads in the campground to walk on. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Very convenient to the park and nearby Stone Mountain Village.

Two things kept this great park from a 10. First, paying an entrance fee to access the campground is highway robbery and in that vein, no reentry lane. You wait while those ahead of you get their entrance passes. Second, the WiFi is horribly spotty. In fairness, I think the problem is too much streaming. Sometimes it connected immediately and other times it took 3-4 minutes to display a page. Beyond that, the CG is great. Wooded, good hookups, lakeside sites (mine was 340). They referred to them as trails, but loops works too. Roads in the trails need a lot of work and lastly, many of the sites are not level to the point of being totally unable to come close. Mine was OK, just one orange block to level, but some were 5-8 degrees off level. I would definitely stay here again in my motorhome. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

This campground is geared towards people who are using the other entertainment in the area. If you use their reservation system then you have the opportunity to select your campsite. This is a huge camp. If you select your site and you can choose from primitive to the top luxury size available. the reservation people stress using the main gate to avoid low overpass.

The park is operated by a company called Hershand Family Entertainment. I think they operate Dollywood and part Branson. I think this place is leased to Hershand. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Enjoy the area. Read about the place first. It is not for everyone.

We were traveling in a 45' rv. Streets can be narrow. They put us on L area with lake view. Nice level gravel lot with plenty of room for our slides. There was trash in the fire pit and the BBQ was quite dirty. There was a patio with picnic table. Too many trees for satellite but cable was fine. Wifi very poor at our site. Not much in the way of walking trails at the campground but tons of area to walk after a short drive. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The stone mountain area is a little confusing. Maps were very poor and did not show everything in the area. We walked down stone mountain but got lost trying to find our car in the lot to take the tram up. Totally different area about a mile away. For some reason most kiosk were closed for drinks and ice cream and it was 90 degrees on a Sunday in July.

Do not trust your GPS to find this one. We ended up on a narrow two-lane road and had to literally scrape under a low bridge. We eventually ended up in the parking lot of the park where we did not belong. Thank God a nice police officer found us and led us to the actual campground (several miles away). That's when we found out that we had to pay a $15 admission fee even though we only wanted a site where we could stay overnight. Luckily, they accepted our Passport America card so it only cost us $17.50 to stay (plus the $15).

Our site was in a very wooded area above the lake, which was very pretty. The night we stayed had a fireworks show so we weren't able to go the bed until after the booms stopped.

We were told we had cable hookup at our site. That turned out to be untrue, but OTA reception was fine so no problem. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a very pretty park, but the price you pay for the site is for location to Stone Mountain facilities. The field and office staffs were excellent. When you get to the park, the access roads are very narrow and rough. Once you get to the site, besides a narrow road, but they were very tight and not level. Some people couldn't get their rigs level and had to move to another if one was available. Because of the pines, you couldn't get satellite, but they had good cable. For what you get, I think the price is high. We but wouldn't stay here again. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

It is a good place to stay to visit Stone Mountain area.

The park has nice surroundings and is within a very hilly area in the Atlanta area. The park is within the Stone Mountain amusement park and has a very nice drive to the parking area from the roadway. Unfortunately, because of the hilly / mountain surroundings some of the parking can be very difficult to get into and most are back in spots as well. If you have a trailer or tow dolly, I would suggest providing this information when checking in and possibly even ask to see the parking spot they have selected for you before you drive your rig to it. The driveways and parking areas can be tight and the angle you may have to maneuver may not be to your liking if you don't check it our first in their golf cart or your car/truck. There is very little choice regarding quality RV parks in the Atlanta area and this one is well taken care of. Power and water is good Wifi connections were so-so. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

The staff is friendly and the utilities worked fine (water pressure is low). That is the good.

We have stayed in this park 3 times in the past. Each time was a little bit worse than the previous one. This time our site had large dips (not level), needed more gravel on the pad site and was a complete mud pit in the non gravel area. The park needs to admit that they do not have grass in certain areas within a site (sites have lots of low areas) and they need to place gravel or mulch at the sites. The outside area of our coach was totally unusable for 7 days!

We will not return again. Way too much money for such a poor site. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.
