Stayed on site D 2, which had some nice shade. New picnic tables. gravel pull thru with FHU. Cable and pool. Laundry room. Super friendly staff. Free hot Belgium waffles every morning, even weekends. At 6:30 pm, they will serve ice cream for $1 per scoop to raise money for KOA kids camps. The staff are so nice and friendly. The owners are currently living on the premises, but this is not permanent. Would definitely stay again. We camped at Craters of the Moon / Arco KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

The park has lots of green space and trees for shade. Many amenities for the kids, like swimming pool, frisbee golf, and other kids to play with :) There are some noises at night from nearby farming operations, but it is not like being in a city. The staff is friendly, and most of the other campers are too. The pool is quite cold, which is good for a hot summer day, but it is not like soaking in a hot springs :). Overall, we found the location to be relaxing and friendly. We camped at Craters of the Moon / Arco KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Got two sites side by side. Gravel parking with a pretty wide swath of grass between the sites. The gravel in the sites was very good, but not super level, but was able to easily level with jacks. The gravel in the roads could use some addition as they were fairly dusty to walk on. Staff was plentiful and friendly. They had an ice cream social in the evening for a dollar a scoop. They also offered a large waffle with the fixings in the morning for free. Quiet area- could barely hear the main road a few blocks away. No trains, a relief from other stays on this trip. We camped at Craters of the Moon / Arco KOA in a Motorhome.

We just can't resist touring Craters of the Moon whenever we are in this area. So, we are here for the 3rd year in a row. See my 8/16 review for a more detailed description of the park. This time we had one of the FHU, pull through sites in row D for good satellite reception. The Wi-Fi worked well for our minimal (e-mail and web surfing) needs. The bath and shower facilities are older, clean, and barely adequate for this park since there are non-sewer sites. As is typical of most KOA's, there was a pool and playground equipment. Unlike last year when weather was an issue, we were able to enjoy the pool. We didn't take advantage of their dinner food service but one of us enjoyed the morning waffle. We camped at Craters of the Moon / Arco KOA in a Motorhome.

Stayed 3 nights to see Craters of the Moon and EBR 1. Smaller, older KOA. Green space between campsites, owners work to water to ensure they stay that way. Located in high, dry desert area. They do offer ice cream nightly, as well as waffles in the morning. They also offer a limited food menu which they will deliver to your site. Good utilities, wifi and cable. Very small enclosed pet area. We camped at Craters of the Moon / Arco KOA in a Motorhome.

We stayed here on a trip to the EBR-1 and Craters of the Moon NM. The location is very convenient to both. The staff are very friendly, helpful and keep the park very clean. The sites are gravel and level. They had an Ice Cream Social in the evening and had waffles for breakfast in the morning. They have a small "Paper Plate Café" in the store that serves breakfast as well as burgers, chicken fingers, fries, etc that they will deliver to your campsite. The Campground is well maintained, clean and easy to navigate. They have a nice pool, playground and Dog Wash. WiFi was very good, surprisingly! Other stay options include 2 Teepees and several cabins.. They have a nice store and gift shop. The bathrooms were very clean and they clearly take pride in their park. There were a few restaurants nearby, including Pickles, which had an extensive menu and was pretty good. The town has an interesting park with the sail of the submarine USS Hawkbill, as well as a Mark 4 torpedo, 2 memorial stones and an interesting interpretive station. The town also has an interesting history including being the first to have been nuclear powered. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Craters of the Moon / Arco KOA in a Motorhome.

Owners nowhere to be found! Had to wait 1 1/2 hrs. to check in or get propane. Site was a dry weed patch, as was 90% of grounds. No place near what web site stated or we were told on phone when we made the reservation. I was promised a refund by the managers, who finally showed up..ha ha...Joke's on us! Couldn't put out awning due to dead tree. Had to get propane so left and went to a different park. In defense of managers, they were at doctor's 60 miles away. Still should not promise a refund and not give it and should always be someone on site that can conduct business and make decisions. We camped at Craters of the Moon / Arco KOA in a Motorhome.

