We had a level, gravel, pull through, FHU site on the open west side of the park where all the sites are satellite friendly. The bathrooms were clean and there is a recycling dumpster across from the office. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Friendly staff on check-in. They have a great dog walk area that is lit till about 10 PM. Park roads are easy to navigate and locate sites. Cable TV and Wifi (Wifi was the best we have seen in a campground). Good Verizon service. Only concern was the close proximity of the fire pits to the camper or vehicle at adjoining sites. I would be concerned about damage to my camper/vehicle or me damaging theirs. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

10 miles south of Springfield, IL, Double J RV Park is a very nice base camp to visit the area. Just a mile from Lake Springfield, a large recreational lake. The park is older and the roads are narrow with lots of trees. Sites were adequate in size but not much extra room between neighbors. Sites have all standard amenities, with fire rings and picnic tables. Small swimming pools gets crowded with weekend campers. Springfield is a very nice medium sized city. We happened to be there during the huge Route 66 car show, and several downtown city blocks were closed off with the classic cars on display. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is our favorite Illinois campground. Exceptional staff, beautiful trees, mostly level sites, excellent cable tv, somewhat slow internet, interesting walking trail (the dog loved it), and some minor highway and train noise. Our site had the sewer connection at the back, so an extension might be needed depending on your rig. We will return whenever in the area. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Easy off and on highway. Friendly staff. Our site was on the end with grass and a nice tree. Campground is shady. Almost all spaces are pull through and shady. Gravel roadways so not able to ride bike but shady and nice to walk. Nice Laundry. Well stocked camp store. Clean/spacious bathroom/showers. Nice pool. Close to Springfield to do Lincoln/tourist activities. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Right on Route 66. Cozy dog diner on Route 66 was fun. They have a sign in the parking lot that plays the Route 66 song.

Although we only stayed 1 night while traveling, we found this campground, very clean, highly organized and well-managed. The 'owners' were on-site and available for assistance. The bathrooms were very clean with a lot of attention to detail, i.e., hooks for clothing, sink tops for supplies, well light, etc. Sites were level, with easy reach for hook-ups. Gravel was well distributed managing wet conditions quite well. The only minor draw-back was a bit of traffic noise from route 55. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Older campground in very good repair. New restrooms, large pavilion. Roads fine gravel and well-maintained. Cable in all sites. Sites mainly pull-thru and well-spaced, angled for easy access. Some long-term and seasonal sites, tent area. Staff works hard to maintain appearance of park. Usual camp store items but no souvenirs despite fact that campground is on Historic Route 66. Would return. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

What a great campground! So clean, so customer-oriented, so full-featured. Check-in was friendly and efficient and we were escorted to our level, gravel, water/sewer/electric pull-through. A nice touch was a vertical pole marking the sewer connection to help with initial placement in the site. Everything worked great (we did not attempt to use the WIFI). Good Verizon and ATT. Lots of dog-walking space, wide grass-covered site with a nice cement patio with picnic table, rural, quiet surroundings amid corn fields, limited highway noise despite nearby, convenient I-55, we were glad to stay here for a couple of nights as we enjoyed the Springfield area. The lovely pool was a welcome respite at the end of the day. We would love to stay here again should our travels bring us in this direction. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The park is very well kept. The sites are a good size and fairly level. The interior roads are gravel with no potholes. The sites are also gravel. Easy access from I-55 with no issues for big rigs. The only issue we had was with the owners. They were very friendly when we checked in but after that not so much. We requested that the fire ring on the site to our left be either moved or removed, we were told no. This fire ring was only one foot from our RV and could have caused damage to our RV if it had been used. Wifi worked fine for the first week, then there were issues with the one closest to us. Owners refused to look into the issue. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

What a gem of a park! Privately owned since the 70's but very modern with immaculate bathrooms and showers. Very nice owners who escort you to your site. Mature shade trees, almost all sites were pull-thrus and all very level (pretty much a given considering the location)! Some sewer connections were pretty far forward making it a stretch but you could pull forward and park tow in back and still reach the sewer. Other sites had the sewer hookup towards the back of the site. It had a nicely equipped playground, basketball court, goofy golf, nice pool! Great camp store w/RV supplies and food, free book exchange and movies to rent. It is right on historic Rt. 66, (which is the access road here for I-55). There is some interstate noise but at night the cicadas and crickets pleasantly drowned that out! Peaceful country setting in the middle of central IL cornfields but only 15 minutes to downtown Springfield and all the great Lincoln sites. We got a Good Sam discount but were charged for an extra adult as we had grandma with us! ($5/ night). At least children (up to 3 under 18) are free. We enjoyed our 3 night stay here and would definitely return! We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Lincoln museum (ticket are cheaper if ordered on-line) but the Dana Thomas house is fascinating and the Governor's mansion was just renovated (not using a penny of taxpayers dollars!) and the free tour was well worth it! New Salem was wonderful, free and only 25 minute drive north. The Illinois State Fair is held in mid-August in Springfield and it's only an hour and a half to Hannibal, Mo, home of Mark Twain!

I cannot begin to express how clean this place is. Owners have done a great job for this campground. Nice pool, nice area for your kids. Each site has water and sewer. Pricing similar to a KOA, but a big step above. When in Springfield, this is my stop. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is one of the cleanest campgrounds we've ever stayed in. We had a shady, level spot that was plenty long enough. Whoever designed The bathroom/shower house thought of all the details, down to towel hooks t the sink. The pool was delightful after a long day on the road. The workers we saw were very friendly. We enjoyed our evening stroll through the campground which is nestled between corn fields. The roads were easy to navigate for our F-350 and 35 ft fifth wheel. We were just there for 1 night on our way north and will definitely stay there again if it's on our route. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a really nice campground! Lots of space for big rigs and others, but shaded and private. The pool, mini golf, and numerous games and fields offer a lot to do. Everything is very well maintained. Service is prompt and excellent. Wifi is great for a campground. Restrooms are clean and nice. There is even a long, wooded walking trail around the campground. The gravel on the driveway is packed with rounded stones that don't track into your RV. They have all the bases covered whether you're looking for staying for an extended period or one night stop-over. This is conveniently located off Rt 55 just south of the city with easy access to attractions and shopping. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

This park is great - even though it is next to I-55, traffic noise is minimal, probably because of all the trees in the park. They have a great playground area for kids. My husband was impressed with the lady at check-in. She gave him all sorts of information about local sights, directions, parking, etc. We would highly recommend this RV park.
