We stayed here for four nights. Full hook up. HUGE sites. The ONLY drawback was we arrived a bit early and they made us wait in an over flow parking lot until 1:00 which was check in. We were not the only ones waiting. Silly rule but I guess a rule is a rule.
Has a nice nature center on the grounds and a Jr. Ranger for the kids to do. Brand new bath house. Laundry was convenient too. Bring your bikes to bike around. Would stay here again. - aka4170
Jul 2018 - $35.00
Beautiful park! Site was huge and well groomed. We stayed in sit 45. Hiking was great and bugs not bad. - Ajessuptrek
Jun 2018 - $40.00
The first thing we noticed about this State Park is its unique beauty. Spanish moss hanging from the trees provides a wonderful canopy of shade for a hot and steamy climate (in June). The next item that pops out at you...space! The camp sites are extremely well spaced with plenty of area on each site to move around and set up as you see fit. The roads need to be taken s-l-o-w-l-y because tree roots have pushed the asphalt up in several areas, so you could get the feeling that you were riding a bull in a rodeo if you don't slow way down. Not a major issue if you drive wisely. We stayed in an ADA site (yes, we are legally authorized) and the only issue with that site was it did not have 50 amp service. So, we were judicious about what appliances we ran and when we ran them. For experienced RVers, not a big deal. In short, we loved the park, and it made a great place to relax. It was located close to a lot of good seafood. Tybee Island is very close by as well. We will stay there again as we make our rounds. - Habu77
Jun 2018 - $54.00
It's a very nice, small and unusually set up park. Very close to Savannah. But we loved it and would stay here again! A bit pricey though. - DJanis
Jun 2018 - $49.00
Loved that sites were nicely spaced. Several small ponds, nature trail, pool, horses, goats, nice place for families. Definitely will be back. - Christine Garren
Jun 2018 - $42.00
Nice clean & quite park. Side by side parking but very adequate space between units. Short drive (15 min) to the old section of Savannah. Old Town Trolley picks up at the park office. - C Duck
May 2017 - $35.00
This is not a nice place to stay. We made reservations over the phone, but when we arrived we found it to be in a very bad part of town. The owner was very rude. They took me to my site in dirty golf cart. The site was outside of the fence next to the road with busy traffic. The sewer hook up was way in the back and there is no way we could connect unless we bought a 3rd line. We were not going to stay there.... The owner refused to refund our money. Fortunately out bank took care of that.... What ever you do... Don't make reservations without seeing this place. - Billy J H
Mar 2017 - $40.00
We had a reservation at this park but when we arrived and saw the place we decided NOT to spend the night there. It is disgusting and appears unsafe. Noisy people were hanging around outside the gate. It is not a nice park and staff doesn't really care. - C and T
Feb 2017 - $40.00
Nice quiet place to stay. Staff was helpful and pleasant. Site was level of sand and grass. Site was long and has new services. They are upgrading some sites since the last hurricane. - Dana61704
Apr 2018 - $60.00
The park is oddly laid out, but adequate site space. Roads are narrow & not designed for motor home maneuvers. Staff in office not the friendliest, actually rude at times, but I didn't need to deal with them thankfully. They guys who do the work on the grounds very friendly. - Ronzo Rig
Apr 2018 - $58.00
Only CG on Tybee Island. Interior roads are tight. The layout is very rambling which leads to different spacing for different sites, even those adjacent to each other. The back-ins seemed to provide the most space, although it was not much more. Very clean and all interactions with the staff were great. Close to the beach, and ~20 minutes to Savannah. - GA Bob
Apr 2018 - $75.00
Nice site. Little tight but well shaded. Staff were friendly. - Ajessuptrek

This park could be a nice park, but it seems to have no one keeping up with it. They were closed Tuesday and Wednesday so we arrived Tuesday with no one to tell us anything and no warning for that to happen. We never did receive the WiFi password. Our site was also covered in broken glass and ant piles and they hadn't mowed in a long time. The area was so nice that if they just managed it, it'd be amazing. The sites are spacious and with the trees it could be beautiful. It's very close to everything too. - Twintravelers
Mar 2018 - $20.00
This park is a great place to stay while visiting Savannah if you don't need any additional accommodations, restrooms, showers, playground, etc. It was not well maintained, but a great place to park our trailer. - ranic59
Nov 2016 - $18.00
Lotts Island Army Airfield Campground is an okay stopping over point, but it certainly is not a resort! The sites have no logical layout and our site, #8, was almost impossible to get in to. There are 2 trees at the entrance to the site and a permanent or semi-permanent 5th wheel parked exactly across from the entrance to the site. We have a 38' Bighorn and it took about 45 minutes to maneuver our way in.
