We were greeted by the office upon our arrival. Registration was pretty painless. You get an escort to the site: 5 mph, and told that you must park straight, and no part of your vehicles can be on the grass. For us, that was very inconvenient. The site was short, with a tree in the way. In order to put our awning down, we had to park in a way where our vehicle had to be parked elsewhere. They did offer a vacant site nearby, then changed us to another site and the final night, we had to park in overflow parking. The restrooms and showers are very clean. The pool is nice, maybe a tad too warm. But we stayed when temps were in the 90s for a good long time.

The golf is paved asphalt and the balls roll all over the place. Good thing it's free. The kids played for a little bit on the park, but said it was boring. The campground itself was very clean. There is a LOT of highway noise. But with the fan running for noise control, it was not a big deal. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Make sure to tell the office the total feet of your whole rig. NOT just your trailer. We had to disconnect and park our truck on another site (and another, and another) through our visit because you CAN NOT park crooked, or on the grass.

Double J Campground and RV Park, owner at Double J Campground and RV Park responded to this review

The weekend this reviewer stayed at the park was the weekend of the state fair when the park is always full. It was a real problem this years when the state fair campground was flooded by a flash flood. To accommodate campers we had very limited options on moving people to spaces with more room and having them park in extra spots.

This campers advice to tell a campground your total length (Camper & Vehicle) is great.
If every reservation included camper length and overall length campground owners would have better success putting the right camper in the right spot.

Plenty room between sites. Management and personnel very friendly. Easy access to I-55 and Springfield attractions. Management was extremely helpful with getting my cellphone, found by another camper, returned to me. Wifi was very good also. Pool was large enough and clean. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Nice campground for a overnight stay. Easy check in, and escort to the site. We were in P 109 with a Class A 35'. Good for satellite. Water and electric are to the front. The park has rules but is well kept. There is a dog walk area, nice grass but is not fenced in. Verizon has 3 bars and good for data. Park WiFi was good at our site, but park was not full. Verizon signal had 3 bars. We did not notice any freeway noise at our site. Our site was long enough to take our class A with a toad without unhooking. Site was gravel and level. There is a picnic table at each site. There are a few cable stations, and more over the air stations. The laundry has hours so you may want to check. No problem with navigating to the site, roads wide and flat. Would stay here again. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

There's a good pool, mini golf was odd but the kids loved it. There was some road noise but not enough to keep you awake. They recycle which was great. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Great park. Just a short drive out of Springfield and all the tourist sites. Mgt. was friendly, helpful and professional. The condition of the park showed their pride in it. Sites level, clean, and easily accessible. Most sites have shade and all are long enough for any RV, tow vehicle or towed vehicle with room to spare and set apart from the neighboring sites to feel comfortable. Would we stay here again? Absolutely. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Extremely clean. Friendly hosts, large pet area across from site. Stayed in site P104, which was level. Moderate spacing between sites next to us. Mini golf left much to be desired but the pool was great. Large selection of RV parts at camp store. Definite interstate noise but not too distracting. Family of 4 stayed one night. Would stay again if traveling through. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We loved this place! Saw it from the freeway as we were driving into town (heading to the Illinois State Fair Campgrounds, as we thought it would be closer). Beautiful place! Long pull-thru, gravel, level sites. Ours had nice shade trees, near the "corn fields" (cool view!), fire pits, nice cable, clean place, wonderful staff. Only added 10 minutes to our travel into town. So worth it!! The only down side was the bugs (not their fault) loved sitting outside in the evening with the cool breezes, but so did the bugs... We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you like Lincoln, you better plan on spending at least a couple of days there! A lot to see and do, the Capitol (Old & New), his museum, his home, etc. Not everything is open every day either, so that makes a difference too. Great stop!

Just happened upon this place late in the day after we had left a previous park where we had reservations and the sites were too small for our rig. This place is a gem, would definitely be a destination place for someone wanting a nice long weekend especially if you have kids. The spaces are large with lots of shade and nice grass and the park was very clean. Lots of amenities, small store, propane for sale, and a putt putt golf course. Our site was a large pull-thru with plenty of room for coach and tow. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for two nights as we saw the sights in Springfield and this campground was a good base location. It was easy access on and off the Interstate, which you can hear from the campground. Our site was a little weird in that electrical and water was near the front; the sewer near the back. The campground was clean and well run. We would stay at Double JJ again if we are ever in the area. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a nice campground in the Springfield area to visit the local attractions. Easy on/off the interstate but noise could be a problem for those sensitive to it. We were escorted to our site and then staff came back a little later to check on us and make sure we had no issues. We were in one of the long pull through sites out in the open. Most of the sites are pull throughs. Sites were fairly close together and gravel. We did not use or look at the laundry or bathrooms since we are self contained. Hook ups were good and the site was long enough to adjust for the sewer hook up. Provided Internet was dependable and Verizon cell service was 5 bars. Pool and putt putt golf but did not see anyone using them. There are some seasonals and long term campers but their sites were clean and neat. Everyone seemed to drive the posted speed limit so dust was not a problem. The trees are nicely trimmed and not a problem as the majority of the campground has many trees. No mats or rugs allowed on the grass. We had a picnic table and fire pit. Fuel is available in nearby Chatham. We would stop here again. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Easy trip into Springfield. If you are driving a big truck/RV and want to visit the Lincoln Museum, drive to the far end of the parking garage and park in the bus parking. Pay fee at the west end of the parking garage. Lots of things to do and see in the area.

We have stayed here several times before as it is a good stop for an overnight. It would be a great place to stay if visiting Springfield. Sites and roads are gravel which is naturally dusty but the sites are relatively wide and long enough for big rigs with tow. Nice and helpful staff. Wifi is OK. Some highway noise but not bad at night. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a good park to stay a night or for a few days. It is near the interstate, but the noise is not bad. The sites are in the shade, level, gravel, and spacious. The staff is friendly and escort you to your site. Make sure that you tell the office when you check in that you have satellite, and they may be able to put you into a site to use it. TGhe campground is near many restaurants. We stayed here in a 39 foot fifth wheel and would stay here again if we are in the area. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Convenient campground to Springfield activities. Campground is well maintained. The check in process was seamless and they really take nice care of the property. The campground is right off of interstate 55 and when the air wasn't running in the coach, you could hear noise from the interstate. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Very friendly at check in and the campground looked great at first glance. Heavy noise from the highway. -Too tight for big rigs. We narrowly missed hitting a tree while trying to navigate our way out of spot. The spot was so tight that we had to have several tries to successfully exit the site without hitting the motorhome parked next to us and the travel trailer directly across from us. The electric hook up was to the very front of the site, making it necessary to have an extra power cord, and the sewer hook up was at least 18" above ground, making it necessary to physically assist in the dumping of the tanks. Our friends were directed into a site that was so tight to enter that they struck a protruding tree stump that should have been taken out or burned to the ground immediately after cutting down the tree. It did damage to their unit and the entire skirt had to be replaced. The escort was very rude and flip, and completely to blame for misdirecting them and not warning them properly. No apologies were given and he actually blamed our friends for hitting the stump. The bathroom was 90 degrees, so taking a shower to escape the heat and stress of the day,. was not a good idea at that time. There were five of us in the caravan that night and we all had similar issues with the tightness of the sites, the bizarre hook up situation, and the difficulty exiting those sites. We (all)cancelled for our return trip home and will never stay here again. NOT BIG RIG FRIENDLY. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
