This is the most amazing National Forest Service campground we have ever stayed in. It has had a fairly recent makeover with all new paved roads. This campground is not reserveable so once you get a site you do not have to worry about having to move. There is a 10 night limit. It is nestled right along the east side of Redfish lake which is a gorgeous crystal clear mountain lake in the heart of the Sawtooths. All sites have views of the lake but the far south end offers nice views, more shade and easy access to a small beach on the lake that is hardly used. There are no hookups. Verizon service was good. Vault toilets very clean. They were cleaned daily. Each site is very private with trees. Sites are improved with paved apron, a large sand square area for a tent, paved path to a patio area that is concrete with the picnic table, fire ring and gas grill stand. What a treat. Kept lots of dirt out of the motorhome. Try and get sites at far south end. There are several other campgrounds located on and near the lake. Dump station is about a mile or so up the road from this campground. Showers ($2) and laundry facility run by the Redfish Lake Lodge near the dump station. Put an extra quarter in the shower as hot water took some time to arrive. The camp host was outstanding and if you need to fill your tank he will give you the key to the faucet near the bathrooms to fill up. We camped at Sockeye at Redfish Lake in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Arrive with gas tank and pantry full. Good market in town but limited.

Would be a 10 with hook-ups. Easy access, big sites, asphalt roads with cement pads. This is just a beautiful campground with great camp hosts. If you like to dry camp this is heaven, it is first come with no reservations taken. Get there early and enjoy!!! Will visit again!! We camped at Sockeye at Redfish Lake in a Motorhome.

Sockeye is one of the half dozen NFS campground units at Redfish Lake South of Stanley. Newly renovated...large/long and wide asphalt pads, some single some double. No hook ups here. Dump station within a mile. Limited services. Gas available, no diesel, no propane in park...need to go to Stanley...about 15 minutes. Generator use from 8 am until 10 pm allowed...we did. Stunning setting in Sawtooth. Cold and wet when we were here. Park was not full. Maybe too early in season? No At&t...Verizon OK. Limited shots for satellite TV from Sockeye spots. Views of Lake and Sawtooth Mountains from sites 6-11. Stayed 3 nights. No reservations accepted in Sockeye unit. Other units had full reservations..no space. We would probably return if passing through. We camped at Sockeye at Redfish Lake in a Fifth Wheel.
