About two miles off the highway. Pretty easy to get to from the interstate by taking the truck route. There are a lot of permanent campers but they are pretty tidy and friendly. We had a pretty long pull-thru for our night stay. Fairly level so it didn't require extra effort to level. Power and water only and both worked fine. No Wifi. It is quiet and a pretty little spot with a lake on one side and big open field on the other. Worked fine for our overnight stop. Dump station not really convenient when leaving as I had to make a big loop to get in. We camped at Arrowhead Lake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Take the truck route through town - north on Grand Ave (at DQ), east on 9th St (at the McDonalds) until come to end, then left for just a few blocks to road to campground which is well signed. Reverse when leaving.

Overall Rating:

We stopped at the campground as an overnight stay during travel. Not too far off the interstate with easy drive through the small town. The staff is extremely friendly. We were assigned an easy pull-through site with water and electric. While we were setting up, a staff member stopped by to inquire if all was well. During a walk through the park, we discovered a group of fellows were playing music on the porch of the store. They were great and we enjoyed being part of their audience. Our site overlooked a meadow and we spotted deer in the morning as we were packing up. The dump station is easy access near the exit. There are some long term residents and there sites are kept nice and neat as well as the park. The only negative was the bath house was dirty and the showers moldy. Overall, we enjoyed our short stay, and would definitely stay here again. We camped at Arrowhead Lake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed overnight on our way to St. Louis. Friendly owner, spacious campsites, 2 miles off interstate in a quaint "throwback" town. Nothing super fancy but perfect for our needs and quite a bargain. Would stay here again. We camped at Arrowhead Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice little city campground with gravel roads and sites, a few are pull through. Our site was 30a and water pull through, the trees were no problem for our roof top dish. Verizon cell phone and hotspot worked well. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We camped at Arrowhead Lake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Stopped for overnight while traveling. Nice warm welcome from staff. Showed us to our site, made sure we knew where the facilities were and offered free use of fishing poles. Gave us a pull through site so we didn't have to unhook. Gravel and level. Had nice view of lake but it was very cold out so we didn't explore. Campground has nice playground, lakeside pavilion with memory garden. Some evident full time residents but overall park had neat clean cared for look. Would definitely return and stay longer if we pass that way again. We camped at Arrowhead Lake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Stopped while driving through and could not be happier. Plenty of room for any unit, the people were very friendly and helpful, plenty of things to do if you have kids and we stayed an extra night because it was so relaxed and beautiful. We camped at Arrowhead Lake Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Found the park on our way to St. Louis. It is very convenient about 2 miles from the interstate. The grounds are charming and the park is situated directly on a lake. You can see the water from most of the property, but most sites are not directly on the lake. There is a walking path around the lake, lots of playground area, a Rec center and lots of friendly people. Seems like a lot of full timers. The park had character and charm and a good value. There are tents as well as RV and campers. The only thing I must say is the park is not suffocated. We were asked to join in on their weekly fish fry and it was a kick. We camped at Arrowhead Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed for 2 nights, multiple times, we always look forward to returning. It is a county park, run as a simple, basic RV campground. Arrowhead offers very spacious, comfortable sites, a few are waterfront, on gravel base. They are a diamond in the rough. It is touch tricky to access off 57, but it is a straight trip thru the small town of Johnston City, watch for the signs. Quaint, small office and TV room with wifi and very colorful and very friendly seasonal folk. Electric and water at the site and pump out is available at the exit. Fishing licenses for Illinois anglers is required if you fish and a two mile scenic walking path around the lake is popular. We camped at Arrowhead Lake Campground in a Travel Trailer.

A real surprise. This is a nice little park next to Arrowhead Lake. It has a lot of full time or seasonal residents, but we had a nice site that was saved for overnight guests. The people we very nice and we enjoyed the park. Drive in was easy and the roads were fine. Our site was level and near the lake. Would stay here again. Great value. Nice moderate sized city campground. 30amp and water with a dump station. The power was fine but we did not connect to the water for this short overnight stay. We were given a "pull through" site which was a nice wide gravel spot beside the road. It was plenty wide so our slide was not near the road. It was a Saturday night and the park was pretty full, we were concerned that there might be kids, noise and campfire smoke but none of these happened. It was a very pleasant evening. The rooftop dish worked well, no trees and the Verizon cell and hotspot also worked well. We were too far from the office to get a WiFi signal. The sites are close and many are short. We camped at Arrowhead Lake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a fabulous secret! Only found this park because of the website www.uscampgrounds.info. Beautiful setting, very pleasant people, easy in and easy out. If you are coming from I-57, use the truck route to get to the park as the railway crossing is easier than going down Broadway. From interstate go down Broadway then take a left on Grand turn right on 9th street follow to Corinth which is past the railway tracks then turn left on Peterson. Some of the branches of the trees on Peterson are a little low so beware. Great spot to stop for north and south travelers. We camped at Arrowhead Lake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We stop in southern Illinois annually. We were thrilled to find this nice city park. We were staying just one night and needed only E/W which was $10. The park is clean and taken care of. It is just 2 miles off the interstate. The train track crossing in town is a little scary, so take it easy. We will look to stay in this park again and was told that the rate may go up to $12 a night this spring. We camped at Arrowhead Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Our rate was with the senior discount. Tent sites are $10. Most motorhome sites are $16. This is a small fishing lake with only electric motors allowed on the boats and has lots of shore fishing area. There is a 2 mile walk on a nice graveled path around the lake with sights and sounds of birds, frogs and turtles. The camp hosts are very friendly and helpful. The campers are considerate and friendly. There is a laundry and dump site available. Nice playground and group picnic area. The only downside is the older push button showers that are too hot and the temperature can't be regulated. We would definitely stay here again. We stopped for an overnight. What a great place. Our rate is the seniors discount rate. Any time I can find a place like this for under $10.00, I'll pick it over a Wal-Mart, a truck stop or rest area any day. We need more cities offering this type of camping facility. We camped at Arrowhead Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

The campground had a not so good review but I found just the opposite to be true. There are eighteen or so lakeside camping sites and through the winter most of those remained empty. The lake is just steps away from any site. There may be 3 or 4 motorhomes that are lived in year round as RV life is a way of life for some. A non-denominational chapel is located at the campground. The water service is seasonal being turned off from December to April. There are no sewer hookups but of course there is a dump station. The bath house and laundry are always clean and sanitary. The lake, besides being a jewel, has a two and a half mile improved hiking trail. The wildlife that frequent the lake or call it home consist of an occasional osprey, a bald eagle pair, and golden eagles (at least one pair). An occasional bobcat has been seen in the most remote areas of the lake. And then there's fishing. We camped at Arrowhead Lake Campground in a Motorhome.
