Idaho's Three Island Crossing State Park - on the Snake River - just off I-84 - and 1-hour south of Boise - is well worth a multi-day visit. Park campsites, in both loops, are generally well-spaced spaced and well-shaded. Parking pads are paved. Elec service is 30-amp, which might be a problem for "some" campers who want to run more than one AC unit. Park lawns are well-watered and green even during the area's hot and dry summer months. From mid-May through mid September, expect hoards weekend campers, but far fewer visitors Mon-Thur. The CG is open all-year, but don't expect water or elec service in the winter. On-site sewer service would be nice, but the park's dump station is more than adequate. Cell service in the lower CG loop may be a bit iffy, but service shouldn't be a problem in the upper loop. Several sites in the upper loop have views of the Snake River. Lots of in-park trails to walk and bike. Three Island SP is one of our preferred overnight stopovers when travelling I-84 from southern Utah to the Oregon coast. We camped at Three Island Crossing State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

We stayed two weeks and loved the park. Of course, it was during the hottest part of July/August, so running 2 a/c's on 30 amps was a near impossibility. There was vast expanses of green areas that are watered frequently and give the park an "open" feeling. This state park tends to fill up on the weekend with families and church groups, but all were clean and quiet. On site staff was great, very friendly and helpful. Definitely visit the Oregon trail interpretative center and also visit where the trail crosses the Snake River. Only drawback is no sewer, but there are 2 dump stations on the property. We camped at Three Island Crossing State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

If one has time, there is a local theater company in Glenns Ferry....definitely a hoot. Also, if in season, the local supermarket had fresh local corn available-yummy!

We had site 7 on the corner it overlooks the river and the interpretative center and being on the corner the lot is huge! I think it's the best site at the park. They have 2 dump stations and most people don't know about the one on the way to the interpretative center. We camped at Three Island Crossing State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

In Gooding there is a farm that makes wonderful cheese. Also If you take Rt 30 towards Hagerman you have Malad River Gorge, a couple of fish hatcheries, Niagra Springs, and a few other things. Take a trip up Rt. 75 to Stanley and stop at the historical markers or hike. Lots of things to see along that route.

Pros: Beautiful setting on Snake River. It is an Oregon Trail historical site with a very nice free (to campers) museum on the grounds. Extra large campsites with graveled parking area and every site benefits from a variety of trees and a large grassy area perfect for reading and talking with passers-by. The campground area itself was beautiful with many different kinds of trees and grass throughout. Restrooms and showers were clean and modern. Cons: There were really no cons. The only things that people might want that were not provided was wi-fi and in-site sewer connections. For us, our Verizon wifi hotspot worked well and the campground sewer dump station was just fine. We camped at Three Island Crossing State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We loved the museum. It was right within the park, high quality, and very interesting. For anyone thinking of visiting in July, August or the 1st of September, there is a really, really good show provided on certain nights entitled "An Evening on the Oregon Trail. No charge for campers. It was a 90 minute presentation that provided the history of the crossing of the prairie schooners across the Snake at the point of the park (from both the European and Native American standpoints), an engaging demonstration of tools, weapons, and artifacts used by the early trappers, and an awesome one-woman performance drawn from the diaries of the women traveling on the Oregon Trail. The dates for the remainder of 2018 are July 21, August 2, 11, 16, 18, and 30, and September 1, 2018.

We were cheered by the sight of the many trees shading both loops of the park. Though others have opined that the space between sites is spacious, we felt a tad too close to the neighbors. Site surface was asphalt and featured a fire ring and picnic table. We camped at Three Island Crossing State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Clean gorgeous view. Bath and shower spotless. Large sights with lots of grass. Front gate security with on sight host. Sights on right of wagon wheel loop have best view but all sight nice with shade and can still get Dish satellite. Private air field in view of park for sight and sound, Train noise to a minimal when out side. We camped at Three Island Crossing State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We enjoyed bicycling around the park and walking on part of the Oregon Trail. Nice displays of covered wagons. Large trees and lots of grass. The park rangers and camp hosts are very helpful. Be sure to make reservations. Glenn's Ferry is a quaint and friendly town. Don't miss Smith's Hometown Hardware Store. Really fun!

