Basic water/electric parking lot campground. Three campground locations one north of Southside Boat Club (3 sites), two east(8 or 10 sites) and a somewhat woodsy area, (3 sites). Do not follow GPS that takes you to City Hall.
If coming from south, take first street on left (2nd or 1st Ave ) immediately past the bridge which traversesthe Mississippi River. Proceed a few blocks to Banks Street, turn left, go over railroad tracks, turn right.
If coming from the north turn right just before the bridge and follow the same directions. Check out which site you want. Pay at the bar in the Southside Boat Club. There are no reservations. The number at Southside is 319-524-7122. They were helpful with directions and basic availability questions.
This park is located directly on the river. Watching barges is interesting. A lot more tending by the city for cleanliness and upkeep would certainly improve ratings. Several workers had trailers in the middle park and were loud at 2 am returning from their shift. However, with all the railroad tracks across the street, that noise was minimal. I did not feel safe to walk my dog after dark, but no one bothered us except one loud mouth "barking" near us at 2 am. The park provided the over night stay we needed.
The signs at each campground only indicate charges: $16 regular, $14 seniors. No other information given. Electrical hookup box had several spider egg sacs. We had a 30 amp, 34' motorhome. Parallel parked in the middle campground immediately to right of the Southside Boat Club. - Proud Rome Georgian
Oct 2011 - $16.00
We did not stay at this site, however we drove through and checked it out. It is right along the Mississippi just down the street from the stern wheel paddle boat. Some sites are gravel, some dirt, and some concrete. They have 20,30, and 50 amp hook ups, water that is shared between several sites and no sewer hook ups and I'm not sure where a dump station is. The site sits between the river and a RxR switching yard that can be pretty loud. There's a boat ramp here too. I only added this site because it wasn't mentioned in the reviews of the area at all and to give another option if you're in the area. Contact the City of Keokuk, Iowa for more details. - pumper9x9

Mar 2018 - $27.00
After trying the state park and finding it lovely but up on a big hill and basically closed (no water, but electricity is on), we drove over to this camp. It's a surprisingly nice find. It's a Community of Christ camp facility, but they do not even ask about your religion. It's a large camp with many cabins and a large athletic field (great for dogs), among other things. But they only have maybe 10 RV sites. The sites are very good though - long concrete pads, pull-through with FHU, and very level (what a relief after so many campgrounds that weren't). If there isn't incoming traffic, they will let you leave your RV on site for the day while you go sightseeing in Nauvoo. The roads to the park are narrow but passable and there are some potholes in the driveway so just take it slow. - MNroadie
Jul 2017 - $26.00
Pull thru sites with 2 campers end to end required 50 ft power cords. No shade but adequate for the 3 nights stay. I would stay here again. Several of the RV sites have been used to place "cabins" on the pads. - SunflowerTraveler
Sep 2011 - $24.00
Not a bad place. Roads getting into park are narrow. Once in the park, it was easy to get around. The hookups are a little screwy. Make sure you have extra long hoses. The wife and I stayed here for 3 days. Quiet and peaceful. Didn't use the restroom or showers. Did peek in. They are a little outdated but functional. If you want a nice quiet time, this is the place. We will definitely return. - Harry F

We stayed here three nights. This campground is owned by the Community of Christ (formerly known as the Reorganized LDS Church). Do NOT follow your GPS to get here. Get directions from the manager of the park. It was a nice and quiet place and if you walk down past the large campground hall there is a beautiful view of the river. Stupendous thunderstorm while we were there. The spaces are sufficient. No Wi-Fi or cable TV. We enjoyed exploring the area. We would return. - shovelguy
Jul 2006 - $30.00
It was $30 until I complained that site next to me was $15 and then it was changed. This is the only privately owned park in Nauvoo. What else can I say. - yaxche
Jul 2006 - $23.00
There are not a lot of choices in Nauvoo for large RV's so you stay at this park even though it is not the best. Sites are small and there are rigs arriving late at night and leaving early in the morning. Trash needed to be picked up, grass needed to be cut, restrooms needed to be cleaned, and roads needed repair. The staff was friendly, the power, water, and sewer all worked, so how can you complain. This is a seasonal park. - Zimectrin