It was clean without garbage or "stuff" but there was some branches and brush. To be fair, it is fall and hurricane Matthew was only a few weeks ago. We never saw any campground maintenance people.
The park is quiet and we saw some wildlife (deer & raccoons). A little road noise from Abercorn Rd. Our yard was very large and comfortable. The road through the campground is gravel and not laid out well, but a big rig would certainly be okay. There is no cable and sketchy internet that is very slow. However, Verizon cell signal was strong.
It is very close to WalMart, Kroger, restaurants galore and just about anything else you might want.
We would stay there again - just not for an extended time. - jomark
Mar 2017 - $11.00
We stayed here for 5 weeks, and I must say this park was wonderful. Simple, clean, quiet, and convienent. We bring our 5th wheel when we work in the Savannah area, and this is the 4th campground we have stayed in. We will never stay anywhere else. We were 10-15 min from downtown Savannah, and 20-30 min from Hilton Head. I felt safe because it was a gated community and everyone was very friendly. They provide cable and WIFI. The office lady was ALWAYS a phone call away, and honestly at the campground most of the time. We were sad to leave Bellinger Hill/ Len Thomas, and are already looking forward to wording there again. - -G-
Sep 2016 - $11.00
(This was a monthly stay so I just divided by 30) was 350 per month and this included the WI-FI, cable, water and garbage. Electric ran about 15.00 per month. Propane was delivered. Extra secure as it had a gated community. Also had a clean laundry room with good machines (not expensive), ice and soda machine. 15 minutes to Savannah and 20ish to Hilton Head. Definitely would recommend and we will stay there again. They also had rental units and cabins available, we rented the cabin last year and it was great. Quiet, friendly neighbors and pet friendly. Also near to a wildlife preserve. - EACreech
Sep 2016 - $25.00
One night stay. Take Exit 8 from the north or the south to save time. Quiet campground with roomy sites. Not a destination place unless you want to use it to explore Savannah. No one in registration when we arrived so we had to call a few times. It was easy in and easy out which is what we wanted. Would stay here in our fifth wheel again. - TailsAwagging
Jul 2016 - $30.00
Nice Park, big spaces
Easy drive to Savannah
Stayed here three days while we toured the area.
Good value, courteous staff. - happyflyer
Jun 2016 - $30.00
Needed a one night while heading north from FL. This was farther out of the way than anticipated. For some reason, the website gave definite instructions for those coming from the south on I-95 to get on I-16. Those coming from the north could exit I-95 and proceed to the CG. It seemed a bit out of the way. It was closer to re-enter 95 as you don't have to retrace your path. However, it is not a hop off and on location, but is doable. Check in was friendly and efficient. fyi-check or cash only. Our site was a spacious pull-thru, was gravel, and was very level. There is a dog park and plenty of areas to walk the dog. There is some road noise from Hwy 315. The cable channels were all local-not many, and the WIFI worked well during the day and later at night. It slowed quite a bit during the evening and earlier night hours. We would stay here again if in the area. - Gayle E.
