Overall Rating:

We stayed at Little Grassy from July to November on a work camping gig. It is a beautiful secluded park set on a 1000 acre lake. There is fishing, kayaking, canoeing, Jon boating, paddleboarding, and pontoon rental a available at the marina. You can also purchase minnows, crickets, and an assortment of worms there, along with a variety of snacks. You can also get fishing license on site. The RV sites are fairly large, but be sure to let the reservation desk know how big your rig is because not all sites will accommodate all rigs. I know this from experience. This campground was built 50 years ago when campers were made differently. You may need an extra power cord, water hose, or sewer line because the hookups at some sites are located far away. When we stayed we ran three power cords and two water hoses to reach our hookup. It is a fun and relaxing spot to camp at, especially if you canoe to the back forty where there are no pontoons and not very many people go. We camped at Little Grassy Lake Campground and Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

You are ten minutes from Carbondale, where there are stores and shopping. Check out Boo's Park on the way to Carbondale. It is a free attraction that includes a huge castle with inside maze, and lots of mystical creatures surrounding it, even a dragon. Giant City State Park has hiking, horseback riding, and playgrounds. Be sure to have dinner or lunch at Giant City Lodge.

We were looking for a full hookup site near Carbondale and we found this park was the only one nearby. (9 miles) We got one of the 3 full hookup sites at this park. The hookups were a challenge as the water and electric were 15' on the right and the sewer connection ended up under the motorhome 20' of hose was needed. The park personnel were nice and accomodating. We had a wonderful view of the lake and plenty to watch with a fishing tournament going on. Our site was level but we noticed a few sites were not so be prepared. We camped at Little Grassy Lake Campground and Marina in a Motorhome.

Very good campground and marina. Rented fishing boat and fished with my younger brother, which we haven't done in almost 50 years. The lake limits motors to 9.9 HP, and has good fishing most of the time. Also has pontoon boats, which I recommend for us older, heavier fishermen. Boats had small benches, but rental seats are available, which we should have gotten. Park is easy to get around in. We camped at Little Grassy Lake Campground and Marina in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Our site, as was adjacent ones had electrical pedestals that were beyond 25' away, so bring an extension cord or borrow one from the marina if available.

As others have stated before, you need a VERY long cord to reach most electric boxes. We had to move sites because our cord didn't reach. They do have boat rentals and a small beach. Sites are not that level. We camped at Little Grassy Lake Campground and Marina in a Motorhome.

Rate reflects a Passport America rate. We enjoyed our stay here very much and greatly appreciated the warm welcome by the staff. They gave us good directions and helped us find a site which worked well for our rig. GPS is not accurate so be sure to call for directions. Most sites have nice views of the lake. Rental kayaks, bikes, and boats are available. We camped at Little Grassy Lake Campground and Marina in a Motorhome.

Little Grassy Lake Campground and Marina (LGLCM) is located about 7 miles south of Carbondale inside Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge. It's also close to Giant City State park's lodge and hiking trails. The road through the park is black-top. The park is very secluded and was quiet during the week. There are many shady sites. LGLCM advertises 14 full hookups. Think I counted 5 full hookup sites with fairly level cement slabs in the Lake View area on top of a hill where our site was. The other full hookup sites in Lake View were gravel. All had a good view of the lake and marina below. Each site had a picnic table and fire ring. Some lake view sites were a long, long way from the electric boxes, so best to have double cables. The Trailers Rest and Circle View RV areas were water and electric only and all looked to be gravel sites. Our full hookup cost $30. LGLCM's bathrooms are separate from the showers, but in the same building. Being in park, they were kept OK clean, a few cobwebs, I'd wear my flipflops to shower. They have a small store at the marina where you register, has RV supplies, ice, firewood, fishing licenses, etc. LGLCM have a very nice marina with boat rentals. Pontoon and jon boats, canoes and kayaks. There's also has a small sandy beach away from the marina, no lifeguard, they charge to swim there. The people that ran it were friendly and helpful. We camped at Little Grassy Lake Campground and Marina in a Motorhome.

Shady sites; many near lake view, quiet. Only complaint is that bathrooms are separate from showers and showers have no electrical outlets. We camped at Little Grassy Lake Campground and Marina in a Travel Trailer.