Jul 2017 - $20.00
Our space was uneven but nice and wooded and quiet. We had neighbors but not very close by. Able to put our chairs out and have lots of room. Pit toilet was yuck and not lit at all. Scary for the little ones. We had a 30 amp plug. Water and sewer were very accessible. I would definitely visit this camp ground again. - Jennifer vos
Oct 2016 - $20.00
This is a great place to visit. The park rangers are helpful. This park is in the middle of town. It was the best trip my wife and I made this year. The lots are not very level, making it hard to reconnect and requiring tri-levelers in our case. However the forest is beautiful with eagles in the trees. There is no water on the spots but hydrants scattered around. Take water. Dump station available. The town is a great historic location and the people amazing. If you are interested in the history of the Mormon religion you will find it a great visit. - saxmaninmo
Oct 2015 - $15.00
We rated this park poor as it more suited for small trailers than big rigs with tows. The setting is in a pine forest on top of a hill. Really nice and quite. No Internet or cell service. The showers were nice. They had heat too.
Town had little open on Sunday when we were there out of season. We would not return. - travelboundnbertha

Jul 2017 - $23.00
Stayed over a week. This place is old-school. Meaning very little info on website, no reservation system so no confirmation email, no campground map/info provided upon checking in, no cell service/slow internet. And that's fine, just be prepared. Campground is for sale, so changes could be coming. If heading south on Hwy 218 and you turn right onto 353rd St/243rd Ave - be sure to take the gravel road (353rd), NOT the paved road (243rd). Check-in was quick. Gentleman in office was quiet; if you want any info on the facilities (like Wifi password) you'll need to ask. Made me feel stupid for saying I was a Good Sam member (there are signs all over stating they're a Good Sam park). He said, "I can give you the daily rate if you have to have your discount..." With no info on the website to know ahead of time, I had no idea what the daily rate was or if there was a weekly rate. I felt the price was good for the value provided. In four years of RVing we have never had so much trouble trying to level our 40' fifth wheel as we did here. The site is mostly gravel; ramps up in the middle, lengthwise down the site. Pulled to front of site to be in line with sewer connection, but tires kept ending up off the ground no matter how many boards we added/subtracted under the jacks. Had to reconnect truck and back up to middle of site at point where our long sewer hose just reached. Tires still not fully on the ground. We did not ask to be moved to another site as they looked similar. Pull thru site very long, probably 80-90'. Hookups worked as desired. Neighbor RV's slide was 8' from our slide. Some trees provided shade but didn't hit RV. Firepit had garbage in it. Otherwise place was very well maintained and nice. Deadzone for connectivity. No AT&T service; no Verizon. Satellite internet is the Wifi in the campground; works well if you sit right outside the office, barely worked inside our RV at our site. Mile down the road was AT&T LTE service. - FrozenWaters
Sep 2016 - $23.00
This is a very nice old park. Good service with good facilities, clean and neat, all very well maintained. Check-in was easy with helpful owners who live in homes adjoining the park.
Gravel roads and pads. The spaces are close, but not impossible. Hookup was well placed and easy.
Lot of old growth trees, lots of shade with additional plantings and landscaping. There is spacious grass for walking, but area between spaces is pretty much all gravel with a hint of grass.
There is no cable. Turn your antenna like everyone else and you'll get adequate OTA channels. Wi-Fi was good in our spot, #5, near the office.
Laundry is very reasonable, but only 2 of each .
Bathrooms are dated but sparkling clean and comfortable...even decorated.
Walking trails have been cut into the woods. It is a real walk in the woods as the trails are a little rough, but interesting.
All this said, I now must add that a reservation is recommended. This park is almost all filled with long term employed. The trailers are neat with some long-term clutter like large furniture pieces and big freezers outside.
Everyone appears to be working, it is quiet and controlled. Trailers as family homes seems to be a sign of our times.
This is a relaxing stop from hours of driving. It is not a resort. It is a safe, secure and quiet spot along the way. We'll be back. - Jack B

