Half way between Sandpoint and Bonners Ferry--small lake is open for swimming but cold and very deep. Fenced dog park is new this year and has grass, trees, and lots of bags.

Park shows pride of ownership. The owner has added little touches that make a big difference. Restrooms are clean and nice. The dog park is the best one we've seen in our travels, and he has dog trails that are off leash that our puppies loved! Owners were always working, keeping the dust down (it was very warm). Everything was always in order -- the lake, canoes. Wine bar in the evening. Just a wonderful place to stay! We camped at Blue Lake RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

We were escorted to our site which was fairly level with full shade. The CG itself is a bit hilly. Some sites are almost fully shaded while others are open. The lake is pretty and others were swimming. We passed a leisurely afternoon there. We enjoyed the dog trail that lead to the fenced in dog park which was secure. Staff was helpful and friendly. Train noise hourly, got used to it. We camped at Blue Lake RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Very nice campground with the owner working hard to keep it up to date and pleasant. The little lake is deep and clear and would be a blast to swim in and the owner provides life jackets. However there is no playground for little ones. Trains are very loud and frequent. This is the reason I took off points as this is a lot of money to pay for not being able to sleep at night. Also this was our first campground back in the states after going through the horrific border patrol at the Canada Idaho border. The two things that cannot be controlled by this owner are the trains and border patrol so if you do not think these will bother you by all means this is the place to go in the area. We will not be able to stay here again. We camped at Blue Lake RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Beware of US customs at this border crossing into US. Very rude, unprofessional, harassing and intimidating of older couple with grandson. We have crossed the border many many times, 3 times on this trip alone, and never encountered anything like this.

Overall Rating:

This is a rustic slightly neglected family oriented campground, staff were pleasant at check in. Interior roads are gravel, and big rig access was fair. Our level gravel pull through site was wide enough but not long enough to leave our towed connected. There was not a lot of privacy between sites, there were plenty of trees and we had a picnic table and fire ring, we also had a peek of the small lake through the trees. The older style bathrooms had been updated and were clean, the laundry was adequate. Fairly pet friendly with pick up bags. Wifi was okay and AT&T signal was adequate. This campground is located next to the train tracks and a very busy road, so noise is pretty much 24/7. The road into and out of the campground is pretty rough too. We would not stay here again. We camped at Blue Lake RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This park has something for everyone. Perfect balance of easily accessed campsites and Mother Nature. It has big rig friendly pull thru sites overlooking the lake. Tent sites on the shore of the lake. A mix of pull thru and back in sites nestled in the trees. They have a few cabins and tent cabins available for rent. There's a large off leash area for pets. Wine and beer bar open in the evening during the summer. It's a great spot for families and couples that are traveling thru northern Idaho. The couple that own and run this park go out of there way to make sure you enjoy your stay. If you need restaurant, fishing or site seeing recommendations they have you covered. I stopped in here for 3 nights in June and ended up using this campground as my base camp to enjoy the surrounding lakes, rivers and mountains of northern Idaho till November. We camped at Blue Lake RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Shaded sites. Unusual layout but it worked. Situated in the pines, we were still able to get a satellite signal. Laundry was old and the dryers were the slowest in the Western Hemisphere. The hosts were were very helpful and friendly. Sites were not very level. Lots and lots and lots of trains. Close by, really close. We like them. Be very careful crossing the busy tracks. The campground is located very close to the highway but any noise dies down at night. Be very careful of the turn to the campground road if you are coming from the south. The entrance road from the highway to the train tracks is extremely rough so go dead slow. There are a few trains but if you are further back in the campground they will not be bothersome. The campground is only a few miles from Bonners Ferry which is somewhat interesting to explore. We also did a hike to Snow Creek Falls (a little hard to find) which is a very nice walk in the woods. We camped at Blue Lake RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Shopping is quite close by at Bonner's Ferry and a nice hike is to Snow Creek Falls is worth while. Try taking some of the back roads (paved for the most part) towards Bonner's Ferry through the nice country side.

You cross a very busy railroad track on the way into the campground. Trains go by day and night blowing their whistle. Depending on whether you have the A/C running and if you are a light sleeper they can be a bother. I love trains so it was music to my ears. The campground has many levels but is very easy to maneuver. My pull-through was very level. Owners very friendly and accommodating. Directed me to my site. Beautiful lake. The bath/shower house has individual bathrooms just like you have at home. You walk into a complete private bathroom with full shower and lock the door behind you. Clean and inexpensive laundry room. WiFi was poor but I was not very close to the office. A nice selection of over the air TV stations available. Full hookup utilities easy access and good location on the site. Between the pull-through sites there is a nice small solid fence shielding your neighbor's sewer hookup from view at your picnic table. There are several trees between the pull-throughs but not at every site. The rest of the campground has a huge canopy of trees. I stayed here for 2 weeks. We camped at Blue Lake RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Close to the highway so easy in and out, but if coming from the south go past the entrance, make a U-turn just up the road at a wide pull off. Come back south on the highway and the sharp turn onto the campground road is easier.

Great place to stay while you explore Bonners Ferry, Sandpoint, Naples, Canada, and the surrounding forests. Naples has a great General Store that also includes the post office. It also has yummy homemade cookies and ice cream cones. And just about anything else. Bonners Ferry has some great places to eat. A museum and a great history.

The hosts are very nice and approachable. The park is 'big rig' friendly according to the site. I would rather say that it is big rig accessible but you should be on your A game and ready for some maneuvering. There are some tight turns and elevation changes on dirt. The park has a kind of eclectic 'hippy'ish' set up. That's popular in this area it seems. The host led us in to the site. The town of Bonners Ferry is interesting. The people we encountered were pretty nice. There are quite a few long term guests. We camped at Blue Lake RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We went into the historic part of Bonners Ferry to check it out. It was interesting. We ate at Mugsy's and the hamburgers were very tasty. I would avoid the cheesecake recommendation in the future but that's probably a personal thing. It just wasn't as dense as I like it to be.

Very nice pull thru site. This is right next to an active train track. Please be extra careful at the crossing as there is no guard rail and it is difficult to see the train coming from the north. Sometimes they use the whistle, sometimes not. This is a disaster waiting to happen. Other than that, the site was nice. We camped at Blue Lake RV Resort in a Motorhome.

A really nice little park in a wooded setting. Owners were very helpful. Large pull through sites with lots of room. Quite a little bit of train noise during the night, but we managed to sleep through most of the whistles. When we got the rig set up for the night the owner came by and said that the "happy hour" wine and micro beer bar was about to open on the balcony overlooking the lake. We had a great time relaxing, having a glass of wine and visiting with other RVers. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Blue Lake RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

The setting here is nicely wooded with a view out to the private lake in some sites. Owner was very cordial and helpful. We enjoyed the wine bar and the large table space overlooking the lake. The wine bar hosts were fun to talk with along with other guests enjoying the lake view. The train nearby was not an issue for us. We would definitely stay here again. We stayed for 3 nights. Owners are incredibly friendly and helpful. The lake is so peaceful. Not big, and no walk-in access but there is dock to jump off of, paddle boats, kayaks to rent.

Sites are large and easy to get into. The owners have a wine bar they operate at night. Excellent value. Would make this a destination park for sure. We camped at Blue Lake RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
