Very nice park and setting. Heavily treed with sites tucked in the woods. Our site was tight and close to neighbors and had barely enough room for our tow vehicle. The park itself was full and busy, check in was a breeze. Have to pay $15 entry fee on top of the campground rate. We used this as a base to see things in the area, its a little on the outskirts of Atlanta but not any nice options we could find in town. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

We loved staying in this park, but there are improvements that need to be made. We stayed in two lots - 348A and 3. Both had pros and cons. We loved staying here for the most part.

348A was great for privacy and was HUGE. We needed some rest and relaxation and it was great for that. However, don't think of using Direct TV here. It won't work. It was great for the big rig except for tree branches.

3 was great to meet other people and we enjoyed it more there. Again, huge lot.

This park is more enjoyable during the weekdays than weekends. During weekends you get a lot of "weekenders" who don't understand basic politeness in camping. You won't meet friendly people on the weekends.

There are some loops where the pavement is almost gone and pretty hilly. Stick to Orange or Purple loops, with exception of Red 348A which is off the main road and very easy to get in/out.

The worst part is coming/going from the park. You pay one $15 fee to get in and you get a pass. That said, if you leave and only one booth is open, you have to wait...and wait...and wait to enter the park.

The fireworks got old. Skip the lasershow and "dinner" that is basically an overpriced picnic.

That said, for being so close to Atlanta, this was a great park. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The booths are kind of tight for a big rig for entry to the park. Stay away from pull throughs which honestly are more trouble than they are worth and aren't well-paved. Avoid the lasershow/fireworks.

There are not any good RV campgrounds convenient to Atlanta. This campground is the best in the area. The campground is located within Stone Mountain Resort so you have a one time $15 entrance fee. The campground is in a hilly wooded area next to a lake. Roads are paved but sites are narrow gravel with a little grass or space between sites. Most sites are reasonably level but can not access satellite. Cable is basic. Trash is picked up at your site. WiFi is a joke - I could only get email but no internet or video. Verizon cell only had one bar so you are basically off the grid staying here. The utility stations are next to the road so I had to use three hoses to get to the sewer connection and use long cable, power and water lines. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Original site was not able to accommodate our 34' trailer due to downhill slope. Provided alternative which was on one of the main roads. I was disappointed in the sites based on the price. Unless you were on a premium site, some of them were not level and were fairly rough sites for the amount paid for each site. The office personnel were also not very accommodating when I told them about the original site (295) and how it would not accommodate a trailer more than 30' due to the downhill slope of the site. I asked about a site that was right across from my original site but was told it was unavailable however; there was no one on it the entire time we were there. The restrooms were clean but very hot. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

There isn't much around Atlanta. You have to pay a one time $15 entry fee to the park so staying overnight becomes more expensive. Wi-Fi was never found by us. Cable was pretty basic. Sites are rough and not level. We had to use chocks. If you are just needing an overnight and aren't going to use the park entertainments, you might want to plan to get away from Atlanta area before you stop. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Very nice park and a good place to see Stone Mountain and the other activities in Atlanta. Full hookups, but the wifi didn't work at all. Nice spacious sites with lots of trees and shade. Didn't feel like you were camping in Atlanta! There is a one time $15 charge to enter the park, but this includes your access to Stone Mountain park. Great place to use as a home base to see Atlanta. Very woodsy park which was a surprise that close to Atlanta. We camped in a 40 ft RV with 4 slides. Sites are generous in size. Ground was soft and we had to use wood under the jacks. We didn't use WIFI as our Verizon worked fine. Access in and out of the park was easy. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Sites vary a lot in size, width, level, etc. The pull-thru we reserved was not level. We had to try three more before finding something we could fit our 44' bus into. Sites have gravel pads surrounded by trees, undergrowth and packed dirt. Getting around the driveways was not easy since trees are close and driveways dip and turn.
The location is great for visiting Atlanta and exploring the park. Wifi was sporadic, but hotspot worked okay. Did not use any of the facilities. Staff was efficient and helpful. Would definitely go back again. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

We loved the park and everything it had to offer. It was very clean with excellent restroom facilities. The staff was nice and went out of the way to make sure we were enjoying our stay. The pool is nice with a good recreation area next to it with a playground, horseshoes and field to play ball. The other attractions in the other areas of the park were great. We never left the park the entire time we stayed there. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Tent.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this park. Level gravel pad. Decent size. Older but clean and well maintained bathrooms. Loved the views. Preferred the premium loop to the others. Lots to do without ever leaving the park. Good wifi strength, but slow speed. Decent cell signal. Friendly staff. Would probably not stay next to bath house again as we had a LOT of cut through traffic from the tent sites. We will definitely return. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Rate includes $15 entrance fee. PA rate was $23.50 for our site. The site was a "pull-thru" which was actually a "pull-over" site. It was not very level and had a gravel/red mud surface. The access road to the sit was very "lumpy" with bulges in the pavement. We only used the electric hook-up, which was several feet from our unit when we got into the site. We're still looking for a decent park near Atlanta. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

stayed in older loop L which is nice. Grill, table and fire ring at each site. Very wooded site with a great view of the lake. Restrooms are outdated but are very clean. Check-in was easy and quick, staff were pleasant. Cable, power and water were all good. Not a lot of options in Atlanta but this is a great park. The only negative is having to pay the park entrance fee to camp in campground. This is our 3rd stay in this campground would stay again. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Place has several levels of available sites. We chose one with water & elec. Paved drive thru site but pavement was very rough & had to wiggle a bit to find exact parking spot to level and reach hookups. Shady & near lake. Convenient to attractions in Stone Mountain Park. Dump sites convenient along road to exit. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Easy access and check in. You have to pay the entrance fee to get it on the first day even if you are camping. Site was reasonably level but very tight. Difficult to find space for our towed car. Quiet place and nice view of lake. Expensive but you are paying for the location. I would stay again because there is not much else to choose form in this area. Otherwise I would look elsewhere.
