We camped here in March so it wasn't a busy time of year; we had the place to ourselves. The sites are surprisingly close together and we couldn't find a single one that was level. They are in definite need of additional gravel or something so they aren't totally muddy. The only ones with concrete pads were the handicapped ones. This is a great location with lots of birds and wildlife on the lake and in the woods. I won't return, however, unless they do some improvements. Note: They advertise a dump station but it is not marked and is not close to the campground -- although the map shows that it is. The map was mistaken in several other ways as well. Also, the water was shut off for the winter, so all we could access was electric. There was no shower house and the vault toilets were very dirty. Disappointing. We camped at Lake Murphysboro State Park in a Travel Trailer.Undo

Rate is for off season. Quiet park on Lake Murphysboro. Us and our friends were the only two in the park for 4 nights. Water available and dump station available. Good stable power. Lots of wildlife to see. Kingfisher, geese, eagle, herons, deer, turkey, and squirrel. Plus the town folks who drive through the park and campground to see who is there and what is going on. Trees were turning and very pretty. We've stayed in this park 3 years now and would definitely return again. We camped at Lake Murphysboro State Park in a Fifth Wheel.Undo

Rate reflects off season. We stayed starting on a Sunday to Thursday. Nice quiet park. Dump station, 30 amp service, water available for fill ups. No firewood in the park this year. Normally there is free firewood. Lots of wildlife, deer, turkey, herons, geese, ducks. Some train noise which is evident both day and night. Fishing on the lake and Lake Kinkaid is close also. About 15 TV stations available on antenna. We camped at Lake Murphysboro State Park in a Fifth Wheel.Undo

Nice quiet campground. Sits on the Lake with a few lake front sites available. Largest sites will accommodate a 35' rig. No Wi-Fi, but good cell signal. Two campgrounds, one for RV's and one for tent campers. Lake for fishing, showers available but not in the campground. No beach or swimming allowed. Free firewood.