May 2017 - $45.00
Well, this will teach me to always make reservations ahead, and read reviews! After going to the RV park that my husband picked out and finding out it was full, I called 5 more places and they were all full. Finally we found a place just outside Savannah called Sunshine RV Park. An elderly man checked us in and drove us to our spot. I will say this for him, he was nice enough to guide my husband into a back in spot, as he doesn't have much experience with this. He doesn't take plastic, only cash or check. It is $45 per night, no good Sam discount. For 4 nights that is $180. It is quiet here and apparently in a safe place. Another reviewer complained that there were roaches that infested their RV but that was a couple years ago. I hope that problem has been solved!! I went over this morning to check out the laundry room. There is no way on earth I would put my clothes in those dirty stinky washers. They appeared very old, and some actually had slime around the interior! The adjacent bathroom, unisex, was about the filthiest I've ever seen. Very small, broken fixtures, no soap or towels. Now I see why it is not good Sam rated! We have 2 weeks of dirty clothes piled up, so I guess we will be going to a laundromat in town. - rnmcampers
Apr 2017 - $45.00
Other parks were full when we visited the Savannah area, so we stayed at the Sunshine RV Park. First, one needs to understand the check-in process. The park is in a residential and government area. To check in, you pull up in front of the owner's house - park on the street and walk up to his/her garage which has an "Office" sign on it. When I checked-in, I was not given a map of the park, or any documentation whatsoever. They were, however, very adept at taking my $135 for three nights - which is only accepted by cash or personal check. Then, you drive down the street to another relative's house and are told where to park. The "main" park has a couple of typical loops and is located behind a fence. We were in the auxiliary area, which is a U shaped parking lot with back-in spaces around the outside. They sites here are close together and there is absolutely no shade. The sites in the main park appeared a bit better. This park is fine for a short basic stay. By that I mean, it's safe, relatively clean, and all of the hook-ups work. Don't expect much beyond that. - CampingWithPoodles
Jul 2016 - $25.00
This is a workers park. Mostly TT housing a younger working crowed on a permanent setups. While the park is kept neat and clean, the Wi-Fi advertised does not work, the bathhouse is a small room of the laundry with one toilet and one shower which is quite dated. My "pull Through" site was until I arrived and then another camper was backed in behind me and we shared the same power pole, me 50 amp him 30 amp. No cable and over the air was very poor. When it rains the area I was in was puddle city. Perimeter sites were more spacious but filled with long termers. I was parked in the "field" where my awning almost touched my neighbor and the guy behind me was so close I could barely walk behind my unit. Stay away from this park unless you are looking for cheap long term parking. - JimChan52
Apr 2018 - $32.00
We stopped here last April for one night passing through and decided to return for a longer stay. We love the park, almost all of the sites are pull-through. They are not site specific for reserving, but once you arrive you check in, they give you your packet, you select your site and put your name on the post. It was very wet after much rain but still love the spaciousness of the sites.
It appears they took a hit from hurricane Irma since our previous stay, with many trees downed and being "cleaned up." Did not deter us or dampen our spirits. Visited the Fort which was a huge bonus! This is one of our favorites! - Mamag76
Apr 2018 - $28.00
This was a pleasant park to stay at, outside Savannah. We would have liked to be closer to the city, but no other, closer campgrounds had sites available. - eduJamesE
Apr 2018 - $26.00
This is a good CG to stay at while visiting in the area. We used it as as a base when visiting Savannah. It's about 30-40 minutes into Savannah. All sites are pull-thru. There are no site specific reservations available. It's first come, first served with check-in at 1PM. If you don't want to face your neighbors, you need to select one of the sites on the right side of the 1st road in the CG. Specifically sites 4,6,8,9,11,13,15,17. We were in site 9 and had an unobstructed view of the marsh. The problem we had though were sand flies (sand fleas). They were numerous and not deterred by any bug sprays. I don't know if spots further away from the marsh had the same issue. It is a remote park with the CG at the end of a causeway. The causeway road is navigable but there are numerous pot holes that require close attention to the road. There are 2 hiking trails, but the one near the park entrance is still closed due to hurricane damage. - GA Bob
