Beautiful area. Signs marking entry are deceiving - the entrance is well before the signs. Most sites are not level. There are a few picnic tables and benches, but not one to each site. Dogs run loose, and no poop pick up. Water pressure is good. It's worth about $25-30 per night. The place is currently for sale; hopefully someone will buy it and improve it. It has a lot of potential, but isn't in great shape right now. I would not recommend it. We camped at Wildcat Lodge and Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Nightly rate is based on a week's stay. This is a quiet, rustic, no frills park with back-in sites on a hill that give good views. The host is a real nice guy. Campground is about 10 miles west of Suches and 20 miles east of Morganton. If you have a large coach, Rt 60 can be very nerve racking after a long day of driving. It has a LOT of curves, some of them blind curves. I came in from the east (Suches) and went out toward the west (Morganton). The eastern side is worse; narrower road, no shoulder, and older road surface until you get several miles west of Suches. Good thing 60 is light on traffic during the week. Wifi was adequate for email and Facebook, but no streaming. No antenna tv and no cable. If you need tv, you need to have a satellite. Very good water pressure. If you're a motorcyclist, this is a good place to stay. Great motorcycling blacktop roads and forest service roads for dual sport riders. No fenced dog area, but there is lots of room to walk your dog, just remember to pick up after them. Showers are not too close to RV or tent sites. Wildcat Store/diner was closed during our stay. Nearest Walmart seems to be in Ellijay or Blueridge. My TomTom put me on a forest service road to get back to the park from Murphy, NC, despite me telling it to avoid unpaved roads. GPS' don't know what is paved and what is not and you could end up in the woods. We camped at Wildcat Lodge and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Helen, Ga is a neat place to visit. Nearest gas station is 5 miles west, but pumps are open only when store is open. Morganton (20 miles west) has a gas station with 24 hr credit card pumps. Station in Suches was out of business, but may re-open.

Overall Rating:

We were here for three months. The camp staff are among the friendliest people I have ever met. There are two fishing ponds on the premises and quality trout fishing nearby. I imagine there are quality hunting opportunities nearby also. With two of the major activities being hunting and fishing the other two have to be hiking and motorcycle riding. Many trails in the local area as well as many waterfalls and world class motorcycle roads. Other than that the attraction to Wildcat is peace and quiet. It's 20 miles to the nearest grocery store so plan ahead. We camped at Wildcat Lodge and Campground in a Motorhome.