Hickory Haven Campground in Keokuk, Iowa is a FHU, 30/50A pull thru's with shade, picnic tables, fire ring, graveled sites with grass patios. Plenty of space for my 40' Phaeton towing an 18' enclosed trailer still attached with room to spare in my long pull thru site!! Bath house, showers and laundry services. A small office/store staffed by very friendly people. Park is well maintained. I have AT&T cell service that does not reach the park. The wifi is directed towards the full timer section so to get consistent service, you need to be close to the office. I sit in the laundry room or the large covered patio to get service. I have also traveled into Keokuk to Wendy's or Taco Bell for their free wifi!!! And you can get a little snack while using the Internet. No cable available, but clear views of sky for satellite access. A great, quiet park close to Historic Nauvoo. I would return for sure. Good Sam discount applies. - kihei7

A bit out of the ordinary place. It's a city park and you have to go up to city hall to pay. They had 1 porta johnny ( that we didn't use) and no showers. The dump station is up the hill behind the water department. The hook ups are 50 amp or 20 amp be sure and check the voltage before you plug into the 50 amp. The sign down there says it's 220 but I was reading just over 120v on my meter. This a a pretty quiet park but you can hear the trains going by on the other side of the river. Folks in town that I talked to and visited with were very friendly and had lots of time to talk. Over in The down side of that one is that it's right next to the rail yard. We planned on staying 1 or 2 night but have been here for 5 nights so far due to mechanical issues with the toad. All in all a pleasant park that has Verizon MiFi that works. We had the upper sites pretty much to ourselves in late October. - pumper9x9
Jun 2011 - $15.00
Great view of the Mississippi River. Sites from 12-20 are located a bit farther south and are on higher ground (important because the lower numbered sites are especially likely to flood). Water is shared by 2-3 sites. Concrete pads are short, but the large well packed gravel area by the upper sites can accommodate big rigs. Portable restrooms only (we didn't use them). Electric is ONLY 50 amp or 20 amp (no 30 amp, so rigs needing 30 would require a 50 to 30 adapter). Pay at City Hall in town (as advised on sign at park). Dump located behind 218 Main St. is easily accessible. This is a small, friendly town. No reservations, but you may want to call the phone number, which is for the town hall, to ask about flooding. The "book now" link on the city's webpage should not be used (http://www.rubbertree.com.au/warsaw/lodging.htm). Advised that reservations for camping are no longer made through this site. - Ken and Lee
Aug 2009 - $15.00
Wonderful park if you want quiet and be right on the river. Dump available in the small town. Boat ramp available. Great site to watch barges up and down the river, beautiful sunsets and lots of geese. We stayed here in 42' Class A. Friendly town and very historic, too. Park is growing and improving - horse shoes going on now. - lindalu

Very nice CG. Flat & level, great for bicycles. Good utilities. The 50 amp sites are marked on the post. Very helpful camp host. The park is HUGE! There is a road that circles the lake and provides access to the other campgrounds (primitive, and partial hook-up). I would not recommend traveling that road with a motor home or long fifth wheel - many short turns and narrow roads. While we were there, there were radio controlled airplane enthusiasts flying in a large field adjacent to the CG. There is a nature center also adjacent to the CG, basic but interesting. Several miles of flat trails run through the CG and surrounding areas. There is a restaurant at the marina in the campground but we didn't try it. The marina also sells bait and rents boats & canoes. The CG is wooded, but not so much as to interfere with satellite reception at most sites. Good dump station. At the time we were there, the shower house was closed for repairs (roof). Water pressure good. - Bama Camper
Oct 2017 - $20.00
Park was quiet and clean. Facilities were adequate, what we expected from a state park and rarely used them. Shower house was closed at this time of year. Very peaceful, tucked away campground. Gravel, spacious sites. Plenty of shade in the back of the campground. All sites were back-ins. Plenty of room for my 35ft motorhome with a tow. - mm1407
Apr 2017 - $15.00
We were looking for a quiet place to stay in the general area to break up a long drive and manage tanks. We're self contained and don't use the facilities. We stayed on a week day in mid April. This campground is very nice. The campsites on the perimeter were good sized and relatively private with a mix of shade and sun. The inside sites were a bit smaller, less private and mostly in the sun. All sites had electric and we're mostly level. There is a dump station near the entrance, and water through the the sites. There's no wifi. There is adequate Verizon and no ATT cell coverage. The camp host was helpful and friendly. We paid $15 with a senior discount. - dsvt

