Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

This 'no frills' park located on Highway 20 provides the basics and a short 14-mile drive to the west entrance to Yellowstone. The daily $60/night is overpriced for what they offer, and they do not accept Passport America rate through July. We stayed here in August at a reasonable monthly rate. The RV sites are pull-through gravel/dirt sites with grass in-between with sufficient space between sites and each site has a picnic table. Cedar trees but no shade trees. The utility connections are conveniently located. The sites on the south side of the main gravel drive all appear to be level, but the sites on the north side in the back row are not, but could easily be leveled with the addition of a little gravel on the front end. The park staff members in the office are friendly and helpful, but we did witness two very heated altercations between outside staff members and different guests on two separate occasions. The park itself needs a lot of low-cost aesthetic improvements which we were told by staff members the elderly owners are choosing not to make. The areas behind the main building, miscellaneous landscaping equipment, a couple of junky looking road graders and a few dilapidated small buildings which are not used are all in the open. The 50-amp electric was reliable. This park is in a valley situated between 2 mountains and the wind is very gusty at times. There is a large 'Rec Room' which is nice but the main doors at the front of the building were always locked. A staff member told us this room gets very little use because it is not very visible nor advertised to RVers upon arrival. The 'Exercise Equipment' advertised on the park's web page was never set up per a staff member. All in all, not a bad park but there are several other RV Park options between here and the West Yellowstone Park entrance. With a little TLC this could be a great park. We camped at Valley View RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a fairly basic park. All sites appear to be gravel, pull through, FHU, and satellite friendly. There is a central bathhouse and the "office" is in a large laundromat. We camped at Valley View RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed at this park for a month. The owners and camp hosts are terrific people. They are always ready to help you with anything you might require. The park also has a laundromat on site and the office is open from 8AM to 7PM. I highly recommend this park if you are visiting Yellowstone National Park. We camped at Valley View RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The views of the surrounding mountains is breathtaking! Even though it is about 15 miles from the entrance to Yellowstone, it really isn't inconvenient. The utilities worked fine. All that being said, the ambiance of this park is sorely lacking. As we were being led in to our site on the back row, the fellow in the golf cart took us behind the building and in front of the front row of RVs. There was all sorts of yard equipment and what-not scattered behind the building that made it look very junky. As we got to the road at the very rear of the park, there was property behind the park (not hidden in any way) that was junked up and very unsightly. In consideration of the surrounding beauty the unkempt atmosphere was an unpleasant surprise. The sites are all pull through but, in our section, they were straight on instead of slanted. Hard to get in to because they aren't very long and almost impossible to get out of. The internal roads are too small to allow for the wide swing to avoid posts, trees, other RVs, etc. We had to back our RV on to the road behind us at a 90 degree angle to get out. $60 is a ridiculous amount to charge for this park, but they can get it because of their proximity to Yellowstone. We won't be back. We camped at Valley View RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Valley View is located about 20 miles west of the west entrance of Yellowstone in Island Park, Idaho. It is in a scenic location overlooking a far lake and surrounded by mountains. The campgrounds are next to Highway 20 and there is some road noise, especially if you are in one of the front rows. In the back, not so much. The front office staff are very nice and helpful. The sites are dirt/gravel for the RV and grass on the side of the RV. Plenty of room between the spaces. Walking through grass into the RV seems to help with keeping the dirt out. It also is a pleasant area to cook, eat, and just sit. Sites are long enough to park a motorhome and toad. Water and power work just fine. The wifi is sometimes up, sometimes down and not real strong when up. Our dump connection was too high so that it was uphill from the coach. I would stay at Valley View again. Their website claims level pull-thru sites. We were put on site G9 behind the gas station. Never got level. We spent 4 nights with the front of our motorhome downhill. Laundromat hours not convenient for someone planning to visit Yellowstone. Opens at 8:00 and last load must be started by 5:30. Laundry prices were reasonable. Wifi not great. Grocery store, restaurants, and souvenir shopping was 15 miles in West Yellowstone. Yellowstone National Park was 16 miles and Old Faithful was another 15 miles. Both were worth a visit and easy drive.

We stayed here for 6 days to visit Yellowstone NP and this was the nearest we could get due to being late in making reservations. The staff is friendly and helpful. Laundry is available at the office. The site was more than adequate - level and wide. The underground varmints had many holes in the grass, but were not a problem. The trash bin was a walk - at the other end of the RV park. We camped at Valley View RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We purchased groceries at Robin's Roost west on highway 20, and, at the 2 grocers in West Yellowstone. West Yellowstone is about 20 minutes away. Yellowstone souvenirs were less expensive in West Yellowstone than in the NP. We found long lines at the NP entry, and within the park. Expect some delays. We lived with it and had full days of sightseeing. If one feature was backed up, we went on to another and generally had an easier time finding parking.

Uneven, non-level sites separated by scraggly, barely alive crab grass. Sites do offer a fair amount of space between though if we had a neighbor we would have had to watch closely that our slide/awning didn't collide. Was chastised for getting the PA discount because the owner had apparently told some but not all that he wasn't offering it. Give him credit though as he kept with the quoted prices and honored the PA discount. Got to also say the folks that work here are simply outstanding, making the park. Recommend spending a little more and trying to grab a site where there is some shade. In the summer the sun can be brutal at this altitude.

This is really a nice park. Well laid out, very level sites with plenty of space between sites. Folks were helpful setting up. Only ran into one problem- and that was they seem to be having a few glitches with their power company or circuit breakers which kicked off every day once a day. But they fixed it immediately. Voltage was very good as I checked it frequently. They are working on getting this fixed. Just an outstanding RV park (no amenities except for a handy laundromat on site) and its a bit away from anything. The views are stunning! Would have rated higher if power had been OK. We enjoyed our month long stay at Valley View Rv park. The monthly rate is a great value for the West Yellowstone area. Our grass/gravel site had a generous width. Although it was along the highway, nights were quiet. We made several trips to Yellowstone National Park, West Yellowstone and area attractions such as Big Springs and Harriman State Park. The area is very beautiful. We enjoyed amazing hikes especially those along the Continental Divide Trail. We stayed in a Class A rig and plan to return. Stayed for three months. Close to highway and the associated noise. Sites are plenty long enough to accommodate the longest rigs and are about 30 feet wide. Wi-Fi signal was not strong enough and if we were able to connect, we were soon dropped. Having a site closer to the office or restroom access points may correct this. Made a reservation and then when we arrived they said they didn't have it. Very small family run place without much in the way of amenities but very close to Yellowstone. We were forced to stay on "the other side of the road" where the longer term local contractors were housed. No amenities other than hookups over there. Acceptable in our circumstance as we were late arrival early departure but not for longer term stay.

Beautiful scenery and don't forget your bug spray!!! We camped at Valley View RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
