This RV park was great in many ways. Easy access off of I 55, most sites are pull through, most are level, with full hookups and 50 amp. Clean showers, restrooms and laundry room. It is close to I 55 but the noise level from the interstate was not bad at all. The only problem we had was 1 member of the staff was VERY rude. He barked out orders like a drill sergeant. ( Why treat paying customers like crap?) The rest of the staff was very friendly. The site we were assigned was just long enough for our 39 ft fith wheel and truck, but they do have sites for big rigs. We camped at Double J in a fith wheel. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a well managed and well-maintained park. Sites are level and utilities are well located. If you are there to see the Lincoln attractions this park is nicely located about 7 miles away. I did feel like it was a little overpriced for the time of the year since the pool was closed. Would stay here again. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground has just about everything you could want - easy on and off I-55, pull through gravel sites, good interior roadways, recreation area with lots of stuff to do, pool, dog walk area, laundry, and camp store. It is close to all the sights in Springfield. The staff was super friendly and helpful. My only (silly) complaint was that the wifi didn't always work. Given everything else this campground had to offer, I'd say it was one of the best we've stayed in during our four years of full time travel around the U.S. I'll not only be back when in the area, I'd opt to live here if I could!! We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lots of Lincoln sites: Lincoln Tomb, Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum (DON'T miss the museum), Lincoln Home National Park, the Old State Capitol where Lincoln worked. Also, see the Dana -Thomas house built by Frank Lloyd Wright.

Nice place to stop. Sites are a little close and many are heavily shaded. We wanted to use our satellite so we were shown a pull through perfect for satellite. Wifi was good. Interior roads are gravel as are the sites. Grounds are well manicured and maintained. We will stay here again in the future. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a great stop right off I-55 just south of Springfield. We have stayed here multiple times and always feel right at home. The owners keep adding to the amenities and keep the park up very nicely. I used the laundry this time...very clean and nicely decorated. There is a choice of places to walk our dogs. A "Go-to" when we travel through IL. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Clearly designed by someone who thought of the campers. Night spot light at bathrooms to help find at night. Signs noting storm shelter, nearest ER. All sites pull thru; offer free camping space for community not for profit groups, ie cub scouts, girl scouts, others. Clean! Quiet. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Tent Trailer.

Great jogging along historic Route 66 that the campground is located on. Good camp store but anything special should be picked up in town before going to campground. Not much around it. Tell them I said hi and thanks again for great service.

Frankly, I didn't expect the series of little things that make staying here so very nice. The entire campground is neatly trimmed and tidy yet has "camping, outdoor character." I walked around and took photos of the hook-up pedestals and the white sewer locating sticks because they were all very neat, well placed, and make it easy to align when arriving to set up. The pool was very clean. The flashing yellow lights out near the entrance were on after dark to help us as strangers easily find the turn on a 55 mph roadway. Free mini-gold, shuffleboard, etc. was a nice touch. Identifying storm shelters right on the campground flyer is something every central plains campground should do. Kudos! Even our reservation confirmation indicated a specific site in advance and that was, indeed, our site upon arrival. Nice trees and some good shade, just as I had asked -- that doesn't happen very often. I could go on but you get the idea. Well done. Perfect place to stay to visit Lincoln Land. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Everything about this place is great.....friendly and helpful staff, guide to site, roads easy to negotiate, well-groomed level gravel pads, nice grass between sites, cable TV, good wifi (slow during peak use), great dog walk area. Very convenient to Lincoln sights downtown with Walmart on same road on way back. Verizon cell and hotspot worked well. Couldn't ask for more. Would definitely stay again. WOW! I lived in Springfield and Chatham, IL over 25 years ago and what a change in this campground. We are coming back for a full week later this month. Office staff and others are friendly and go the extra mile. 48 channel cable with a guide channel was clear and varied. Without a doubt, this is the best campground in the area if you are visiting the Lincoln Sites in Springfield and New Salem. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Nice park but not one handicapped space and no spaces with any concrete. Had a 45 ft MH & was assigned to a space for 40 ft rig (plenty of other spaces throughout park). The daytime park workers were beyond rude when I pulled up close to let my handicapped wife out close to the door (two different employees on two consecutive days). Due to employees attitudes, pulled out after two nights. Stayed at this park several years ago before current owner made the purchase and upgraded park. Will stay at elsewhere next time. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Double J is a stones throw from Springfield, Illinois home to state capital building, state fairgrounds, Abraham Lincoln library and museum. Lots of area activities for adults and children. About 1 1/2 hours north of St Louis, Mo. Park has Chatham city water (treated) but on septic system. Our power showed 114 & 115 volts on each side of the 50 amp legs.