Overall Rating:

As others have said, this is a lovely state park with green lawns and lots of shade trees. While only a few have privacy bushes between sites, overall the sites are spacious. Sites 7 - 19 on Wagon loop have at least a partial view of the Snake river. Almost all sites accommodated our 35' motor home. The $ listed by others are correct - except they don't include the fees - $10 for reservation (necessary on weekends), and if you have a tow vehicle an extra $5/night which is not charged to trailers! A little expensive for only 30 amp and no sewer (dump available). Also as mentioned, some of the trees need pruning although I don't recall seeing any more dead trees, we did have a dead branch that scraped our rig on site 22, but they came the next day and removed it so we didn't have a problem leaving. Sites were level in general. Even on the weekend with the camp full, it was quiet and camp host very friendly. Mostly back ins, very few pull thrus. We camped at Three Island Crossing State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit the interpretative center and drive (without RV) the short the Oregon Trail byway (ID 84) to the overlook of the 3 islands. Fantastic and an opportunity to walk the sagebrush, etc that the pioneers experienced, including the heat of the summer.

We stay in this park 3 or 4 times each summer and have always had an enjoyable stay. Spaces between units are big enough to enjoy some privacy. Nice big trees but bare careful, some are dead and need to be removed. The camp host was constantly checking on certain dogs to make sure they were leashed but let others keep theirs of leash. One of the rangers took some toys from our campsite and placed them in the lost and found at the interpretive center without asking if they were ours first. No parking for guests. We camped at Three Island Crossing State Park in a Motorhome.

Beautiful park and nicely maintained, although I didn't use the restroom facilities so I can't rate those. Yes, they water a lot but the green grass is a testimony to it. My rate was from a senior discount available from M-Th. Right on the Snake River, historical displays and plentiful bird population. The route into the park is a little convoluted, using a lot of side streets but well worth it. There is a winery and restaurant close by. There are two loops within this state park. All of the interior roads are on asphalt. The sites within the lower loop are on asphalt, the upper loop's sites are on crushed rocks. All sites have 50/30/15 amp electrical service as well as water. The voltage was good (but few people were using their air conditioners). The electrical box and water spigot were on the appropriate side. There are two dump stations with fresh water. Most of the sites appear to be fairly level. All sites have a fire ring and a picnic table. Fire wood was available for purchase. There are two camp hosts (one for each loop). Each loop has a bathroom with (3) showers per gender. The bathroom has recently been upgraded. The shower room looked institutional right down to a wooden stool that was screwed into the floor. Some showers had a plastic shower curtain, most did not. Some of these shower curtains were moldy and should be replaced. Free WiFi was available for 20 minutes every 12 hours. We did not use it. Verizon air card and phone reception was OK. Cable TV was not available. During our three day stay the grass was constantly being watered. It was difficult not getting wet while walking along the sidewalks. There is a day use fee of $5 per day in addition to the camping fee and a $10 reservation fee. These fees are waived if you were an Idaho resident. For non-residents a night's stay at this park would be around $35 and that does not include a reservation fee. Seniors get a discount from Monday thru Thursday. The senior discount comes to approximately $19.50. Also note that there is a 6% sales tax. This is a nice park but we would only come back using the senior discount. We camped at Three Island Crossing State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

A very decent Idaho state park. We were just passing through and decided to stay a couple of nights. 1/2 price senior discount available Sun-Thur if you qualify. Two seperate camping areas. The upper was typical with decent sites, but with gravel pads. The lower campground had asphalt pads, but kind of a weird layout. Several "companion" sites which cost more than a regular but are double wide to share. Not wide enough if one or both have slides though. Several other sites shared the driveway with one site going straight back and the other is very close (and small yard) at a 45 degree angle. Hopefully you know your neighbor! Lots of grass in both loops and a decent number of nice trees. Very bigrig friendly. Good Verizon coverage but sattelite reception depends on site and trees. Park is on the river. No sites have river frontage, but a few in the upper loop have views. Walking trail in the park follows a section of the Oregon Trail and leads to the ferry crossing area. We camped at Three Island Crossing State Park in a Motorhome.
