Once you get into the campground, everything was fine. However, getting there is not convenient off the highway and you have travel over gravel dirt roads to get there. Directions are very confusing. Thank goodness there were some signs to follow. Our coach and toad were covered in dust by the time we got parked. No pull-thrus for overnights, so you do have to disconnect. We would not come back, but not because of the campground itself but the wear and tear on the coach getting in and out on the access roads. We camped at Shady Lakes Camping & Recreation in a Motorhome.

Pluses: no highway noise, quiet, full hook up, level spot, friendly staff. Good for one night. Negatives: very little gravel, lots of mud. Water faucet serves 4 sites, needed extra long hose, on the wrong side. Narrow sites. Free internet at office, otherwise pay. We were close to office and were able to get it. We camped at Shady Lakes Camping & Recreation in a Travel Trailer.

A nicely maintained family oriented park. Nice lakes for fishing and small boats. Convenient for visiting the Bishop Hill Historic Village site. There appeared to be a large number of seasonal rentals. We camped at Shady Lakes Camping & Recreation in a Travel Trailer.

This looked like a good family type campground. We didn't have a lakeside site, but they looked nice. The site we were in was kind of close. It was very crowded. We camped at Shady Lakes Camping & Recreation in a Motorhome.

This is a wonderful place. It is in the middle of nowhere so there is no noise. Great view of the stars. The fishing is unbelieveable. You can't not catch a fish! You cast and reel one in. It is that easy. The bathrooms were clean but dated. Nothing says good morning like that cold toilet seat either. Plenty of room to maneuver, even the big rigs. You can pull through but if the ground is wet they ask you not to. If you had to I doubt there would be a problem. Many sites. Good size. Most with shade. Every site has a fire ring and picnic table. Also, every site has water/electric/sewer. Owners are here often. Staff is extremely friendly. 5 lake/ponds so it's easy to find a nice quiet spot. This was our first trip in our pop-up in May of 2004 and we will definitely be going back. We camped at Shady Lakes Camping & Recreation in a Travel Trailer.
