Good park. All utilities and amenities were fine. Far enough from the highway for quiet. Excellent wifi. Nice staff.

Extensive road construction in area that is not near complete. Get info on best route to park. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Effingham has everything you need. Flying J (exit 160)is more convenient for fuel than Pilot (exit 162) which is probably too tight for moderate to large rigs.

This one of the nicest RV parks that we have stayed at. I rated a 9 only because of the gravel sites. This is a First Class campground. Very quiet, lots of shade. The park hosts are the best. We stayed two different times on our way to and from the Goshen rally. Will for sure stop off again when in the area. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Minutes off interstate GPS got us there fine. Stayed for overnight. 34

RV towing car. Nice easy-access pull through site. Great view of lake. Facility is very well maintained and grounds are extremely clean. Small fenced dog run (grassy and spotless, with clean-up bag dispenser). Very friendly staff. Our 50 amp service was fine, as was free wifi. Nice level gravel site was plenty long for RV and car. All 3 slides opened with no issues. Sites are mostly shady. Firepits and tables at site. Disconnected the car to get dinner and had no trouble parking it in the site. Would recommend and stay there again. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are LOTS of restaurants just a few minutes away in Effingham. We ordered Italian at Il Forno, which was good.

If this place had a pool we might have never left. The camp manager greeted us with a big smile and shared all kinds of local information with us. Her and her husband, keep the campground running smoothly and very clean. It is just a short distance off of I-57/I-70 so access is easy with signs directing you in, but far enough that there is very little road noise. The campground is right on the bend of Lake Pauline and some of the sites overlook the lake. The sites are laid out in a variety of ways to give you the best views and the most space. There are a number of seasonal campers but all are well kept. They also have cabins to rent. We had the best site in the park, #65 is a pull through that was plenty long enough for our 37-foot RV, tow dolly and parking the car. It is extremely wide, we laid our 15-foot patio rug straight out from our door and there was still room before our neighbor. Lots of trees which provided great shade, cut high enough that you can drive around them. If you use satellite TV this would not be a good spot for you, we don't and love the shade. The sites are all gravel, we had an extra long 10 person picnic table and a fire pit. WiFi was great and Verizon signal strong. Plenty of places to walk the dog and enjoy the lake views, there is a playground for the kids. They also have a lounge on site, that serves beer and mixed drinks and offers video gaming. The bartender gave us great service. We stayed the 4th week of August and paid the weekly rate of $182.00/ $26.00 a night. We will go back to this place when passing through. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Entry from the street looks like a trailer park but the RV park is quite nice - behind the "entry". The RV park is totally separate and well kept. Staff was friendly, but didn't compute 10% discount correctly - 10% of $39 is NOT $3!

Did have cable tv but not digital boxes - yet many channels were receivable after doing auto program. We would stay here again. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We just stayed a short night with no study of local area except there Are convenient gas stations with diesel on route to CG from Interstate. USE exit 162 off interstate - very simple route and avoids in town construction.

Stayed overnight. Make sure you get directions from park web site or call. There is a lot of road construction coming off interstate and your GPS may disappoint you. Once you go down the long road, (which is near residential areas) follow the signs (there are several) to the end (even when you see the Dead End sign). The last sign will turn you left into park about 200 yards away. If you don't you may do like we did and turn into the "Trailer Park Section".

The park is very neat and orderly and mostly under trees (and shady) which are all trimmed up, and by a nice lake. It is a pleasant environment. Our site was hard pan small gravel as is most sites, but level and had cable hook ups. We had a 44' coach and they have pull-throughs that will accommodate big rigs.

There is a Pilot Truck stop on way in or out which is convenient. We would stay here again. Because it was a holiday weekend, closed early on Saturday so did not run into staff. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Now this is the kind of park we like. Quiet, clean, and lots of trees. May be hard for satellite reception and their cable was out this evening but WiFi was booming strong, good enough to watch Netflix. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

We were only going to stay overnight but had truck problems on the way and had to limp in and ended up staying a week to get the truck fixed. We had a level, gravel pull through site. Only problem was I couldn't get a signal on our DirecTV dish because the sats were right beside a 138,000 volt electric line that interfered with the signal so we just used their cable to get news. Park employees were very accommodating since we had truck problems. We would stay here again. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

When we were there I-57/70 construction made it a bit tricky to access from interstate. Narrow road entrance and MH park in front of campground make it a bit tricky, but not too bad to get in / out of. It's a nice wooded park with trees that backs up to small lake. No license required for fishing, but didn't get a chance to take advantage of it. Friendly staff. We were there 1 night and given slot next to office. Looks like many long time residence, but all were kept up and friendly. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stopped here for an overnight stay. A very friendly, and efficient lady checked us in and we were promptly escorted to our site. We have a big rig and I had no trouble maneuvering thru the roads. The sites are gravel and close together. Ours was a little unlevel in that the leveling system finished with a rear tire off the ground. Good cable TV, satellite may be an issue due to shade trees. The park was quiet and seemed to be well kept. We would stay there again. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The park is in a pretty setting, but sites are very not well situated. They are cramped, and some of them have shared utility posts, with 2 rigs together facing in opposite directions. Though the park was nearly empty for my three day stay, they placed another rig for two of those days in the site right next to me. Our slides were about five feet apart, and I had to keep my blinds up on that side to avoid looking into their living area. The whole park is right under a high voltage utility line. The lake is more of an algae-ridden pond. The service was very friendly, but the person who took my reservation only had me down for one night, not three. Luckily, I was there when it was not busy. The advertised free cable is over the air channels only, not cable channels. The wifi worked well some of the time, other times it crashed. Overall, not a bad place, but I generally pay less than this for nicer places. There is a mobile RV repair person on call, and he is fantastic. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
