13 Parks near Marseilles, Illinois
Jul 2007 - $35.00
Mainly a seasonal park, but they do offer a few Overnight sites. Grounds are not maintained at all and the majority of the seasonal sites look like no one has been out to them in years. No swimming of any type (pool or lake). Nice newer playground and entry with a keypad locking gate. I asked if they had fishing, the lady said yes they had a stocked pond but in her own words it was pretty "grown up" I guess she was not kidding because I could not even find the pond! Weeds - Yikes! I don't think we will return, the place seems deserted and creepy and offers nothing for recreation. - cdm74
Oct 2014 - $35.00
We had called this park twice before arriving, and had not received a call back. We went anyway. Roads throughout the park were bumpy, muddy, full of potholes. There were many permanent residents in broken down, trash strewn places that should have been bulldozed. Crowded, non-level, barely paved sites obscured by fallen leaves. I saw a Pitbull, off leash, and mentioned it to the owner. I saw things happening that led me to believe that "anything goes" and if there are any rules in place, they are certainly not enforced. We drove through the park a couple of times, with the owner and another fellow. I feared for the safety of our rig and our small dog. Luckily we found another place to stay and left. - mrsweeble
Jun 2011 - $35.00
It is open year round. There are lots of permanet residents there. The dogs run free but are friendly. The trees infested with carpenter ants. There is only wifi by the office with no shade. We were there over the 4th and firecrackers were going off until about 3 a.m. - hap
Jul 2010 - $35.00
This was our first time camping with our new camper. We did stay over a holiday weekend. The camp site itself was very nice, private and quiet. We did see the pool, but did not use it. The overall campground itself was ok. There were permanents all through out the campground, some were nice and others needed to be taken away. People were friendly and we as a family will stay at this campground again. - fairfield5
Jul 2015 - $40.00
The campground was very poorly maintained with very rough and pot holed roads, the roads were very dusty and heavily traveled with speeding golf carts and off road ATV type vehicles, woke up the next morning with 1/8" of dust on RV and truck. Fire works all evening until they either ran out or got tired of them. the sites were very close, for what should have been maybe 3 sites they had 6 if there had been a camper beside us we could not have put out our awning. There appeared to be no rules; when asked another camper said others have been told if you don't like it leave. Well I will not be back. Keep on looking. do not stop here. - Chief Dave
Jul 2015 - $32.00
The "guard house" was abandoned, the roads almost impossible, the site electric threatened electrocution, the water stank, and we didn't feel safe leaving the coach for an excursion. Very rough people as "greeters", no site map, and we feared for our safety -slept with the pistol loaded right next to my head. - Frances and Sparky
Aug 2014 - $32.00
Was just staying the night. Camped near entrance gate as I didn't feel like spending the time to drive back to regular camping area. (Long day, 427 miles.) This was my choice as staff offered the regular lots for me to use. Staff was friendly. Had water & electric. Wi-Fi never worked where I was located. Looked like the router I was connected to needed to be re-booted to the Internet. If Wi-Fi worked and maybe if I had seen rest of campground I would feel comfortable with a 7 or 8 rating. Would stay again and would probably go to regular camping area. - Tireman9
Jul 2016 - $20.00
The shower house was clean but needed better ventilation, it stank.
The roads are asphalt in good shape. The sites are gravel. The views are good for campers, but none for tents. One host is quiet and friendly, the other nit picky. There's an ice cream shop in the park at the ball field.
30 amp at camper sites. Shared water that needs flushing each use, lots of rust in line.
No OTA TV, satellite iffy.
Several tree need trimmed on the roads and sites. - Hhtjr
May 2016 - $20.00
The sites are very spacious and level. We had plenty of room in our site to spread out. The fire pits are small and raised off of the ground. There was wood available from the camp host at a reasonable price. For those of you that are early-birds, keep an eye out for the barges passing right next to your campsite! - Bertaventure
May 2014 - $17.00
We love this campground for two reasons. Close to home so that I can commute to work and the river sites with their view of the river and barges. Nothing can beat the sun coming up over the river with a barge in site. The river sites are in the Great Falls area sites 1-20. We give the park a review of 8 because of the quality of water (we bring our water from home) and the fact that only 20 of the sites are on the river. If I was coming to the area to visit Starved Rock State Park, I would choose this campground and use it as my home base. There are a number of restaurants in the town of Marseilles a short drive away. - smitty12
Nov 2016 - $27.00
Very limited 50Amp sites and tight for big rigs. The showers and bathrooms were disgusting even during the week. On weekends it was even worse. Went to check in several times during the day and there was no one there. When leaving went to dump tanks and branches were so low, scratched my RV including my AC cover. I will not be returning. - Rascal123
Sep 2015 - $25.00
Price does not reflect $5 reservation fee. I only gave Service a low rating because there wasn't any, not because it was bad.