Double J Campground and RV Park, owner at Double J Campground and RV Park responded to this review

1. When Camper arrived we were never told his wife was handicapped until after he was in site overnight and his car was parked in the road. 2. He arrived with no reservation. He personally selected his site from our map, told the workers what site he would take because it was empty. He selected a site 10 feet to short for his RV and one that was away from our restrooms with no steps. 3. If the workers did not put him in that site he would talk to the owner and get what he wants. Reservations were moved to give him his selected site. He asked and paid for only 2 nights. It was always his plan. While all sites are gravel we do our best to place handicapped campers near the restrooms and on the very large firm gravel sites. If they insist on a different site, its makes life difficult for everyone. It also makes life difficult when they do not have a handicapped mirror tag and threaten the workers with the fact he is a retired state police office.

This is a really nice park, easily accessible to I-55 and close to downtown Springfield. The registration staff were very friendly and helpful, giving us literature to help plan our visit to the area. We were escorted to our site and given help to position the trailer to access all the connections as the sewer was set back. The site is packed river rock and was level. The bath house in the center of the park is brand new and spotless. Although quite close to the interstate, any traffic noise was well masked by our AC. The store carries extensive RV accessories. We would stay here again without hesitation. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The Abraham Lincoln museum was very good and well worth a visit. Walking through his tomb was quite moving. Whilst in Springfield, we also visited the only home he ever owned, which is now managed by the National Park Service, and again worth a visit. Lincoln's New Salem is about a 30 minute drive from the Double J and we would highly recommend going there if your time allows. We had an excellent meal at Bella Milano, an Italian restaurant about a 15 minute drive from the Double J

Nice RV park. Well kept. Sites are packed gravel and level. Our site P-100 was long enough for 36' rig and toad without unhooking. Sewer tends to be far to the rear of the sites, may need an extension. Rest of FHU's are good. Center area to walk dogs, nice grass, not fenced. Park is well manicured. Pool, playground, mini golf. Wifi was slow at peak times. OTA tv. Cable. Some sites are satellite friendly. Also many treed sites. Good camp store with supplies. We did not notice any highway noise at our site. Good Verizon and T-Mobile signals for data. Site P-100 was satellite friendly also an end site. Staff was very friendly, and had escort to site. Did not find the interior roads to be much of a problem, but watch the turns. Have stayed here in the past and would stay here again for overnight stop. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed a week at this park and the rate reflects that. We were disappointed that the site we were promised at reservation time was not the site we received. The new site was in the sun belt and too short to fit both my truck and 42 foot 5th wheel. However, we managed even when the temps soared to over 90F and the western sun glared off my RV door. The gravel roads and sites are nice however, the dust raised from vehicles was excessive and my rig needs to be washed again. The roads are narrow so be aware of all the obstacles on the lawn when turning. The park has a nice selection of free DVD's to borrow and the Cable TV and WiFi package were good. The road noise from I-55 can be excessive especially when the wind comes from the north. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The park was a convenient distance from Chatham and Springfield. Springfield has Abe Lincoln being promoted 24/7/365 with the Museum, Tomb and House along with other things to see. The Museum is a must see since it is very well done. The Capitol is nice to visit as well and Springfield is a very walk-able city.
