We stopped here for a couple days because it was en route between other destinations. I think this would be a better fall or spring destination than summer, and I'd skip it altogether if you don't fish or kayak (there's no swimming at the lake).

No sewer at the sites, but there's a dump station at the entrance/exit of the park.

Summertime + water meant there were a lot of bugs, so we spent most of our time indoors, but we did enjoy watching the birds from our trailer and even saw a huge jack rabbit one evening. We camped at Lake Walcott State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The park's pretty far out of town. Get your supplies before coming in. Summer is buggy with the hot weather and the lake: try Spring or Fall.

Watch for jack rabbits in the sage brush and egrets on the lake.

Overall Rating:

The camp sites on the inner ring of the loop had the picnic tables (chained down), & fire rings on the back side of the trailer. Very inconenvient! Also, the site pads were not at all close to level (side to side, and front to back). Bring plenty of leveling blocks. Other than these items, it was a nice place to stay. We camped at Lake Walcott State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Price was per night ($33.62) for a non Idaho resident. Idaho residents pay $28.00. There are speed bumps on the entry road to the park. Easy in and out for big rigs, but don't drive into the park office parking lot (to the right of the entry fee station) since it would be difficult to turn around. I was told that the entry fee station is open only on weekends. If you visit during the week and want one night only, you can proceed to the campground, pick a site that's not reserved for that night, and self-pay near the camp host site. If you want multiple nights, you should stop at the park office. The campground is a loop, with sites on both sides of the loop, and there is a good amount of space between each site. Sites have 30 amp electric and water, with a dump station available. Sites and interior roads are asphalt, there are pull-throughs, back-ins, and double-wide sites. Some sites are partially shaded and others are full sun. Sites have a grill, fire pit and picnic table. The trees were planted such that they don't present a problem for parking. There isn't a view of the lake from the campground as there are large trees separating the two areas. There are several trails within the campground, and there is a wildlife management area adjacent to the campground. There are plenty of places to walk pets, but it did appear they have foxtail grass there. Our Verizon data and cell service worked fine. There is park internet, but skype and netflix are blocked. We had no OTA channels. Camp host was friendly. We camped at Lake Walcott State Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: September, 2013 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Nice campground on a large grassy area. Sites fairly large and easy to get into, pull-thru's and back ins. Some trees, but little shade or privacy. Water hookup only, electrical as of now is OTS, but price is reduced accordingly. There is a dump station. Each site has a picnic table, fire pit, and raised grill. Shower was OK, and flush toilets. Cabins are also available. Cell signal fine. They offer pay WiFi, $3.00 per day, cheaper for longer periods. It worked good except a short period where it would not connect. Beautiful lake, good bird watching, and a disc golf course. We were there mid to late September, very few people, quiet. Flies were horrible. If you are 62 or older rate is reduced Mon. - Thurs at $14.54. We camped at Lake Walcott State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Oh what a lovely park. We were there in what I guess would be the off season (mid September) so it was very quiet and peaceful during the week; the weekend was a bit more crowded. The town of Rupert is about 10 miles away, which is a catch 22, I guess so plan ahead. Also, the office wasn't staffed all that much during the day. Given all that, the price was well worth anything that may be considered a "down side". I loved it here, and we would certainly return. We camped at Lake Walcott State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

It is not a bad park, but not spectacular either. It's out of Rupert 16 miles so get groceries first. We stayed early in the season while passing through therefore the water was not turned on yet, nor was the dump station open. It's a quiet lake with a lot of walking and bike trails as well as a National Wildlife Refuge area. There is fishing only, no swimming. We camped at Lake Walcott State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Very nice park with beautiful lawns and trees. Some sites offer shade but the majority of the trees next to the sites aren't tall enough to cast much shade. Sites are level, they all have a fire ring that you can BBQ on and a pedestal BBQ too. There is no privacy between sites so get ready to wave hello to your neighbor! We had cellphone, Aircard (Verizon), and satellite reception. Good power service and very good water pressure. The town of Rupert is about 21 miles away if you need to buy anything. There's a Super Walmart there along with chain grocery stores. If you are 62 or older this park is offered at 50% off Mon. - Thurs. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Lake Walcott State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Lake Walcott State Park is adjacent to the 20,699 acre Minidoka wildlife refuge 11 miles northeast of Rupert, Idaho. It was built by the Civilian Convervation Corps in the 1930's. It has huge grassy day use areas shaded by big old cottonwood trees. Also, lakeside picnic areas, disc golf and separate tenting areas. The small RV area consists of 23 hookup sites, 14 tents and 2 cabins. RV sites are exposed, paved, and look rather new with good space between sites. Very clean facilities with separate shower rooms that offered plenty of hot water. Sites were a mix of pull through and back in; all were large and easy to navigate. Some can handle up to 60' rigs. The centerpiece of the 65 acre Park is the lake, quite large and open to boating and fishing. However, no swimming is permitted. This place is very popular as a venue for family reunions and can fill up. We visited on a weekday and there were only 5-6 other rigs in the park but the reservation board showed a full house for the weekend. We camped at Lake Walcott State Park in a Travel Trailer.
