Seems like every site has a golf cart. According to park rules, you are supposed to have a drivers license to drive golf carts in the park. This is not enforced. There are several carts running around with young kids driving without adult supervision. Most golf carts are running at full speed, this includes carts driven by staff. Most of the permanent/full time sites look nice, but a large portion of them look like Cousin Eddie lives there. Want a nap? Forget it, between campsites blasting music and golf cart exhaust you'll need ear plugs. Not to mention the golf carts blasting music as they drive around, and around, and around. We camped at O'Connell's Yogi Bear Jellystone Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

We stayed here as part of the Thousand Trails Trails Collection add-on, so it was "free". We stayed ten nights, researching ancestors in the Rockford, IL, area. We thought the campground was really nice. When we arrived, we had been assigned a site and were to follow a leader to our site, but he could see we wouldn't fit and put us in a different site that was perfect for us. It was long enough, room to park our truck, a nice big tree for some shade, and on the end of the row so our front yard was spacious and relatively private. I don't remember having anyone right next to us the whole time we were there, although there were people a couple sites away, and in the rows in front and in back of us. We were close to the remote tent area, furthest away from the amenities, and that suited us just fine. All the sites in that area were on grass, so if it were rainy I can see where that could be a big issue, but we only had a couple days of rain and we were fine with our super-heavy trailer (26K) and truck (17K). When we arrived, we noticed the 50-amp plug looked like it had arced, so we ran the generator until we decided the 30-amp plug looked ok. The office sent someone out right away to look at it, and when he determined it was fried he replaced it right then and there! There were a lot of golf carts, and campers with no manners, but you find that everywhere, don't you? They can't keep tabs on everyone, and for the most part the drivers kept their speeds down and seemed safe. The park is HUGE, so we understood the golf cart use. It was fairly quiet while we were there, a bit busier on the weekends. It looks like there are a LOT of activities for the youngsters, which is obviously who this park caters to. We spent our time doing research and visiting relatives in the area. We really enjoyed our stay there, and would stay again. We camped at O'Connell's Yogi Bear Jellystone Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Not much close by, it's in the middle of farming country and corn. But the corn - OMG! Buy some if it's in season, it's amazing. Within an hour's drive of Rockford, and airport in Rochelle has a nice bar & grill on site - you can watch the parachute jumpers. Highway 2 and the park looked like a nice option, but the road was under construction so we'll save that for another time.

Site was on a pull thru on grass that looked like it could be baled for hay. Maintenance was not the best. Staff was friendly and somewhat helpful. My wife pointed out that one of the teetertotters was broken at the play ground across from us, one of the springs was not secured to the ground. The staff used some old rope to rope off this device, needless to say this did not stop some older kids from trying the teetertotter. A smaller child could get hurt on this teetertotter if he/she was trying to use it. No fire ring was provided just a burn scar for you to use to have campfire. Way too many golf carts and not very will monitored, driving way to fast over the posted 5 MPH speed limit. In fact we saw a golf cart rollover due to the speed that the cart owner was doing trying to make a turn at one of the pools. One of the passengers in the golf cart was slight injured, staff did show up and administered first aid to her. The only reason went to this park was for our granddaughters who wanted to see Yogi, Bubba and Cindy bear. We camped at O'Connell's Yogi Bear Jellystone Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

$77.00 a night for a horrible experience. Stayed here over Labor Day weekend 2017. Had 2 sites. Sites were adequate but most sites took quite a bit of maneuvering for anything over 25 ft. Almost every activity you have to pay extra for. If you are looking for a nice place to get away from it all STAY AWAY from here. All the campers in our section (all visiting guests) were quiet and courteous. Quiet hours are from 11:00 pm to 7 am and everyone abided by those except the park itself. Saturday night they had a DJ that was suppose to perform from 7-10 pm. It was loud banging music and it didn't end at 10 he kept going until 11:30 and then we were all treated to the whooping and hollering by the people returning to there campsites. Finally quiet at midnight. With small children throughout the campground there were a lot of sleepless babies because of the loud noise. You would think it was an outdoor concert at Grant Park! Ridiculous. We tried to go swimming on Sunday but all 3 pools were so crowded you couldn't get in. Capacity says 60 but there was a lot more than that and no one to enforce the rules. The drunken adults took up the hot tubs staking out their territories with their coolers full of alcoholic drinks. So we decided to go to the beach. The ranger station backs right up to the beach. We were inundated with boom box music that was so loud you couldn't even carry on a conversation. No one from the staff came and asked them to turn it down. The rules state that you can't have music, tv etc that is so loud it can be heard in the site next to you at any time. HA! Walking 200 feet down the lakeshore by the rental cabins you could still hear it. Don't tell me those "rangers" couldn't hear it. We were willing to pay the outrageous site fees because we thought it would be like Yogi Bear in WI. Not even close. Way too many golf carts speeding around driven by kids-it is dangerous on the roads throughout the park. A very unpleasant weekend. We camped at O'Connell's Yogi Bear Jellystone Park in a Travel Trailer.

Holiday weekend, expected busy. This place was packed with people, kids, bikes, cars and golf carts. The golf cart traffic was horrible and constant. Young kids driving fast. I felt unsafe walking my dogs on the gravel road. If you want any kind of peace and quiet, camp somewhere else. This is a big, loud and rambunctious campground from 8am until 11pm. Campsites had mower chewed up trash. They attempted to keep the bathrooms clean. Everything is extra including wifi. We camped at O'Connell's Yogi Bear Jellystone Park in a Travel Trailer.

