This was a great park to stay at. It is well maintained, clean bathrooms - the main bathrooms are closed from 10pm to 8pm but regularly cleaned Porta Potties are available with hand sanitizer for the night. Trees are large, most (if not all) spaces had a picnic table, a tree for shade and a fire ring. The river is nearby but well fenced off - the only RV park we found in Lava Hot Springs with that feature (we travel with little children so that's a great feature!). The staff was friendly, they are hard to reach by phone but leave a message and they will call back. They go out in person and make sure you find the right site and will not answer the phone while checking another camper in. This is a non-profit campground run by the Sheriff's Association and managed by a retired sheriff. Probably not the campground for anyone who wants to party all night!!! (I'm chuckling as I type that!) I toured the other campgrounds that I could find in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, and this was by far the best I could find. I recommend this campground, it will accommodate large rv's. It is not paved but we didn't mind. We camped at Mary's Place in a Tent Trailer.Undo

Since you cannot put specifics on this website, lets just say the staff is 'get in your face' rude. The sites are on top of each other. The river view sites are way above the river and you can barely see it if you lean over the fence. You are right off the main road so there is a lot of traffic noise. They lock up the bathrooms at night so we did not use them. And make sure you read the list of rules, because they are all over you, if you break them. The shade trees were great and they did come around and pick up your trash. I would not stay here again. We camped at Mary's Place in a Travel Trailer.Undo

As far as Lava goes, Mary's place is a decent place to stay, if not the best RV park in Lava Hot Springs. Due to the draw of the pools, RV's pay a premium to stay in Lava. To sum this park up, it is a large grassy area with mature trees. The spots are very close. The hookups are older but seemed to work well for us. The staff was accommodating, not super friendly. The entrance to the park is a single lane road and can be tricky as you cross the river. We had cars trying to go around us as the line to check in pushed us back a ways. Once checked in, our site was adequate. Still on the expensive side, but we knew that going in. The fire pits are small and we decided to not have a fire as the smoke and noise would have been right near the side of the RV next to us. The train is annoying, however it adds flavor. The park was quiet after hours. We did hear they had an issue with dogs as owners were not picking up after them. I would hate to see them ban dogs as many people travel with their pet. We did not see any problem, but that could have been due to the park owners cleaning it up. Overall, a nice place that will probably only get better as all the money they make goes right back into the park. I'm looking forward to seeing what improvements they make! We camped at Mary's Place in a Motorhome.Undo

Beautiful little park in a beautiful location. The Good: Friendly greetings; a quiet park (we were here during the week, I think weekends are busier); just far enough away from town for peace and quiet, but close enough to walk to the Hot Springs, which are amazing. This park is right up against the hill behind the KOA park, so the train is further away and relatively quiet. Trains tend to blow their whistles at the other end of town. Nice grassy location. The only thing I regretted was that we were right under a light. The stars are amazing if you can put a tree or two between you and the lights. The one warning I would issue is the water pressure is extremely high (95 lbs). We blew out a hose, but without our regulator we could have damaged our RV. Would stay here again when we are in the Lava Hot Springs area. We camped at Mary's Place in a Fifth Wheel.Undo

Despite the lack of reviews, this is THE BEST place to stay in Lava Hot Springs. It is SO much better than the adjacent park that you will be kicking yourself if you stay there. It's excellent and one of the prettiest campgrounds we've stayed at. The reason there are no reviews is that the place has recently changed owners -- it was part of an estate that was left to charity and now it is run by different owners as a non-profit. All of the money goes towards improvements to the campground and to charity. The campground itself is beautiful, with grassy sites and very nice trees, beautifully landscaped. The pull-through sites are very long and wide with full hook-ups. They could fit very big RV, unlike the nearby park which is extremely tight. The campground backs up to a very pretty hill and is adjacent to the river. Just gorgeous. The location is perfect for visiting the hot springs, which are walking distance away. The people running the campground are extremely friendly and helpful as well. The only reason we didn't give this campground a 10 is because it only has 30-amp power. There is also a noisy train that passes by right across the road, but this would be a problem no matter where you stayed. Finally, if you are wondering if the hot springs themselves are worth visiting, they are. They are run by the state and are immaculate. While they are certainly developed and touristy, they are nicely done. The bottoms of most of the pools are made of pebbles, which feel great on your feet. The hot springs have no sulfur, so they don't stink. Wonderfully relaxing and pretty too. Definitely worth a stop. We camped at Mary's Place in a Fifth Wheel.Undo
