1 Park near Carmi, Illinois
May 2015 - $16.00
This campground has many positive features and a few negative ones. It is situated on a wooded hill. Most sites are good size and shady. All are full hookup and have concrete parking pads. The park is in the country so it is generally quiet. The hookups work well except that the water has an off taste even with a water filter (we ended up buying drinking water). At $16 per night it is a bargain. The bathrooms are quite old but everything seems to work well and the showers are good size. Because of the age it is hard to tell how clean the bathrooms are, but they are reasonably okay and certainly not overly used since everyone has full hookups. New this year is WiFi which works okay if you are close enough to the antennas (located at the bathhouse) but not so great if you are not. TV reception (Evansville) was okay as was AT&T cell phone reception. They generally do not take reservations. When we were there on an early May weekend they were about 2/3 full. It seems like most campers were from relatively local areas. Getting to the campground is somewhat a challenge especially if it is your first time here. All roads are narrow and pretty rough. We came through Carmi. There are other routes but one is just as difficult as another. Note that when the road inside the park branches, take the right hand branch next to the pond to get to the campground - the left branch goes to the picnic area. We would stay here again when we want to be in this area. - RXA-ADM
Apr 2015 - $16.00
Great city park campground in a very quiet setting. Large trees for shade are no problem for big rvs, they have been pruned. Hiking trails and clean restrooms. Picnic table and fire pit at each site. Free firewood provided by staff from downed trees in the park. Full hookups all for $16. We camped in a 5th wheel. - Charlie M.
Aug 2012 - $16.00
Pleasant city run park/campground. Nice size level, concrete pads (several are big enough for a 45 footer). Many sites have water on the wrong side, so bring extra water hose. Very quiet, wooded location about 1 mile North of Carmi. Enter only from Carmi as roads from North are narrow, have over hanging trees, gravel and potholes. Would stay again. - Jamboee89
