Jul 2017 - $30.00
Excellent location next to the Salmon River. Large lot and beautiful surroundings. We did not use the bathroom facilities, too far from the trailer. - jimcarol
Oct 2016 - $32.00
This is a gem of a campground, with very helpful and friendly owners. Interior roads are hard packed dirt, big rig access is good. Our site was a very spacious pull through grass site with full hook ups, of the 10 sites only two were 50amp, we had a picnic table, fire ring and plenty of space for our towed. Spectacular location along the Salmon River with views in all directions, several sites back directly onto the river, it was all very peaceful and quiet. The bathrooms and laundry were dated but clean. Very pet friendly with plenty of places to walk your pet. Wifi was good but there was no AT&T signal. No food stores close by, but there is a small mercantile that stocks the basics in Stanley about 20 miles away. Stanley is a wonderful little town, with a great visitor center, we left with an armful of great information on what to see and do. We highly recommend eating at 'Stanley Sluice Alehouse', it has an eclectic menu, and also the best food we have had for a long time. There is so much to see and do in this breathtaking area, scenic drives, ghost towns, wildlife, pristine rivers, the list is endless, but note some attractions close down after October 1st. We would stay here again, in fact we extended our stay here twice, hard to leave this great campground! - tobyjug

Lovely and peaceful RV park by the river. Horses and wildlife create a peaceful ranch atmosphere. Ann, our host, was very helpful! - CJtripping

Beautiful views, very well maintained RV park. Bathroom / shower house very clean, large size individual private shower rooms are awesome! Washer and dryer are easy to use and convenient. Spectacular location walking distance to golf course, close to restaurants, grocery store and gas stations. I loved the paved walking path around the beautiful golf course. I enjoyed walking every morning taking in the breathtaking mountain views! We will be staying here again! - Jdmcjm
Jul 2014 - $30.00
Nice place to stop overnight and play some golf if you want to. Our site was pretty level and gravel. Wi-Fi was not real strong but we could use it. Nice view of some interesting rock formations. - Tschachers
Aug 2012 - $25.00
Nice area of central Idaho. Lots of outdoor stuff to do. The park is clean and has great views of the area. Verizon coverage is good on extended network. No 3G, but the park's internet works fine. The only negative here is the sites are not near level, side to side, so one side of your rig is jacked up quite a bit. Overall, a nice place to spend a week. - retiredfields

Jul 2012 - $25.00
Nice surrounding views and this park is convenient to the interesting visitor center across the street. There are virtually no 50 amp spots that are accessible to big rigs. OK for spending the night but park is beginning to show lack of maintenance. Restroom/shower was not inviting. If you stay, try the ice cream at the next door gas station. AT&T air card didn't work. - JK Travels
Sep 2011 - $27.00
Nice grassy sites and a well-kept park. Neighborhood views aren't great; but mountain views around the valley are nice. Only negative about this park is no Wi-Fi, and my air card (Verizon) did not work in the park (or anywhere else in Challis area). Facilities are older, but nice fooseball table and pool table in the recreation room and jungle gym/swing set for kids outside. We would stay again, but felt the $27 rate was high for no cable and no Wi-Fi. - PATHFINDER AND RAINBOW
Aug 2011 - $18.00
We camped here and booked for one week and stayed another week. Great camp, nice area, great 4 wheeling at the Yankee Fork State Park across the road-miles of trail and mapped and marked. This is a wonderful park and the price is great, close to town. - Gail

Oct 2017 - $19.00
I reviewed this park in 2014 before it had new owners, A rundown neglected park struggling to stay in business at that time . What I see now is a park that is trying to improve things and make a comeback under different ownership . The sites are very large for pull through's can accommodate any length and the power, water, sewer work just fine for our particular needs we are right at 65 for long . We were pretty much the only ones there this time a year so the views were wide open and it was super quiet in the park. The owners seem to have daytime jobs so you don't even see them till late in the evening. The park is still a passport America Park, you can stay here for four days doesn't matter what day it is before the regular amount kicks in. There is the main road which runs through the middle of the park, this is also access for other areas not sure where but there is some light traffic that comes and goes more in the evening then any other time I noticed . We did actually go over to the golf course and look at that park. We chose this park over that one due to the fact it had longer sites and much more level . Hope this park continues to improve and also remain a PA park. - monaco cruiser
Aug 2017 - $36.00
The cost seemed high for a dry camp, especially with only dead grass and gravel to camp on. The "patrolling" of the park was too much! Waking customers and neighbors during the night (1:30- 2:00am) to question parking permits, threatening to have PERMITTED cars towed. We would not recommend staying at this park. - C Wilson
Aug 2017 - $18.00
We came here because we have Passport America. They are very very large sites but there is nothing around the sights. It is like a large parking area with gravel and power water and Sewer. We could not hook up our sewer however due to the strange configuration of the pipes. - signaloil

