The rate reflects a 50% Federal Senior Pass discount. The standard rate of $20 is quite high for a campground where the only services are trash and pit toilets. There is water with a hand pump, so not suitable for filling a tank. There is no dump station. So, you will want to arrive with fresh water and empty waste tanks.

Is is important to emphasize that this campground is not suitable for big rigs. The interior roads are very narrow and the sites short. Also, during our visit there were fairly large branches extended over the roadway, so it is not suitable for high-profile vehicles unless you don't mind some potential scratches. By the time we discovered this, we were fairly committed on a one-way road and decided to go with the potential scrapes.

Many of the sites are tent only. About half of the sites are reservable. We arrived without reservations on a Thursday at about 11, and had about three sites to choose from. The sites are paved and many are well separated with thick vegetation for visual separation.

The campground is in a valley, so you will not see sun very early in the morning and it will go down about 4 or so in the summer. It was very quiet and dark at night. The campground is about 15 minutes outside of Coeur d'Alene. It feels very isolated. There was no camp host and some campers looked like they were living here. We had some slight concern about leaving our motorhome here as we visited the town, but fortunately, we had no problems. We were able to get a good Verizon signal for voice and data. The campground is certainly much less expensive than the commercial campgrounds in the area. We camped at Beauty Creek in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Near the campground: the 3.3 mile Mineral Ridge trail is not too difficult and offers great views. Great Fred Meyers in Coeur d'Alene is great. The town of Kellog, about 30 miles to the east has a free dump and fresh water.

Just stayed one night as a stopover on our way from Oregon to Montana. A little pricey at $20 for dry camping NF campground. They take reservations here online, otherwise it's first-come first-serve on available sites. Definitely not for big rigs. We have a 29-foot 5th-wheel and we really struggled to back into site 16 due to the very narrow road and might have scratched up our truck's front corner needing to turn into the bushes, but got it in backing the wheels all the way to the tire stopper (back end extending into the campsite area). The hosts ended up being a family with teenage and young kids and seemed too busy with their brood than to help the campers or even remove old tag posts so that we could have seen that there were other available sites to choose from! We arrived at 4pm with check-out at 1pm so there was no excuse for not cleaning up the site posts. The sites have a lot of undergrowth foliage so you can't see your neighbors, which is how camping should be! The creek was completely dry at our visit. Each site was concrete pad with picnic table and fire pit w/ grill. It's dry camping here and no dump station, so come with full/empty tanks, generator, and stocked groceries. Vault toilets only, no running water or showers. There were water spigots for drinking/cooking and dogs. Lastly, we work online so Verizon LTE data coverage is important, and we got strong service here. We camped at Beauty Creek in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

No services at this exit, you'll have to get back on the interstate toward Coeur d'Alene to get refreshments, gas, groceries, etc.

Decent NF campground with narrow spaces, but lots of space between spots and all right next to the creek. Pit toilets, bear boxes, and that's about it. Many spots will need some leveling aid. Not a campground for large rigs. We camped at Beauty Creek in a Travel Trailer.

Seven miles east of Coeur d'Alene I-90 Exit 22, then south and west on SR 97 for about 2 miles to bridge marked Beauty Creek; just before the bridge turn left onto Forest Road 438 for about a mile. Entrance on right. Although 32 foot RV limit is mentioned, we were able to park fiver and tow vehicle (45 feet) without unhitching. This is everything a campground should be - almost. Gravel interior road, paved spurs. Spacious sites arranged along a small creek (which was dry in July). Widely spaced (30 to 50 yards) sites with underbrush separation between sites. Typical Forest Service sites with table, our favorite round steel fire rings w cooking grill. Pit toilets, no showers, no hookups of any kind. Quiet and peaceful. Wells have become contaminated, so potable water is available only in a plastic tank near entrance - no dump station. Bring tanks full and empty. We camped at Beauty Creek in a Fifth Wheel.