Typical KOA with all the services. Looked like they were getting ready to close for the season. Our site was close to the office so we had a view of the trash and restrooms. Our neighbors were close which made it difficult to sit outside in privacy. Free waffles in the morning was a nice touch. Cable and wifi worked well. Just far enough away from the town center.
We would probably stay again if in the area but might try the other campground in the area as it looked very nice. We camped at Craters of the Moon / Arco KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed 2 nights so we could day-trip to the Craters of the Moon NP (30+ mins away). We did not have a reservation, yet got a decent site for our 30 ft 5W, pull-through, full hook-ups. Cons: windy and flies. Pros: free waffle in the am. The pool was closed for the season. The campground was relatively full, mostly of people passing through like we were - there are not a lot of other options in the area. There is really nothing of note in the town, unless you read up on the history of atomic power, etc. No restaurants of good note, and one overpriced grocery store. We camped at Craters of the Moon / Arco KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed here so we could visit Craters of the Moon N.M. Very well layed out with typical size sites. Original section has trees for shade but new section doesn't and the gravel in those sites needs packing down. Utilities were good. I was able to get a satellite signal and their wifi worked great the whole time. Not much else to see as the nuclear info site was closed for the season. This campground was very quiet most of the time as the 2 highways are at least a half mile away and the county road for access doesn't have much traffic. The owner was great with everything we needed and makes great waffles every morning. We extended by a day just because of these 2 things just to take a break. We camped at Craters of the Moon / Arco KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

The Craters to the Moon is an easy 18 miles away and I really enjoyed it and learned a lot.
Pickles restaurant had great burgers.
Did get a few items at the small grocery store and prices were about what I expected for a small town in the country.

This is our second year in a row staying here. First, let me correct an error I made in my review of last summer. I said that all three rows of fairly open RV sites had been upgraded to FHU. Only row D was upgraded. Rows E and F are still just W&E. Our site was a satellite friendly site in row B. It was a gravel, pull through with cable TV. Last year we got almost 60 channels. This time we got only 12. All park facilities are in the main building. The bathrooms are inadequate for a park with so many tent and non-sewer RV sites. There is a 8 machine laundry that cost me just $3 to wash and dry a large load. There is a pool and playground. The pool was being well used until it got, cloudy, the wind picked up, and the temperature dropped from the mid-80s to the low 70s in about an hour. There is an onsite "cafe" that, from 9-10 A.M, serves a free waffle for breakfast and has a limited dinner menu from 5-7 P.M. The WIFI worked well for us all evening. The staff I dealt with were friendly and helpful. I saw no sign of any recycling. This is a good park for a night or two to see the local (Craters and EBR-1) sights. We camped at Craters of the Moon / Arco KOA in a Motorhome.

This a great park! We stayed here before when visiting Craters of the Moon. This time we were just passing through the area, stopping for the night. We stayed in a pull through site that was long enough that we didn't have to unhook our tow car. We were tired after our drive so it was so nice to find out that they will deliver dinner to your site! We called the office and about 20 minutes later a fried shrimp dinner was delivered to our RV! Then we went to the ice cream social for dessert! We camped at Craters of the Moon / Arco KOA in a Motorhome.

Folks running the campground are very friendly. There is a nice little store of RV items, grocery items and souvenirs. They offered some dinner items, morning waffles, and evening ice cream. Bathrooms looked clean but showers looked old. Wanted to mention that they did not have cable, not sure if that is a permanent change or not. We camped at Craters of the Moon / Arco KOA in a Motorhome.

We normally boondock camp, so my review is based on that perspective.

Clean campground, but very little shade. It was pretty hot in mid-July during the day, but cooled off at night. It was a very convenient location for visiting Craters of the Moon and the EBR-1 nuclear site. It was full most of the nights we were here.

The waffle breakfast was only from 9-10 AM, so we weren't able to make use of it, as we wanted to get our day started early to avoid the heat.

The pool is very clean but cold. Even on a 100 degree day, the pool was too cold to stay in for very long. They did have a lawn sprinkler "thing" that the kids could play with (running through it to get wet) and that was a big hit.

Showers were clean (albeit a bit musty smelling) and we did not have to wait in line to use them.

I accidentally signed up for the KOA club when making my reservation online - so just be aware when booking online. It was $30, but saved us $17, so I didn't fight the charge.

We had site F1 which was nice in that there was a grassy area next to it for the kids to play, but in retrospect, F2 would have been a better site. It had a decent shade tree right over the picnic table. We camped at Craters of the Moon / Arco KOA in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here just 1 night and visited the nearby Craters of the Moon. This is a nice CG that has some nice hospitality events - at least when we were there. They had a daily ice cream social in the evening and while we were there, they had a wine tasting event. We didn't partake in the wine tasting, but they looked like they were having a nice time. The pool was well used, though a little small. We enjoyed our limited time here. We camped at Craters of the Moon / Arco KOA in a Travel Trailer.
