One night layover on our way to Southern Illinois. Sites close to each other, but enough room to put out awning and slides. Has a fire ring, but IMO too close to camper to use. Hosts very helpful and familiar with events in area. One street to campground is pretty rough, but host says it and 2 other streets near campground are going to be updated in the near future. Cable available, but could not get it to work in our section of campground. Informed host. Small camp store. Shopping and restaurants are nearby. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Variety of shopping and restaurants within 1 mile (examples-Walmart, Cracker Barrel, Menards). Not sure about RV dealers for parts or service.

We called at the last minute and we received friendly and efficient service. We mentioned that we had a big rig and were coming in late and would appreciate a convenient pull-thru, which they accommodated. We were pulling out very early AM, in the dark and the rain (there was area flooding that night) and we accidentally ran over a fire ring that we did realize was there. Bottom line, our 40-ft. bus got stuck at 4 AM, in the rain. We could not get any tow service out to help until daylight because we were safe. The property caretaker came by around 7 AM, and went out of his way to try to help us dig out, to no avail. When the owner arrived and came over, we offered to pay for the damage to the grassy area and he was so gracious, saying that was not necessary. Everyone was very concerned about helping us and protecting our rig from damage. They recommended a big rig tow company, which was top notch and got us unstuck, and then they offered us a free night because of our stress! They are so kind, so accommodating and the facility was very clean. The lake is beautiful and it is super quiet. We would definitely come back here if we are ever in the area again. We were detained by over a half a day of our cross country trip because of our mishap, but the employees and owner still managed to make it a pleasant stay. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Small older campground nestled in many mature trees. The interior roads are gravel and wide enough to get around without problems. The site we had was a level FHU with full shade. The cable TV is just basic but works fine. The WIFI worked well also. The hosts, were very friendly and helpful. The road to the campground is narrow and could be a problem if you met someone going the opposite direction. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Nice overnight park. The cable TV is spotty and WiFi is good. There is a lot of shopping and restaurants close. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

See my 9/13 review for a description of this park and its' facilities. As usual, we had a FHU site with cable and at site internet that worked fine for us. The main thing that has changed since my last visit (10/14) is that they have resolved the cable issue. They now have basic cable with about 20 channels. The onsite managers are friendly and helpful. Very pleasant park-like setting with lake. Long pull-thru site was level and clean. Nice place to walk around with dogs. Tucked away off the freeway which is nice. I would stay there again. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Not big rig friendly. Could of just been the site we had, but it felt more like RV storage than a camp site. Our door opened into the adjacent site's sewer hose. The roads to the campground are very narrow. However, the park is quiet, clean, and the staff friendly. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Big rig friendly. Called ahead and the owners stayed open to help escort us to our site then delivered firewood right to our site. Very clean, peaceful park with places walk your dogs as well as sit and look out over Lake Pauline. Between the people, park layout and setting, this park has a good vibe. Very friendly staff. The park has gravel sites under the trees and located on the water. The road (interstate) noise can be heard from inside the RV. It is a nice place for an overnight or couple day stay. I would stay there again. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here to attend a wedding. The park is great for a overnight stop, plenty of shopping and gas stations in area. The only complaint was the staff they could of been friendlier. I would stay again if when are in area since that is the only decent there. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Our second stop here this year. Once on the way going west and now returning home. Sites very nice with trees. Some dropping acorns/walnuts in the fall. Hookups great. Close to shopping and gas. First stop, we were able to get all the cable stations by putting a $50 deposit on a box. It was refunded when we left. This stop no box and only four regular stations. Good Verizon. We will stop here next trip out. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed on an all gravel pull thru site with no grass. All utilities are in close proximity, however cable TV is somewhat limited in selection. Good WiFi availability with services close to town (Wal-Mart). The lake is nice with a few sites directly on it but most are not. The close proximity to main roads makes road noise an issue at times. Overall, the park is quite functional and the employees are very accommodating. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Some recent reviews had me wondering if folks were reviewing the right park. One, a couple months ago talked about seasonals and looking like a trailer park. While most of my 30+ stays here over the past 20+ years have not been "in season, i have seen very few seasonal or extended stay sites. In fact, we almost always have one of the sites with a deck when we stay for our one night headed south or back north. The decks were built by the owners of the park years ago and do not automatically indicate seasonal customers. There is a "trailer park" next door, but it is not part of the RV park. More recent reviews talk about limited cable and needing a cable box to get their cable. This is a new issue that has come up in many parks this year. After trying this new "box" system for a few months, the management gave up on it because too many customers could not get it to work properly. They now have basic cable that has just the basic package (about 15 channels). The park has also been sold again. The "old" owners held it for only about 15 months and recently sold it to a corporation. It is being managed by a friendly couple. All sites are FHU with the aforementioned basic cable and a 802.11 network that worked for us in the RV. The park is heavily treed so there is little chance of good satellite TV reception with the exception of the site next to the office. The loss of good cable (this is a provider issue) reduces my rating by a point. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

This park is convenient and close to restaurants and shopping. The sites were a bit close and you could tell it was an older park, but the price wad right. We would stay again. Our pull-thru was level and the hookups were well placed. The cable didn't offer much of a selection, but it offered the basics. The hosts were friendly. We came here with reviews from the internet, There were a lot of Seasonal with decks and they were all scattered within the park. Was looking for a "RV" park to camp, not a trailer park. Seasonal should be kept away from camper's. However, the place was neat and kept up. Camp here for a week, No. To pull off road because being tired, Yes. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
