Staying for a week at Geneseo Campground, in Geneseo, Illinois. ~70 sites, all but three are pull- thrus. Great internet, water pressure and amps. New owners just took over from the previous owners, and have a lot of plans for improvements, of which few are needed. Sites will get new gravel, and made easier access for big rigs. Get ready for a spontaneous concert with the owners playing the banjo, guitar, and other string instruments. Bathrooms and showers are top notch with even hand towels provided. This campground is located adjacent to the Hennipin canal, which was a test bed for the Panama canal. A bike path along the canal goes for many miles of easy riding. Highly recommend this campground as a destination or stopover. "American pickers" headquarters are 16 miles down the road in LeClair, Iowa, just over the Mississippi river. Stayed in a 40' fifth wheel. We camped at Geneseo Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

American Pickers headquarters are just over the Mississippi in the beautiful town of LeClair, Iowa There is a 10' underpass in town on the way to the campground. If arriving from the East, get off at exit 19 and follow the blue campground" signs to avoid the bridge. Take Oakwood to left on Exchange st to right on 82. Follow over the Hennipin canal and entrance on right. A camper next to us didn't heed the signs and ripped his A/C off his roof.

This is an older park that wasn't constructed for big rigs, although there were many on site. The sites are very close together and fairly tight. Several tire ruts and muddy areas after recent rainstorms. We were happy we chose a site on the end of a row. Overall, the park was very quiet and relaxing. Several people staying there were also working in the area. The park will be under new ownership after Labor Day. Hopefully the new owners will expand the gravel areas on some of the sites and roadways to help reduce the ruts/mud. Also, the wi-fi could be updated to expand coverage and speed. Only one device allowed to connect per site without paying extra. We enjoyed the proximity to the Hennepin Canal for biking and kayaking, which was our main purpose for choosing this location. Overall we enjoyed our stay and are planning to go back in the future. We camped at Geneseo Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Site #21, $30 for a 30 amp full service pull-through (no discount) This is a small quiet campground that has a peaceful feel about it and the hosts are most pleasant. Each site has a gravel driveway with a picnic table on grass. Fire bowls are available at the office. They sell propane by the pound/gallon, they have canoe and kayak rentals, and there is a laundry, but no pool or cable. WiFi for one device is provided free (additional devices are $1/day) and it is quite good. This was to be a quick overnight stop on our way back to home Nova Scotia, but the serenity of the place convinced us to stay a second day. Coming off I-80, my GPS directed me through town to a 10' high bridge - follow the truck route signs instead (i.e., from exit 19 off I-80, follow Hwy 82 to the campground entrance, which is just past the bridge over the canal). We camped at Geneseo Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground is right beside the Hennepin Canal. Lots of shade, nice sites, lots of places to walk the dog. Over the air TV. A previous review mentioned trouble with the electrical service, but we never had a bit of trouble. Good stead voltage the whole time. Campground owners were very nice. We really enjoyed our stay here, wish we could stay longer, and we love to come back. We camped at Geneseo Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

There were plenty of trees that were trimmed to keep them off the rvs. We didn't use the bathrooms. A lot of rvs with narrow roads made maneuvering difficult. The sites were short if you are towing. There were decent TV stations. ATT signal was strong and Verizon was acceptable. The wifi from our site was okay. The staff was friendly and the park is fine for overnight but I would look elsewhere for an extended stay as there wasn't any privacy. We camped at Geneseo Campground in a Motorhome.

Make sure you don't use GPS directions; there's a 10 foot bridge that you won't get under! Everyone is very friendly and access back to 80 is very easy. The campground is tight with a number of mature trees. If another camper had not moved their truck we would have never made it. Has a foot path access to the canal that runs beside it. The bathrooms were clean; although there is a musty smell. We stayed one night on the way through. We camped at Geneseo Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We arrived for an overnight stay. Check-in was very easy. They pointed to our spot and sent us on our way. It was VERY hot when we arrived (99 degrees). The power to the whole campground kept going off and they would have to reset it. They went around and asked everyone to use their propane for refrigerators, hot water, and cooking to relieve some of the strain. It didn't help. When the sun went down, the power finally stayed on. It took a long time for the RV to cool down. The grass was high and, trying to sit outside, the bugs kept flying up on you. You are allowed only one connection to the Wi-Fi per site. If you want to connect another device, you have to pay for it. I didn't ask how much. There was a cute water park (small) for the kids. They really enjoyed it. I don't think we will stay here again because it is out of our way and, unless they upgrade the electric, it's not worth it on hot days. We camped at Geneseo Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We overnighted at Geneseo Campground in May 2018 in our 39' fifth wheel. It was a nice site to spend a short stay. The pull-through site was somewhat short so we had to disconnect our tow vehicle and park it sideways behind our rig. The only real challenge was due to the electrical connection being in the very front of the site, which caused us to have to use every bit of our power cord to reach it. The Hennepin Canal runs along the campground and there is a nice walking trail along the canal. We saw many people fishing from the banks of the canal. Be sure to call to get directions to the campground. There is a bridge with only a 10' clearance coming through town but the office staff can direct you around this. We would not hesitate to return to this campground if passing through the area. We camped at Geneseo Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Arrived 7pm and had reservation. Website said full hookup which is true unless it's below freezing then no water and all hoses put away. So basically $33 for electricity! Owner was nice but neglected to tell me about water situation until after I gave her the $. Would not stay again with these conditions not addressed up front. Found this park while traveling across country on rt 80. Only stayed for 1 night but would not hesitate to spend more time. Lovely quiet campground along the Hennepin canal. Grounds were immaculate and well-cared for. Not a "resort" with landscaping but plenty of natural mature trees. Had a minor issue with some low-hanging branches when we pulled into our site and the owner immediately came to our site to trim them up. Off the beaten path but this is a gem and would definitely return for a longer stay. We camped at Geneseo Campground in a Motorhome.

Very nice small park. Outside of town, so nice and quiet. Right next to the Hennepin canal. Nice area to walk, ride bikes and walk dogs. They also rent canoes. Couldn't get in to the KOA we planned, looking for full hook-ups & space for a large motorhome just for the night. Went by the reviews and most were spot on. This campground is a hidden gem. Very clean, quaint with large mature trees, yet room for our large motorhome. The owner told me she only had a site left that would just fit the motorhome, and probably the toad, but not hooked up. She was correct. Plenty of room for motorhome, jeep parked sideways, fit fine. Off the beaten path a bit, but roads are plenty large enough and mostly straight getting here. There was construction nearby and a low clearence bridge in town. Owner gave me perfect direction to and when leaving back to I80. We got in late so didn't get to check it out, but saw they have a small area set up inside for playing games etc, and a quaint little store with some unique items. The only reason I didn't give a 10 rating was no store on site for food. Although the town nearby has everything you might need. Not much as in way of amenities, but peaceful and beautiful. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Geneseo Campground in a Motorhome.