Very pleasant. Nothing fancy, but a good price. A bit of train noise. The gravel road is no biggie, just maybe a half mile. No serious washboard on the road. Great fishing in the pond. Caught 6 or so 12" bass in about 30 minutes. Some construction workers staying here in early September. Apparently being foreclosed though with an auction within a couple months. - User988
Jun 2009 - $14.00
The road to this facility is about one mile of gravel. While it is fairly well maintained there are still some rough spots, but it is certainly passable. This is a very well designed and very well kept facility. The host lives on site and is very gracious and pleasant. The sites are well spaced and roomy. There are no concrete pads, all of the sites are grass but its good grass that didn't seem muddy. The center section spaces have no trees. Electrical boxes and faucets are in very good condition. What their website doesn't show is a small lake/large pond with 7-8 spaces that backup to the water giving a pristine view of nature. We could give this facility a ten except for two points: quite a few insects and proximity to train tracks (about 1/4 mile away). We counted 5 or 6 trains during the night. While the noise didn't bother us terribly (my wife and I both like the sound of trains) those who are light sleepers may find it challenging to get a good night's sleep. One good thing is there were no full-timers and the campground was fairly empty. For us the benefits outweighed the train noise but it bears mentioning. - kcjonib

We stay here only because we have family here. This is owned by the city and not advertised. The telephone numbers listed is to city hall. The site is mainly used for people that come to our rodeo each year. The sites are all grass and pretty level. The showers are open rooms and the toilets are port-a-potties. I had never been to this site before a friend recommended it to us. I will say that we found it very relaxing and one of the most friendly sites we've been to. The residents were friendly and helpful, it was very nice to be able to buy bait and supplies right on the grounds. We enjoyed getting to know the people there. The grounds were very clean and peaceful and the owner was very nice and helpful. We will visit them again for sure. - Silly_Sam
Jul 2010 - $0.00
This campground was not at all like pictured. We had planned to stay here on our way down the Mississippi River. Everything was run down and in poor condition. The photos do not represent the actual condition of the campground. We were very disappointed and very angry that we went out of our way to find this place. The review comparing this campground to the movie Deliverance is very accurate. We did not stay because of the very poor condition and the awful feeling we got when we drove through the campgrounds. - Dilyte
Jun 2009 - $15.00
When you approach the entrance to this campground you see a laser cut log archway with the name and you think "Wow... that's neat!" But once you pass beneath the archway you can almost hear the Deliverance banjo music and feel the bad-canoe-trip shivers up your spine. This "campground" is probably 50-60% full of old, disgusting, ramshackle campers packed into the spaces like so many tenement sardines. When I asked the campground host if there were spaces available, to his credit he attempted to squeeze me in, but the spot he suggested was next to the restroom building and there would have been no way for me to accommodate my 31' Class C. This place had such an eery, creepy feel to it we just turned around and left. Were I able to give this place a zero, I definitely would. Its surroundings give it a tremendous amount of potential, but the full-timers living there make it completely untenable for anyone looking for a comfortable, relaxing place to stay. WE DID NOT STAY. - kcjonib