Nice sites with grass all around. This is a historic hot springs resort. The use of the pools are included in the camping fee. Many of the back in sites are back to back with your neighbor. No laundry facilities but we found s laundromat in Challis. We visited Bay Horse ghost town while we were here, very interesting but up a dirt road. - msunnergren
Jul 2017 - $28.00
Great park. Next the Salmon River. Owners are great. We were there for a wedding at the park and the owners were very accommodating for a large group. Plenty of room between the sites. Mosquitos can be a problem in the evening. Water faucet was almost 25 feet from our trailer and needed to move the trailer to the very edge of the site be close enough to the faucet. - Jimbo1087
Jul 2012 - $38.00
Arrived without reservation, friendly staff assigned us a large, on the river site. Quiet, relaxing. Really enjoyed the hot springs pool: the perfect temperature for me, which was hot! I didn't try the smaller, even hotter indoor pool as it was too hot for me. No AT&T cell here, Verizon air card did work. No sewer on site, dump station at entrance. DirecTV satellite no problem from my site. Other sites may have some tree issues. A nice find, I recommend a visit and would come back in the future. - Brujomar

Small National Forest campground about 5 miles East of Stanley, ID along the Salmon River. Had concessionaire on site as campground host. Host was very nice and offered fishing tips for the River that paid off in spades. Not much shade here, no showers, vault toilets, no cell service. Great spot to catch lots of trout. - Stax
Aug 2011 - $7.00
This is a beautiful spot located right on the Salmon River. The camp host keeps the facilities very clean. Fly fishing right outside your unit's door is terrific. Kayaking or tubing from Stanley to the campground is excellent! Lots of outdoor things to do in a very short drive from the campground. - trishpatrish
Aug 2011 - $13.00
Beautiful Forest Service Campground located on the Salmon River. Interior roads and sites are newly paved. Sites are level and long enough to accommodate a 40ft motorhome plus small tow. A few sites are close to Hwy. which is not a busy one. Most sites are back ins, a few pull throughs. No cell service. We would definitely return. This is a quiet park approximately 7 miles from Stanley. - mso

I checked off "pull thru" sites but there are only 2 or 3 of them. The rest are back-in. The pit toilets are kept very clean. The roads and sites are asphalt and fairly level. Sites have picnic tables and campfire grills. Half of the campground is on the river side of Idaho 75 the other half are located on the other side of the road. The water is by old fashioned pump, which means you can't hook a water hose up to it. There is a dump station and drinking water is available to dump/fill your tanks 1 mile south of Stanley, ID., at the ranger station. A $5.00 donation is appreciated. - gonzo444
Jun 2008 - $11.00
The only reason this campground did not get a 10 is because there are no hookups. This is a beautiful National Forest Service Campground located about 4 miles northeast of Stanley and is right on the beautiful Salmon River, the "River of No Return" which was the setting for the movie starring Marilyn Monroe. The sites are all very long, paved, and many are right on the banks of the river. This is one of the few National Forest Campgrounds in this Sawtooth Wilderness area where the roads and sites are fully paved and can handle a big rig. We pulled our 40' motorhome (with ease) head into the site so we could see the river from the windshield. The river was about 30 feet in front of us, with lots of white water boiling over the rocks. The camp manager was gracious and welcomed us like family. We boon docked here for only two nights due to our schedule, but we will definitely return for a longer stay. - 2Miles

The spaces are adequate, the staff is friendly, the prices are low, and the on-site restraunt excellent. What else is there? - gritz
Jul 2016 - $27.00
Took a "chance" with this park on account of latest review being in 2014? First off the senior owner is very nice as is all of the relations that work at the camp...and there many of them. Unfortunately ALL of their attention seems directed to the campgrounds "cafe" that services breakfasts thru dinner all but Monday's. While we found the food good, it was also very much overpriced. The campground itself was in need of major attention. The "terrace" level with a beautiful view of the mountains was dry and dusty, no shade not grass, and resembled more of a maintenance staging area than a campground. Most of the trailers there appeared to be long-term. I wouldn't store my motorhome there. It is nothing but a maintenance staging area, dry and dusty, with a number of what looked to be full-timers. As for the lower shaded area around the "cafe" a large number of the sites appear longer term possibly workers in the cafe. most of the sites appear to be longer stay campers. Dogs were not kept on leashes and allow to use the entire park as their private bathroom area and nobody seemed to care. Weeds around our hookups were over a foot tall and I pulled many just to get to the water connection. It was like nobody gave any attention, or cared, about what went on outside the "cafe". As for bathrooms/showers they were not what I would label dirty but far from up to my level of cleanliness. Both the individual toilet and shower "bays" we're very "tight"! I believe we stayed in site #12, in a motorhome, and no, we would not stay at this park next time in the Stanley area. This park deserves no more than a 4 rating. - Sweatlife
Sep 2014 - $27.00
This park has a variety of site sizes and types in the lower shaded area...some more level than others. Pads are gravel, no fire pits at individual sites, but a nice central fire pit/grill in a grass area with a large awning over picnic tables. The Pot Belly cafe on-site is very good casual dining. The smoked prime rib offered on Weds & Sat is great. Free laundromat and nice folks make this worth a visit. - bugsy
