The road into our site was narrow but acceptable. The road itself was a mess - potholes and crumbling edges. Our site was level but because the road was so narrow we had to ask a fellow camper to move his truck so we could back in, and he was off the road. We saw this happen time and time again as the campground filled up. Our site looked like it had not been attended to in weeks and there was litter around it and a bag of garbage at the back. On our way out we encountered a pot hole almost the size of my towed vehicle, and because it was uphill I was tossing chunks behind me. For the price we paid we expected the quality to be a lot higher and were very disappointed. On the positive we enjoyed talking with our fellow campers. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

The park is convenient to Atlanta, but I don't think it's worth the price. Roads are narrow, our site was a little difficult to get into as it was a "blind side" back-in. Cable kept going out. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed here four nights while visiting Atlanta. There is only one way in and out of this very large park and you always end up on Route 78 which isn't so bad as it will get you to 285 or directly into the city. Our site was very spacious with a separate wooden patio with a picnic table and a propane BBQ. We arrived on a Saturday and the campground was very full but by Wednesday it had emptied out almost completely empty. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Enjoyed the stay, no real issues with the exception that my site (141) was relative narrow compared to the rest. Once I saw the site I asked if I could move and was informed they were at capacity and there would be a fee for moving. The next day I was told they were not at capacity and there would be no fee if I would like to move. Seemed to be a little bit of a disconnect . Quite, clean, and from what I observed well maintained. Wish they had a dog run area. We will be going back. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Phone reservation system sucks. Spent a total of 2 hours on hold to make reservations and try to get their special package deal. Website almost worthless as it wouldn't let me make reservations but told me to call. At check-in there was a line of people almost out the door because there was only one person working. It appeared that there was a supervisor in the back room but never came out to help. Roads narrow and deteriorated with trees that need trimming. Park entrance station extremely narrow. You have to pay an extra $15 to get to your campsite where it should be part of your campsite fee. Campsite is almost all dirt as the gravel has sunk in the mud. With the slight rain we had my RV is filthy from mud splashing up on it and all my hoses need to be washed now. Park rules not enforced. Campsites with trash all around. Dogs barking. Dogs not on leash. And I had a premium site! I guess it like this because it's the only park in town, no competition. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

The campground is scenic and easy to access. Some of the sites are small but if you make your reservations by phone, the staff will help you to choose a good site. They are friendly and very anxious to be helpful. The entertainment features at the park are numerous, much more than I remembered from 20 years ago. We should have stayed there for two full days to do everything my grandkids wanted to do. We had fun. Campsites are very well shaded and convenient to park shuttle buses. I look forward to returning. Tips for other Campers:

Being near Atlanta, there is no limit to entertainment, shopping, and restaurants. The mistake we made was not having enough time to see everything within the Stone Mountain Park. Our grandchildren did not want to leave. I am looking forward to taking them back.

My first gotcha was the the wi-fi did not work on the first street from the office. The second was the cable signal had so much static on the lower channels that they were almost unwatchable. They need to cut down some trees at the entrance to the campsites as they a bitch to get around. The sites need to be lengthened as some motor homes when parked had there noses at the edge of the street. Plus their toad parked on the edge of the street created a hazard to some one trying to get in across from them. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a great place to stay while playing in Stone Mountain Park and probably a good base for exploring Atlanta, although we did not leave the park during our stay. The roads are crumbling and need to be resurfaced, it small ways the RV Park shows a tight state budget. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The turns of the roads were tight for us (27ft. Class C) so the big rigs had to be very careful. We had a nice view of the lake without paying the extra for the 'lakeside' spot. There is a very convenient shuttle bus that goes to the main attractions and the nightly Laser Show. It is possible to spend your whole time in Stone Mountain without a vehicle.

This review could be way over the word limit due to the bad taste in our mouths, but I'll keep it short as I can. We really wanted to enjoy our stay at this park. We booked for 4 nights and were looking forward to a nice relaxing vacation. The location of this campground is fantastic. In the hills of Georgia and wrapped around the side of a nice peaceful lake. There are lots of little things to see inside the park and lots of good hiking. It's a very large campground with 400+ sites, but each area was about the same as any other campground so it did not feel especially large unless you go from one end to the other.

To sum up the very long list of things that are NOT good about this campground: *Poorly, dangerously maintained roads. *Some sites that are so unlevel that nothing short of a lumberyard could level your trailer. *Office staff that have no clue what they are doing here. *Old, poorly cleaned wash houses. *Extra $15 fee to "park." *Sewage hookup on site that could not handle the flow of a normal tank dump, which lead to a disgusting overflow problem. *Sites crammed up against one another.

Anyway, we won't be going back. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This aging state park is in a beautiful setting and has a lot to offer for adult and family entertainment. However, the cheaper sites for rvs have bad roads and unlevel sites. The upscale sites are in better shape, have more amenities and open sky for satellite reception. The older restrooms/showers are not well attended. Laundry facilities are worn and ill kept. Wifi is free but so slow it is unusable unless you use it when everyone is sleeping. This is a good place to stay while visiting the many attractions Atlanta has to offer. The Commons Restaurant managed by Marriott is in a beautiful setting and has excellent food. We enjoyed our stay here under the trees. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

This could be a very nice campground if the service was greatly improved. Phone calls leave a caller on hold up to 1 hour for a reservation, check in lines are long and very slow. Check-in people are not friendly (probably overworked). The cg is very spread out and many different loops which leaves newcomers confused on where their site is. For the amount of money they charge, they need to provide an escort service. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Park was packed as it was spring break - pretty remote even though we had thought it was in the city - long drive to a grocery store - site was gravel and a back in site - at $51 dollars a day was not a bargain - park was nice but a lot of the attractions were an added charge We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

The site we had was very narrow but we did have a nice lake side site with a wooden deck and grill. We had 50 amp service but almost everyday the breaker blew and we had to reset all our electronics. Our neighbors fire pit was set up right under our bedroom slideout. Fortunately he had no problem moving it to the back of his camper. The wifi was terribly slow, so slow that it was unusable. Cable was good. Stime Mountain park is huge and great for a lenghty stay if you get the right site. We would stay again. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