Our loop was mostly an open field with little shade, and the grass needed mowing. The campground has little in the way of amenities and is segregated from the rest of the park. You need to drive about 3 miles to get to the visitor center, lodge or trails where all the activities are. Empty and quiet during the week, but full on weekends. Several pumps provide fresh water, but the single dump station can get backed up (pun intended) when everyone leaves on Sunday.
A couple of TV channels and OK Verizon and AT&T service. The campground was OK, but since it doesn't have water or sewer hookups, and you have to drive to the state park anyway, I doubt I'll stay again. - TheRollingJones
Jun 2015 - $25.00
One of our favorite Illinois State Parks. Friendly staff, clean and well maintained campgrounds, and plenty of hiking and exploring. - Mike Pula
Jun 2013 - $35.00
We stayed here in a 40Ft rig. Most of the sites are taken up by long term seasonal residents. Management is good, have on-site security, and have worked hard in cleaning up the trash. Our rate for the month of June is $500 which includes electric. However we have found some people are charged less. We stayed here because of family in Montgomery, IL. which is close by. They do not have a website, but if you do a search you can find it on the web. - Gatorcq
Jun 2016 - $30.00
Needed a place near Starved Rock to camp for a few nights. Everything about the experience was smooth - booking a few months in advance, calling to double check the reservation, checking in, paying, setting up, and departing.
Know what you are getting:
-shower room is little more than a plywood box/shed
-private property/basically in the yard of the owner
-near the road
When we arrived the owner drove over on his golf cart and helped us back into the spot. He is very kind and helpful. He brought over a 10 foot board to help me with the sewer line angle. - daa10496
Oct 2016 - $20.00
Lots to like here!
Deserves a 4 star rating.
Level gravel site.
Lots of trees.
Negatives: Bit of a grumpy hostess when we asked for a site near the laundry. Do not know why this was an issue to her, the campground was only 25% filled.
The laundry was good enough except the dryers were short cycles and required double the coins to get dry.
Stay here again, Sure! - Sir_Charles395
Sep 2016 - $36.00
A nice park with good utilities but no cable. There were a few channels on the batwing however. WiFi was very spotty and slow when it did work. Nice large pull through sites with mostly gravel pads and a few concrete ones and well graveled roads that are holding up well despite recent heavy rains. Nice restroom/shower facilities and friendly owners. Highway noise was minimal due to nice large sound buffering trees but there is an agricultural plant of some kind near by that had a constant hum all night. Mosquitoes however were terrible. It was quite full so I would recommend reservations. - utchaps
Sep 2016 - $36.00
A perfect choice for easy access and long level pull though sites, wi fi worked well and everything was as it should be. - Bruce and Janette
Jul 2016 - $60.00
We needed to be in this location and this was the only campground in the area. Driving in, I was impressed with the clean pool, lots of flowers and freshly painted fence. I was shocked at paying $60.00! Staff was friendly but that doesn't justify such a high cost. No cable or internet unless you sat on their porch with a computer. Bathrooms were average. The dump station was situated so your RV is tilted in such a way that your tanks can't drain. How can a campground charge so much for just a bit of space? - Silvana CLark
Jun 2009 - $30.00
Camped here twice so far, they have 9 short term sites. Family friendly and dogs are welcomed. All 9 sites are back in and are tight. Nice pool and Camp store. Not a lot to do at the camp grounds itself. - Mojo 035
Jul 2007 - $28.00
Fairly priced with good people, and affordable amenities. It was a clean park, and we were very satisfied, so would go back again. - jjfamily
Oct 2016 - $41.00
Easy check-in and we were escorted to our FHU pull thru site. Park is older and small but well kept. Very clean bathrooms. Friendly hosts and workers. We stayed Fri and Sat nights but were really only there in the evening after supper because our main goals were hiking at the state parks and eating out. Park had a mix of weekend locals and overnight travelers. Sites were very tight in most areas. Park was quiet after 10pm and most campers were very friendly and respectful. - fastlane18
Sep 2016 - $35.00
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Great park for a nite while traveling on I-80 or I-65. May be muddy and have soft ground if the area received rain. Pull thru with water and electric on larger sites with plenty of room. Full hook up may be tight and smaller. Cable TV and WiFi worked with no issues. We will stay here again. - truckerturtle
Aug 2016 - $44.00
Directions are good. Get off I-80 at Exit 81. There is a Loves truck stop there so you can fill up, then come out and go north 1.5 miles and take a left. Park is on the left. Access is tight. Only about a dozen pull thru sites and some of those are only good for smaller rigs. Most of the sites are for pull in or back in. Really only 2 good pull thru sites for larger rigs. Lots of beautiful tent sites. Beautiful grounds. Good size off leash dog park. Friendly and helpful staff. Would stay here again. - okdiver
