Our second ever campground experience, and wow, is it different from our expectations. It is nestled in a corner of nowhere, up and down a winding road from Dahlonega, 15 miles past Suches, which is a spot in the road. But, this place is quiet and very unusual. The hosts are very accommodating and friendly. The campground has two full, stocked kitchens that campers can use at no charge. They rely on honor jars for supplies used. There is a big screen TV with Dish in the club house. Also, games to play, fishing in the stream down from an early 1800s grist mill (yes, you can catch your dinner), well kept grounds, and shower house with supplied toiletries and towels There is coffee in the clubhouse in the morning. These are all pluses. Oh yes, there are two each guineas, turkeys, and bantams running about. The sites require some leveling, and with heavy rain, can get a little soggy. Gravel roads, grassy pads. Cell phone is nil, but Wi-Fi is free; athough, not very fast at times. We would do it again. Nice base to see surrounding area if you like to drive the mountain roads. We camped at Skeenah Creek Campground in a Motorhome.

A quiet and relaxing place, a good place to take a book to read down by the stream or beside the mill lake. I caught rainbow trout in the stream beside my campsite. They have a large community room with a great view of the old mill, the community room has a complete kitchen with refrigerator and freezer for campers' use. Restrooms were all clean. Managers were very friendly and went out of their way, even setting up an awning for outdoor cooking in the rain. Call for best route to camp if pulling a large trailer. We camped at Skeenah Creek Campground in a Tent.

This has to be the boring-est place in the world to camp, absolutely nothing to do but sit in the campground. We camped at Skeenah Creek Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This Park is hardly ever packed. Hostess is very friendly, she stays busy. The restroom and bathhouse is extremely clean, and I am particular about restrooms. There is a creek you can fish from, however most usually go down the road for trout fishing. We like to go here because it is quiet and we get full hook-up, which is not available at the State Park. We used to camp by tent at the State Park, but with the RV it is much easier to go to Skeenah. There is a lot of shade, and kids had room to run as well. The Hostess is always available to help. She really made the stay easy. Campfire wood is sold at the site for very little, which is a big plus it saves on weight when towing, one less thing to bring. The cons, the wifi signal is not always available and isn't strong, however, we are there to fish not surf the net. We camped at Skeenah Creek Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This campground is mostly known by bikers because of the curvy roads nearby. The owners of

this campground are some of the nicest people we have dealt with in our first year of RV'ing. Georgia had heavy rains in June 2004 and the owner had just added gravel to all his sites in the park. Unfortunately for us, we did not know which way to turn into the park and ended up sliding our truck and 5th wheel down an embankment. He rescued us not once, but twice from our mistakes in the soft earth, and would not accept anything from us for his trouble. All sites in the park can be pulled through from either direction. So if you are camping with friends or family, you can set up facing each other. There is a small stream (Skeenah Gap) on the property and an old mill that they are restoring. Pets are welcome and there is a $2.50 charge for extra people. Campground is closed in Winter. Most sites had a picnic table, if yours did not, they would bring one to you. Most sites had fire rings. There is a pavilion and grill for groups next to stream. No playgrounds or BBall court, but kids are not shooed away like at other parks. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Skeenah Creek Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