We couldn't fit on the site they directed us to and we asked for a different one, which they gave. However the site number on the electric box did not match the number on the campground map. We were the only ones camping in that section. All the rest were rental cabins or annual sites. The pool in our section was closed the first day but open after that. The hot tub was closed the whole time we were there. The staff answered our questions but were not very friendly. Wifi was not free. Decided to rent a paddle boat and that office did not open on time. We waited over 30 minutes for them to open. We saw a lawn mower in our section one day but he did not mow our site or those right by us. It appeared there were only young adults working here. All they wanted to do was ride around on their carts. Not sure if I would stay there again. The grass was so tall I couldn't put down my patio mat. My family has stayed at O'Connell's Yogi Bear Jellystone park for the past 6 years and we have enjoyed it very much. Sites are spacious and offer some shade. Site surface is sand and grass, featuring a fire ring, picnic table and patio.

We stayed in rental units, but now they have increased the price so much we can no longer afford to stay here. We camped at O'Connell's Yogi Bear Jellystone Park in a Motorhome.

Absolutely disgusting! We arrived around 8:00pm and left by 10:30pm. The place was dirty, run down and had a bad feeling. Our motorhome was scratched by the tree branches as we pulled out. We will never return. We called the manager the following day and he did not return our call. We usually love Jelly Stone parks.

This one does not meet any of the normal standards. We camped at O'Connell's Yogi Bear Jellystone Park in a Motorhome.

This was my second visit here. I was with my daughter and her family. They like it for the activities for my granddaughters. We camp in a motorhome and tow a car. The first thing you notice is the extreme angle the entrance has with the road. I guess that's why there very few motorhomes there. Check-in was an ordeal due to the unfriendly and indifferent staff. If we could have gotten a refund, the weekend could have ended at that time. There was another family with us so we had three sites reserved. They had us and the other couple in the wrong sites, but since we were all together, switching them should have been easy. Nope, not without talking to the other family, who wasn't coming to the next day. We went to a fourth site. The lack of cooperation in resolving the issue was something I've rarely encountered.

The campsites are quite large, and there is no designated pad to park an RV on. Also, there are no permanent fire rings, so driving into an old fire pit is possible. Although they had quite a bit of rain the day before we got there, the ground was quite firm. The water and electric hook-ups are nicely elevated, so connecting is easy. The sewer is not right next to the water which is desirable.

There is no cable TV and even a digital antenna won't get a strong signal. We did not come to watch TV, but the nightly news and weather would have been nice.

Wi-Fi is available, but there is a hefty fee to get Internet access. They had a coupon for 4 hours free, but when I inquired about it at the office, I was met with more indifference. But, by this time I was used to it.

We were there in the spring and it got cold one night. So much so, my daughter emptied a LP tank. They have a very short window (½ hour) that you can get a tank filled, which of course you would not know about until you try. When she did go during the window time, at first she was ignored.

I do not have to stay at this campground; I will not again. We camped at O'Connell's Yogi Bear Jellystone Park in a Motorhome.

This park has a lot to offer. And it could be great if management would actually enforce the rules they have posted everywhere. Rules when you make a reservation, rules on the web site, rules in the front office, rules on the map, rules on the schedule of activities. BUT - most people who camp here break the rules. Quiet hours. What's that? No golf carts during quiet hours? Lie. Map say 7 MPH, signs in the campground say 10 MPH - right! It's the Chicagoland Speedway for all the numerous golf carts! And the dust. WOW. We found the staff to be on and off. Sometimes very friendly and helpful. Othert imes, just acting like we were bothering them. There are a lot of seasonal trailers in the park, and they are very well maintained. My issue is that if I pay $65 a night for a campground, I expect to be wowed. And not nickeled-and-dimed for every event. The mini golf was $3. The course was debris-ridden and on some holes, in disrepair. The mini-golf was typically unmanned. The weekend we camped, there was a fireworks show and that was pretty good. It was longer than I expected and very nice. This park is LARGE. Be prepared to walk. Everywhere or spend $60 a day to rent a cart. We camped at O'Connell's Yogi Bear Jellystone Park in a Travel Trailer.

Wonderful park for the grandkids. They have such a good time here. We have been coming here for years. They used to have WI-FI so I had to use an aircard. Satellite reception was great. The area we stay in has no defined parking spaces so you just park on the grass next to the utilities (although it was quite level). Several pools and lots for the kids to do here. We will definitely come back again and again. We camped at O'Connell's Yogi Bear Jellystone Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here again for Columbus Day weekend (Halloween weekend). Great time as usual. Excellent haunted house and Halloween activities. Always lots to do for young and old. The golf carts seemed to be more controlled this year, maybe they took everyone's advice. They even stop all vehicle traffic (including golf carts) during trick or treat time, and it`s enforced! We are already booked for next year. Can`t wait! We camped at O'Connell's Yogi Bear Jellystone Park in a Travel Trailer.

This campground is designed for young families. Our children are grown so we just used it for camping. None of the attractions were open during our stay. Our site needed mowing. There was a little bit of gravel, but it had been overtaken by grass and weeds. The staff was somewhat friendly. They have very strict rules. We wanted our daughter and her two children to join us for a Sunday evening cook-out just for a couple of hours, but it would have cost $7 per person just for them to enter the campground. I could understand an admission fee if the attractions were open, but they weren't. I will not return to this campground. We camped at O'Connell's Yogi Bear Jellystone Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground was very busy when we arrived here on a weekend. There were kids everywhere, and all seemed to have a good time. Everyone disappeared Sunday afternoon and the week days were very quiet. Staff was accommodating, and gave us a couple of choices for campsites. We picked the longer site, with satellite TV access. Both AT&T and Verizon worked intermittently here, mostly not. Office was dim and musty: it could use a new carpet and some updating. The site itself was fine: everything worked, there was plenty of room, the site was level. We would return. We camped at O'Connell's Yogi Bear Jellystone Park in a Motorhome.
