Roads are narrow but in good shape with no sharp turns. Trees well trimmed. Sites are pretty close to one another. Some sites pretty unlevel but workable. Power ok. Wifi mostly very good. Cable, some channels good, others bad. We camped at River's End Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.
About 16 miles from Savannah. Nice beaches.

This campground was recommended to us. We were placed in a site that seemed to be all permanent setups, specifically next to one very poorly maintained travel trailer with an incredibly nice couple living in it. The campground itself is a little tight, but I'm 53 ft bumper to bumper and I made it work without too much work. The campground was quiet at night, and was a 7 minute quick walk to the beach! The island had many fun things to do, which made this campground a great choice. Driving through downtown Savannah to get to Tybee should be avoided at all costs if possible because the lanes are narrow, with huge trees very close to the passenger side of the vehicle, and oncoming 18 wheelers in the inner middle lanes with no dividers. We ate at a place very close to the campground called Cocos and it was the best seafood I've had in a long time. The site was level, the specific area we were was all gravel (but not the whole campground), I didn't use the pool, bathhouses, or any other facilities on the property. There was a dog park being built next door. The police station is 2 minute walk away from the campground. Many sites were shaded.Overall the campground was nice, and the location was perfect for us. Nice campground right on Tybee Island. Lots to see right on the island and Savannah is close by. Parking fees everywhere on the island and in Savannah. Sites are a bit close on crushed stone. From what we could see about 50% are not very level...ours wasn't. Laundry was clean and all machines seemed to be in working order. $2.75 for wash and $2.00 to dry, so I only did one load to get us by. Campfires permitted - buy wood from them to prevent diseases or bugs. We would camp here again. We camped at River's End Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.Undo

Camped in 45 foot motor home. Drive to park from I-16 takes you through downtown with some low tree limbs. If your rig is tall, be careful to pick the highest clearance lane. Also, the four lanes are tight, but doable. The 15 miles on the Island Expressway is easy. If your rig is long, suggest you unhook toad before entering the park. We stayed in a more expensive premium site. Interior roads are paved. Sites and drives are crushed shell. Your neighbor will be close. All utilities worked great. Satellite TV was no problem from our site. Verizon cell had 5 bars. Free park Wi-Fi was very fast at all times. There are some shaded sites, if you desire. River's End Campground on Tybee Island was nice and very quiet. Roads are paved, sites are crushed stone. Many sites will accommodate the largest rigs with pull through ease. There is quite a bit of shade even though our satellite was able to lock on easily. The sites were laid out in an esthetically pleasing arrangement, not just all in several long lines. The pool looks nice although we did not try it out. We stayed shortly after school had started back up, so it might be busier before then, but when we were there is was not too crowded. The closest "beach" is along a river, not on the ocean. To get to the ocean beaches you must use the public beaches in town about 1/2 mile away. PAID PARKING throughout town, even on weekends and nights! I believe parking tickets may be a significant revenue stream for the town. Approx. 12 mile drive past Savannah through the marshes to Tybee Island. This is a pleasant drive although it could get congested in a hurry during "rush hour". The biggest problem is to get there you have to pass directly through down town Savannah. With a passenger car, no problem, although somewhat congested. In a large MH with a toad, I hope you are a good driver. I did not have a problem, but I can see where some drivers would. Overall I would return for the quiet solitude we experienced while here. We really liked the campground and will probably visit again. Some of the sites are really tight. Some of the sites along the CG edge are bordered by a road with no barrier. The road is well traveled, so there is a lot of noise. Wifi is available, but I could not log onto it. Bathrooms were clean; a little old, but clean. The beach lighthouse is within walking distance. Not a pretty park. Very cramped, very crowded. We actually had one neighbor's ATV next to our picnic table. The one on the other side was less than two feet away. None of the staff even spoke until we were getting ready to leave. Location to the beach was the only good feature of this park. We camped at River's End Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.Undo

Very pretty campground with lots of palms and oaks with Spanish moss hanging. Our particular site had no trees and was crushed rock, so it was not the nicest site we've ever had, but our motorhome is 38' and wouldn't fit on some of the nicer, treed, grassy sites. But other than that we really enjoyed staying here. The Wi-Fi worked great and the laundry room was clean. There is a dog park right next door which is great. There are many things to walk to from this campground. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We camped at River's End Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.Undo

Dogs are not allowed on the beach - this applies to the entire island of Tybee. Had we known this, we never would have stayed here. This RV park is city owned and operated. There are a zillion rules that are only selectively enforced. Sites are haphazardly arranged, difficult to access, and not necessarily level. This is the noisiest park that we have ever been to - motorcycles, children (who have no real place to play), drunken partiers, and a city-sponsored wedding reception with a DJ and amplified music. Further, the park is expensive, and it is not a luxurious park. We left two days ahead of our scheduled departure - just couldn't take the noise any more. The city has a no refund policy, but takes no responsibility to make their park enjoyable. We felt cheated and will never be back. We camped at River's End Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.Undo
Date of Stay: February, 2013 - $41.00
The park was clean and the staff very helpful. We checked in after dark, and they had a person to escort us to our site. Due to a combination of low hanging trees on some roads in the park, very narrow lots, very narrow roads, people parking their toad or tow vehicle partway into the road, it is a very difficult park to maneuver in for a big rig. It took some work to finally pull into our space. Some of the spaces that are pull through, are on a side street with a good bit of traffic including garbage trucks and city maintenance trucks. If you can, get a space off of the street for a quieter stay. Two beaches are close for walking or bicycling. We camped at River's End Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.Undo

Friendly staff. Great campground in a residential area that is within walking/biking distance to the beach and lighthouse. Even the town is within biking/walking distance. Lots of restaurants and convenience stores nearby. Great place to leave your vehicle parked and use alternate transportation (walk, bike, shuttle). Shuttle into Savannah leaves hourly from the lighthouse and only costs $3. Entry roads are narrow and curvy but the staff helps you to your site and really know their stuff. Sites are close but comfortable enough. Each site has a fire ring and tree coverage. Wifi was best closer to the centre of the park but still available on the edge. We were at this camp during the annual Pirates Festival and rates were very high. The campground is city owned and well maintained. The sites are pretty jammed in and the side roads are narrow, but we did well. Great little town. See Fort Pulaski and get breakfast at the famous Breakfast Club. The Wi-Fi was very under sized for this park. It worked well at times, but was so slow to be nearly unusable during peak times. Reception was OK. We expected a lot of noise with the Festival going on, but it didn't happen. It is about 20 miles from Savannah and most of the folks are weekenders from there.
